...

"I don't like that guy." Dongdong popped a bubblegum into her mouth, muttering sideways.

"Who don't you like?" Su Mo followed Dongdong's gaze.

Dorne was working on decryption on a computer in the distance.

Su Mo lowered his voice and asked, "You're talking about Dorne?"

Dongdong: "Yeah."

Su Mo was puzzled: "Why, did he offend you somehow?"

Dongdong shook her head: "No."

Su Mo was even more confused: "Then why do you dislike him? He's always been quite polite and easy to talk to."

Dongdong said quietly, "Boss, I've been scraping by on the Civilized Border for years, seen all sorts of scoundrels and goblins. Do you know what kind of people I dislike the most?"

"I don't dislike those who curse all the time or those thugs who constantly threaten to wipe out families. They seem tough, but their intentions are written all over their faces, easily read."

"The ones I dislike the most are those with kind faces and perpetual smiles."

"These people wear masks of politeness and friendliness, but it's all fake in the Civilized Border. You have no idea what's hiding behind that smile, how they're secretly calculating against you."

Su Mo smiled and patted her head, "Oh dear, you're speaking like a 14-year-old trying to be 41."

Dongdong complained, "Don't tease me; I'm serious."

Su Mo shrugged, "But don't you think your assumptions are too subjective? At least for now, there's no evidence that Dorne is that type of person."

Dongdong said helplessly, "I know, if I had evidence, I would've cracked his head open already, instead of whispering behind his back."

"But don't you find it strange? This guy is overly enthusiastic towards us, claiming to be some benevolent benefactor, always looking out for us, never severe, always smiling at everyone."

"Come on, he's an Iron Blood Alliance special commissioner, overseeing the whole operation, not our nanny!"

"Shouldn't these people be high and mighty, treating us like cattle, scolding us at the drop of a hat?"

"Anyway, when I worked for groups on the Border, even a small mistake would have the contact threatening to dock my pay, always saying—take it or leave it, if you won't, there's always someone who will!"

What Dongdong mentioned, Su Mo had also noticed.

Admittedly, Dorne's way of doing things was quite unique.

Normally, mercenaries were not seen as partners by big corporations, but as "expendables."

They pay you to risk your life.

For the amount they spend on you, you're expected to provide equivalent or even more value.

From the moment they met, Dorne was courteous, humble, and polite. When Wang Wei was injured, he even helped call for the logistics team. This kind of attitude was indeed rare.

Of course, friendly benefactors to mercenaries are not unheard of.

And just because Dorne's attitude is nice doesn't mean he has problems.

Otherwise, it would be a rogue logic.

At least so far, Dorne hasn't shown any harmful behavior to the team.

Rather than subjective speculation, Su Mo preferred to judge by facts.

Su Mo patted Dongdong's head, "Let's get to work. If he makes you uncomfortable, just keep your distance. I'll handle any issues."

"It's nothing, I was just complaining, don't mind me. Go ahead and get busy." Dongdong picked up the Electronic Hacker and continued working.

She walked to the largest metal roll-up door deep in the hangar, found the electronic lock, and placed the Electronic Hacker on it.

The Electronic Hacker ran for five minutes and got so hot it was nearly boiling, yet the electronic lock showed no response.

Dongdong shouted, "Uncle, can this thing even work?"

Dorne waved her off, "Oh, Dong, don't worry, just wait a bit. Depending on the complexity of the electronic lock, the decryption speed can vary, it's normal."

Dongdong had no choice but to keep waiting, muttering under her breath, "Call me 'Dong' so intimately again, and I'll put a fist-sized bump on your head!"

Dongdong waited for half an hour, almost losing her patience and wanting several times to smash the electronic lock with a baseball bat.

"Beep, beep, beep."

Finally, a rhythmic beeping sound rang out, indicating that the electronic lock had been decrypted.

Dongdong walked up to the electronic lock, complaining, "You better have something valuable locked behind here."

She pressed the open button, and the metal roll-up door started to lift.

The dusty air, sealed away for so long, rushed at her, and she waved her hand in front of her nose and turned on the light to look inside.

Soon, she was stunned, her expression turning into delight, "Wow! Get over here, you guys, this is so cool!"

Inside the warehouse stood a gigantic humanoid mecha, nearly 6 meters tall, its entire body composed of intricate machinery and metal components. Underneath that heavy armored shell, who knows how many weapons of destruction were concealed, exuding the violent aesthetic brought by technology.

Despite the years gone by, dust covering the machine, it still stood tall like a Titan, its grandeur unfaltering.

"Whew~" Everyone whistled as they walked over, admiring the mecha together with Dongdong.

Dorne looked up at the mecha, marveling, "Judging by its structure, it should be a neural-controlled type mecha, an artifact of the old days, filled with technological beauty."

Dongdong felt proud, much of her resentment towards Dorne fading, and said in a boastful tone, "Uncle, I'm the one who discovered this gem. How about giving my boss a little extra reward?"

Dorne smiled and said, "I'm afraid that wouldn't be in accordance with the regulations. Everyone's compensation was predetermined and isn't related to what we discover. Besides, though this mecha is stunning, it doesn't qualify as a unique discovery."

Dongdong was taken aback, "What? This doesn't count?"

Dorne shrugged, "Of course not. The Iron Blood Alliance mastered old-era mecha technology long ago. Today's fully automatic combat robots on the market are based on improved mecha technology."
