After Divorce I Married a Tycoon-Chapter 165: Teaming Up to Get Rid of Her
The owner of those eyes was Joel Jennings.
In his previous regional competition, he had swept through the rounds, crushing all opposition.
He not only defeated numerous opponents in the Kenton region but even secured the top spot.
But today, in the very first round of the finals, he had actually lost to a woman.
Although he had successfully advanced during the third-round face-off,
he would not allow the word ’failure’ to exist in his life’s story.
Especially not when he had lost to a woman he had always looked down on.
This infuriated him, making him feel as though he had been utterly humiliated.
And then there was his model, who had betrayed him.
She had not only shown a look of stunned admiration for his opponent.
He even suspected she hadn’t put any heart into showcasing his designs.
Perhaps she was simply incapable of understanding his unique designs, of grasping what he was trying to express.
Under those circumstances, how could she have possibly presented the beauty of his clothes perfectly?
’Useless...’
’They’re all useless.’
He had to find a chance to teach those two women a lesson.
Especially that Claire Mercer. The judges’ scores for her were the highest among all the contestants today.
And her popularity was the highest of all the contestants, too.
He absolutely could not let her continue on this stage.
With a cold snort, Joel Jennings dialed a number.
Scarlett Jewel was sitting in the luxury car the Sinclair Family had sent to pick her up.
Because she had advanced today, her treatment was a little different than before.
At least the Sinclair Family had finally deigned to send one of their private luxury cars for her.
Unlike before, when she not only had to file a request just to use a car.
The car the Sinclair Family assigned her was the cheapest one they owned.
It made her, the Young Madam of the wealthiest family, look completely undignified in public.
At that moment, she was sitting in the car, leisurely eating the fruit the Sinclair Family had prepared for her.
Although the Sinclair Family looked down on her,
they couldn’t afford to neglect the precious heir in her belly.
So when it came to food, the Sinclair Family never held back.
Whatever she wanted to eat, the Sinclair Family would have it flown in from abroad if they had to.
In the few months since she had moved into the Sinclair estate, they had spent nearly a million on her food alone.
Just as she was eating some cherries air-freighted from Aeridor by the Sinclair Family,
an unknown number called her phone.
Without a second thought, she hung up.
But the person didn’t give up and sent her a text message.
"Miss Jewel, this is Joel Jennings."
"I know you despise Claire Mercer. So do I."
"So, I was wondering if you might be interested in collaborating with me?"
After seeing the message, Scarlett Jewel took the initiative and called Joel Jennings back.
She got straight to the point:
"Mr. Jennings, what kind of collaboration did you have in mind?"
Joel Jennings said, "My plan is to knock Claire Mercer off her pedestal and drag her through the mud during the grand finale."
"You are the Young Madam of a prominent family in Rhonia. You have connections, status, and money in this city."
"As someone from Kenton, I can’t compare to you in those respects."
"Since we both despise her, why don’t we join forces to eliminate her?"
"I want to know, why do you hate Claire Mercer so much?" Scarlett Jewel asked.
Joel Jennings snorted, his tone dripping with contempt.
"I, Joel Jennings, have been at the top of my game my entire life."
"I’ve never lost to a woman who was my inferior."
"Losing to Claire Mercer today... I can’t accept it."
"She used her own sob story to generate hype and gain sympathy from the public."
"All so she could get the most popularity votes during the competition."
"Such a low-down, dirty trick. It’s despicable."
"If she hadn’t built up all that hype for herself beforehand, the audience votes wouldn’t have been so high."
"Even though I lost to her in the first round, I look down on her methods from the bottom of my heart."
"Someone like her doesn’t deserve to remain in this competition. She’ll tarnish this sacred stage."
Hearing this, Scarlett Jewel’s lips curled into a very satisfied smile.
’I can’t believe someone else hates Claire Mercer as much as I do,’ she thought.
She knew that this Joel Jennings was just lashing out in shame and anger because he’d lost to Claire Mercer.
He felt he’d lost face by losing to a woman.
’But what does that matter?’
’As long as our goals and our enemy are the same, that’s all that matters.’
She had been worrying about not finding an opportunity to move against Claire Mercer, always holding back.
She was terrified that if the Rowan Family found out she was plotting against Claire Mercer, they would come after her.
’Now, someone is volunteering to be the knife in my hand. Why would I refuse?’
"Do you have a specific plan?"
"I have a preliminary plan, but it’s not easy to explain over the phone."
"I was wondering if Mrs. Sterling might have some time for us to discuss the details face-to-face."
"No problem. I’ll call you tomorrow afternoon."
"Excellent, Young Madam. I’ll be waiting for your call."
After hanging up, Scarlett Jewel’s mood became even more cheerful.
Advancing today had made her quite happy.
But someone else wanting Claire Mercer to get the hell off this stage as much as she did made her even happier.
’Looks like today really is a good day,’ she thought.

Meanwhile, at a late-night snack shop on Rhonia’s food street.
Claire Mercer, Adrian Sutton, and Stella Thorne arrived at the shop early.
After the three of them found a private room and sat down, Stella Thorne went to the owner and ordered ten pounds of crayfish.
"Ten pounds of crayfish?" Claire Mercer’s eyes widened.
"Stella, there are only five of us. Can we finish all that?"
"Why wouldn’t we?" Stella Thorne puffed out her chest proudly.
"I can eat two or three pounds all by myself. I’m actually worried ten pounds won’t be enough."
At her words, even Adrian Sutton couldn’t help but look up at her. "..."
Claire Mercer laughed. "Looks like you’ve really been craving this."
Stella Thorne thought about how, during the competition, she had spent every night watching food vlogs.
It was pure torture, consoling herself with the sight of food while swallowing her own saliva...
"I haven’t had a full meal lately. It’s been nothing but bland soups and simple dishes every day. I’m practically malnourished."
But the thought of finally getting to eat the braised crayfish she’d been dreaming of instantly revived her, making her eyes shine.
"Let me tell you, Claire, I’ve ordered takeout crayfish from this place before, and the flavor is absolutely to die for."
After speaking, she winked at Adrian Sutton and said,
"Adrian Sutton, I suggest you learn how to make this place’s crayfish."
"Claire is definitely going to fall in love with their crayfish. Once you learn how to make it, I guarantee Claire will find it harder and harder to live without you."
As soon as she said this, a hint of a smile appeared on Adrian Sutton’s face.
"I’ll find some time to learn."
Meanwhile, Claire Mercer couldn’t help but gently tap Stella Thorne.
"Stella, what nonsense are you talking about..."
’Harder and harder to live without him?’
’She’s getting more and more ridiculous.’
Stella Thorne dodged her tap with a laugh and said slyly,
"Hey, what I meant was his cooking is so delicious, his skills are on par with a Michelin-starred chef."
"He’s such a great cook, you definitely wouldn’t want to part with his amazing culinary skills."
"Look at you, what are you getting so worked up about? You’re the one who misunderstood me, right?"
Claire Mercer: "..."
She realized that not only had Stella Thorne become more cheerful and outgoing recently, but her tongue had also gotten much sharper.
She was always teasing her and Adrian Sutton...
Just as she was thinking this, Stella Thorne looked toward the window by the door and said,
"Huh, why does it look like Roxanne and Silas Rowan are getting out of the same car?"
