After a Contractual Marriage, Little Taotie Went Viral!-Chapter 203 - 201: Just Trying to Ride the Trending Topic, Huh?
Before she could think, Pei Yan had already stepped inside.
"Leqi? You’re here? I’ll be ready soon." Qin Yun was putting on her shoes and immediately sped up when she heard the voice.
"Sister Yun, I came to find you for breakfast." Yang Leqi didn’t close the door either and followed her into the room. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Just as she stepped in, Wang Sirui and Chen Yao arrived closely behind. Seeing the door wasn’t closed, they walked right in.
"Why is everyone here?" Wang Sirui said in surprise, looking at the other two standing in the room.
Yang Leqi did mention in the group chat that she was coming, but she didn’t expect Pei Yan to be there as well.
"Let’s wait downstairs. With so many people here, there’s hardly any space in the room." Chen Yao said, not surprised to see Pei Yan.
"I’m ready, let’s go down for breakfast directly." Qin Yun chimed in at just the right moment.
"Qin Hao still hasn’t shown up. Should we call him?" Chen Yao suddenly remembered they were missing someone and suggested.
At that moment, Qin Hao was angrily texting on his phone. His current manager disapproved of him having a girlfriend, so he decided to break up. Unfortunately, his girlfriend found out she was pregnant and refused the breakup, threatening to expose him and ruin his career if he dared.
He had rushed over late yesterday afternoon to calm her down, only to start arguing again early this morning.
His girlfriend wanted to get married because hiding the pregnancy was no longer possible. She was over two months along, and if they didn’t get a marriage certificate, her reputation would be ruined if he didn’t acknowledge it.
Qin Hao certainly disagreed. His career had just started; how could he throw it all away for a woman?
For celebrities, being in a relationship is like a death sentence. He was still so young; with fame, there would be no shortage of women wanting to be his girlfriend or bear his child. Naturally, he refused to be tied down just like that.
His girlfriend saw through his intentions and, of course, wouldn’t agree, pressing him to get married right after his program recording.
Chen Yao gave Qin Hao a call. Qin Hao had to suppress his frustration, answer the call while maintaining his image, and in a cute manner, said, "Brother Yao."
"Aren’t you up yet? We’re heading down to the restaurant for breakfast. Are you joining us?" Chen Yao asked.
"I’m up. I’ll be down right away." Qin Hao replied.
After hanging up, he didn’t reply to his girlfriend anymore and headed straight to the restaurant.
When Qin Hao showed up at the restaurant, suppressing his emotions, Qin Yun and the others had already picked up their food and were about to eat.
"Sorry, I’m late." Qin Hao said apologetically after sitting down. "I had something to handle yesterday, so I couldn’t come earlier."
"It’s fine. Luckily you weren’t here. Otherwise, the rumors might have been worse..." Wang Sirui sighed heavily, referencing a trending topic.
Qin Hao: "??"
"Did something happen?" He cautiously asked.
"Didn’t you check the group messages? Hmm... maybe just check the trending topic yourself. It’s more direct." Yang Leqi tried to hold back laughter, imagining how it would have been with even one more person.
"Uh, I woke up a bit late. When Brother Yao called, I’d only woken up for a couple of minutes." Qin Hao said with a smile, gripping his phone.
Qin Hao was now very sensitive to the term "trending topic." He feared his affairs appearing there; that would basically ruin him.
So many famous celebrities had fallen from grace due to such issues, struggling to make a comeback. It’s even harder for someone like him, with little fame or commercial value. The entertainment industry is a fast-paced world; a scandal could mean no hope for recovery.
Some established stars might recover due to their commercial value and connections, but for someone like him, lacking both fame and connections, a scandal would only end in obscurity.
With some tremors, Qin Hao opened Weibo, and upon seeing the trending topic, he breathed a sigh of relief, noticing the group’s messages spurred some malicious intent.
Looking at the trending topic, he regretted why he had gone to appease that woman last night. If not for calming her, he might have trended today.
But on the bright side, it was still trending. Just checking Chen Yao’s Weibo, he noticed it had netted him an extra two million followers; even Wang Sirui gained nearly a million.
If he had been there, perhaps he could have seen a surge of followers, at least showing his face.
But he couldn’t say it out loud, only smiled with a tinge of regret, "Had I known, I would have come earlier last night; might have joined you in trending."
The others didn’t have much reaction, but earnest Qin Yun, eating seriously, looked up at him, exposing his intentions, "You just wanted to ride the wave of trending, right?"
Qin Hao’s face turned somewhat ugly looking at her.
The rest were stunned for a moment, instinctively turning to Qin Yun, not understanding why she suddenly had that outburst.
Only Pei Yan understood Qin Yun’s sudden emotional shift, sliding a crystal bun from his plate into her bowl, seemingly encouraging her to eat more, but really calming her, "Eat more. Who knows when we’ll eat again today?"
Qin Yun, whose one-liner had summoned varying thoughts around the table, just picked up the crystal bun from Pei Yan and continued eating.
Nobody at the table was a fool, even someone as straightforward as Wang Sirui figured out Qin Yun’s implication with a bit of thought.
Especially Chen Yao, seasoned in the entertainment circle. Not wanting to make things awkward since they were going to record the program together, he grinned and followed Pei Yan’s topic, "Right, who knows how the director is planning to torture us today, better eat up to not starve."
After Chen Yao spoke, Yang Leqi immediately acted, indicating she didn’t want to be hungry and went to get more food.
"Ah, speaking of which, there’s another house draw soon. I have to shake hands with Mr. Pei again to see if I can get a better house." Wang Sirui’s face twisted, collapsed hopelessly on the table.
Upon this mention, Chen Yao seemed annoyed, "Last time you were the reason I got the worst one, right? It even rained that night, I lost where I was staying and had to crash with Pei Yan."
"I didn’t mean to that day!" Wang Sirui looked aggrieved.
Although no one touched on the previous topic, the deliberate oversight left Qin Hao clenching his phone, cheeks tense as his lips pressed tightly together.
To be overlooked felt far more suffocating than to be questioned.
Perhaps he never truly fit in, which is why he felt so insignificant.
Actually, Chen Yao had shifted the conversation to spare him embarrassment; maybe it was ill thoughts breeding evil intentions — being rotten and expecting others to be the same.
