After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic-Chapter 119: Apology from the Principal
Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Apology from the Principal
Harry Hunter didn’t feel like he’d spoiled his little wife too much; everything he did felt very natural.
After breakfast, he planted a kiss on Isabella Weaver’s forehead before heading to the office.
After he left, Isabella quickly ran to the balcony, watching Harry’s tall figure get into Connor’s car through the window, and only after the car disappeared, did she withdraw her gaze.
She smiled slightly; now, it really felt a bit like married life.
Moreover, ever since their marriage, Harry seemed to have stopped drinking and going to the Royalton Club. He began working normal hours, just like a typical nine-to-five office worker.
Of course, Harry couldn’t possibly be an office worker. He had reclaimed the family’s wealth through marriage, including the family business. He was definitely the leader, not an employee.
Suddenly, her phone rang. Isabella saw it was an unfamiliar number and assumed it was the magazine calling, so she answered right away.
"Hello, is this Isabella Weaver?"
"Yes, this is she."
"I’m Elliot Archer, the dean of Wayne University. Previously, there was a minor misunderstanding, and the school removed your academic record. This was a mistake by a staff member. On behalf of the university, I apologize!"
Isabella was taken aback. Elliot Archer?
The dean himself was calling to apologize!
"Miss Weaver, the university has already severely dealt with the misconduct within and has reinstated your student status. You can continue your studies at Wayne University. Because of your excellent performance during your time here, the university has decided to recommend you directly for graduate studies! Wayne University is proud to have such an outstanding student like you!"
Isabella was silent for a long time, long enough that Elliot Archer on the other end of the line felt very uneasy, and then she spoke softly: "Thank you, Dean, but I don’t need the direct entry for graduate school. Really, just being able to graduate is enough."
She exchanged a few more pleasantries and hung up.
Harry’s figure unexpectedly appeared in her mind. Isabella knew that for the dean of Wayne to personally call someone so insignificant like her, it surely must be Harry’s doing.
Just a few days ago, a teacher from the academic office called her "a disgrace to Wayne University." And today, the dean said the university was proud of her. The contrast was just too stark.
She had already written to the education bureau reporting the academic office teacher for taking bribes and arbitrarily removing a student’s status, but the bureau couldn’t possibly work that quickly.
While she was pondering, her phone rang again, and Isabella picked it up.
"Miss Weaver, this is Boss Palmer from William Palmer’s gallery! We’ve just completed renovations and are reopening. I’m sincerely inviting you to come and join us!"
This time, Isabella was only slightly surprised and accepted Boss Palmer’s invitation.
She still didn’t know what had transpired between Boss Palmer and Harry, but Boss Palmer was highly experienced in managing the gallery and had taken care of her. Comparatively, she preferred the studio at Boss Palmer’s place.
After hanging up Boss Palmer’s call, she pondered for a moment and then sent a text to Harry: "Thank you."
Harry replied almost instantly: "You’re welcome."
Isabella stared at those three words for a long time. Since Harry came into her life, everything was different; with him shielding her from the storms, everything had become smoother.
He truly was as qualified a husband as one could be, but she, as his wife, seemed not so qualified.
Perhaps she should change too, to become a bit more worthy.
With that thought, she sent another message to Harry: "What time do you get off work? Let’s have dinner together."
Harry sat in the car, looking at the message on his phone, and slowly a smile spread across his face.
His little wife was finally growing attached to him!
