After Breaking Up, I Married the Dying Tycoon in a Flash-Chapter 374: Tender Trap (Part 16)
An Jiayi heard Xie Zhang’s words, her face full of disappointment, "I thought you would at least tell me, but you played me for a fool! You’re getting married, why didn’t you say anything!"
Her accusation was so desperate and shrill that in the quiet interior of the car, it seemed to tear away the last veil, exposing all the sordid gloom to be replayed in full.
Xie Zhang looked at An Jiayi expressionlessly. At this point, his face had turned cold, and his tone was icy, "You’re telling me all this now, what do you expect me to do for you? An Jiayi, why should I owe you an explanation?"
An Jiayi felt a nauseating taste welling up in her chest. She covered her mouth and fiercely pulled at the locked car door beside her.
"Open the door! I want to get out!" She yanked at the door handle recklessly without considering the consequences.
Xie Zhang’s face changed; he stopped An Jiayi’s frantic actions with his voice tense, "Are you crazy? What are you trying to do!"
"I want to get out! I don’t want to be with you, Xie Zhang, you truly disgust me!" She said, breaking down in tears as she spoke.
Even though she was the one furiously expressing her dissatisfaction, she seemed far more desperate than Xie Zhang.
Xie Zhang gripped An Jiayi’s wrist firmly. His voice was taut as he held tight, "I won’t let you get out of the car. You stay put, and without my permission, you’re not allowed to go anywhere!"
An Jiayi saw the resolution in Xie Zhang’s eyes and suddenly realized something. Her eyes trembled as she said hoarsely, "You want me to stay by your side like this forever, and after you marry Miss Lin, I’ll become your secret mistress, right?"
Her voice was soft, but the words she asked were all the more cutting.
Xie Zhang’s face kept changing. He had a guilty conscience, but at that moment, he couldn’t show it; he lowered his gaze, hiding the complexity in his eyes, and said coldly, "Yes! Even if I get married, I won’t leave you! Jiayi... listen to me, with me, whatever you want, I’ll give you. Isn’t that better than going to someone else?"
An Jiayi nodded repeatedly, tears in her eyes like beads off a string, falling incessantly, "Should I even thank you for thinking so much for me? Xie Zhang, are you even human?"
Xie Zhang pursed his lips. He was just not prepared for An Jiayi to suddenly learn the truth, but now, he had calmed down, so he said in a deep voice, "I know you can’t accept it at once. Rest assured, I’ll give you time."
"Enough!" An Jiayi couldn’t bear it anymore and interrupted Xie Zhang, "Give me time? Xie Zhang, how can you even say that?"
Xie Zhang’s face was tense as he gazed at An Jiayi’s tear-filled eyes, "It’s very late now. Let’s go home, and we can talk about anything tomorrow."
An Jiayi knew she couldn’t leave.
Xie Zhang would not let her go.
Even now, with all the truth laid out and both of them aware that it was time to make a decision.
Yet Xie Zhang refused to let go, preferring both of them to suffer.
An Jiayi sat in the car, feeling Xie Zhang starting the engine, watching as the scenery began to move in her blurred vision. From that moment on, she never said another word.
Downtown, at the Xie Group, in the CEO’s office.
Xie Zhang had picked up An Jiayi from the set without giving any reason, but An Jiayi knew he was afraid she would run away.
An Jiayi had planned to run, but not now; first, she had to make Xie Zhang understand that their relationship really needed to end.
An Jiayi didn’t want to become Jiang Yan.
So, she allowed Xie Zhang to take her away without the desperate resistance of the night before.
In the office, Xie Zhang squatted down, looked up at An Jiayi sitting on the sofa with a trace of gentleness in his eyes, and whispered softly, "Jiayi, what would you like to eat?"
An Jiayi closed her eyes, feeling the sting spread in her eyes.
She said, "I don’t want to eat anything."
"Then you sit and rest well. I’ll finish up and take you home," he continued endearingly, "I moved your favorite fish tank back to Bai Garden, and those vegetables at the door, didn’t you take great care planting them? I’ve moved them all over. From now on, let’s live a good life together."
He said that, immersed in his world.
An Jiayi really didn’t understand how he could be so calm and composed, as if nothing had happened.
Bewilderment appeared on An Jiayi’s face; she opened her eyes, frowned, and looked at Xie Zhang, and after a long while, she said softly, "As long as you’re happy."
It was like punching into cotton, with no reaction.
Xie Zhang did not get the answer he wanted.
His gaze grew dimmer, he smiled, and said slowly, "Of course I’m happy. Having you with me is better than anything else."
As they were at a standstill, someone suddenly opened the door from the outside.
Xie Zhang’s personal assistant, looking anxious and apologetic, said to Mr. Xie, "Mr. Xie, Miss Lin insisted on coming in. I couldn’t stop her."
An Jiayi’s body jolted as if electrocuted, going utterly rigid.
She gazed vacantly upwards and saw the woman who walked in.
The woman was tall and slender, with a neat haircut and a very distinguished aura. What’s important was that she looked confident and assertive, entirely unlike herself, who felt utterly powerless.
Lin Le Yao hadn’t thought before coming that Xie Zhang would bring his mistress into the office.
She was surprised too when she saw An Jiayi on the sofa.
Xie Zhang was the first to speak, his tone unfriendly, "Lin Le Yao, when did I say I wanted to meet you? You come uninvited, don’t you think that’s impolite?"
"What right do you have to talk to me like that?" Lin Le Yao sneered, sitting across from An Jiayi, crossing her long, slender legs. She took a sip of tea from the table and said, "Not a bad tea, have your assistant send some to my place."
Xie Zhang’s expression was icy, "I warn you, get out now, we have nothing to discuss here."
"I have nothing to say to you." Lin Le Yao placed the tea cup down, her gaze fixed on An Jiayi, a smile on her face, "Miss An, I have something to talk to you about."
An Jiayi didn’t know why, but she actually agreed to talk to Lin Le Yao.
Xie Zhang left with a bellyful of anger, and in the office, only the two women remained.
Lin Le Yao smiled graciously, "I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were here when I came."
"Miss Lin, I was with Xie Zhang when he was still single. Don’t worry, I know you are getting married soon, and I will leave him," An Jiayi said earnestly, "If my existence makes you uncomfortable, I apologize to you here."
"It’s just a man, nothing to be uncomfortable about," Lin Le Yao waved it off with nonchalance, "Don’t worry, I didn’t come here to persuade you to leave Xie Zhang."
