After Betrayal: Lightning Marriage to Mr. Enigmatic-Chapter 138: The Old Lady Visits
Chapter 138: Chapter 138: The Old Lady Visits
Isabella Weaver couldn’t adjust her routine for a while; she didn’t feel sleepy at night, and ideas flowed like a spring, designing some quite good necklaces.
It wasn’t until daylight that she felt sleepy.
After tidying up her sketches, she took a shower and changed into pajamas, ready for sleep when Connor arrived.
"Young Madam, Young Master asked me to bring you breakfast!"
Isabella was incredulous: "Didn’t you go with him on his business trip?" She had noticed over the days that Connor was Harry Hunter’s right-hand man, always by his side.
Connor smiled and said, "I was supposed to go with Young Master, but he’s worried you won’t eat breakfast, so he left me here to take care of you."
Isabella remained silent.
Did Harry Hunter leave even his right-hand man for her?
After sending Connor away, Isabella faced a large table of delicious food, but, for the first time, ate without savoring the taste.
She ate part of it, and packed away what she couldn’t finish to reheat for lunch, avoiding waste.
She brushed her teeth, rinsed her mouth, laid on the bed, silenced her phone, and drifted into a hazy sleep.
In a half-dream state, it seemed that someone was moving around her house.
It took her quite a while to realize this wasn’t a dream, but real!
She suddenly opened her eyes and saw her bedroom door, which she had closed, wide open, along with voices speaking:
"How can a girl be so lazy, it’s already noon and she’s still sleeping soundly, how could Little Harry marry someone so unruly! I absolutely do not approve of this marriage!"
"Grandma, Brother Harry is already married, there’s no point opposing it now. If I had known, I wouldn’t have forced him back then; it’s all my fault..."
"How can it be your fault! Cherry, don’t cry, Grandma will stand up for you. Even if he’s married, my disapproval still makes it void!"
Isabella’s mind cleared from confusion, Cherry Lewis?!
And who was the other person?
Did they just barge into her house so shamelessly?
Isabella’s anger was almost uncontrollable, she got up from the bed, walked to the living room, and saw an older woman and a younger one sitting on her sofa, while two bodyguards stood at the door.
Her voice was cold: "Get out!"
The old woman immediately darkened her expression: "Is this how you speak to your elders? No wonder you can only work as a servant to serve others!"
Isabella already guessed her identity and was trying to restrain herself as much as possible out of consideration for Harry Hunter: "People with manners wouldn’t barge into someone else’s home without notice!"
Before the old woman could speak, Cherry Lewis immediately said: "Isabella, are you saying Grandma is ill-mannered? You’re outrageous, hurry up and apologize to Grandma!"
To the old woman, Isabella would restrain herself, but toward Cherry she didn’t need to: "I’m saying you’re ill-mannered, Miss Lewis! Barging into my home, stealing my husband, is this the robber family tradition of the Lewis Family?"
Cherry seemed momentarily at a loss, unable to retort Isabella, and leaned into the old woman’s arms, crying: "Grandma, listen to her nasty words; did I say anything wrong? I’m kindly advising her to apologize, yet she accuses me of stealing her husband when Brother Harry was originally mine. Clearly, she stole my husband!"
The old woman’s face turned even darker: "Great! Wonderful! An impudent wild girl dares to insult me and my granddaughter-in-law! Guards, seize her, and give her a good lesson, let her know how to talk to her elders!"
The two bodyguards acknowledged with a "Yes," and each took a side, dragging Isabella away.
