After Rebirth, I Accept The Arranged Marriage-Chapter 134: He Can’t Sit Still Anymore
It truly was like Pandora’s box. Victor Morgan thought he could resist the temptation, but as it turned out, he could barely control himself when it came to anything involving Jessie Sterling.
Victor Morgan clicked on the webcomic Serena Lynch had shared with him.
New Marriage Diary
The title seemed to make his eyes light up.
The earlier parts of the story were based on a mix of reality and Jessie Sterling’s imagination, but the recent updates had a completely different tone from what came before.
Victor Morgan had never been interested in things like webcomics before. Though he found it a little strange reading one now, he focused intently since it was Jessie Sterling’s creation.
By the time he caught up to the latest few Chapters, the faint smile that had initially graced his eyes had vanished completely.
When the first male supporting character appeared, the number of comments below the webcomic suddenly exploded.
The comments Victor Morgan had seen before were all things like, "So sweet!" But ever since the latest updates introduced a host of male supporting characters, the male lead seemed to have completely vanished from the minds of Jessie Sterling’s readers. The newest comments were almost all about the other men.
"I love the beastman! WAKAKA, you know, hehehe... it’s gotta feel different than doing it with a human!"
"The sophisticated scoundrel! Aaaah, Author, how do you know my kinks so well?! You have to make this second male lead the main one!"
"You gotta go for the younger guys, okay? I’m rooting for the college boy! What’s not to love about a cute puppy-dog type? The kind that can turn into a big bad wolf in bed? Plus, the way he dotes on his ’older woman’? I can’t even! So hot!"
"I’d rather she summon a different one to her bed each night—all of them have faces I love! I’m tired of the male lead. Or maybe just demote the male lead to a supporting character, hahaha."
"I think the male lead is a bit dense and clueless, a total straight man. He has no game. If this were real life, I’d probably break up with him in less than a month. There’s no excitement. I still prefer the younger, puppy-dog type. That guy really fits the author’s supporting character description: young, strong, has stamina, and hahaha, he really knows how to seduce someone. Ssss... huff..."
The more comments Victor Morgan read, the darker his expression became.
’What is all this nonsense?’
’Is it popular for fans to ship-wreck the official couple these days?’
Victor Morgan reported all the comments demanding the supporting character be "promoted to male lead" or wanting an "all in" harem ending.
’The state of society is really going downhill. Monogamy has been the law for so many years, and now people are actually advocating for polyandry? It’s absolute madness!’
Victor Morgan knew Jessie Sterling wouldn’t answer his calls. Even his texts were like stones sinking into the ocean; he hadn’t gotten a single reply from her in days.
However, he was gradually coming to accept it.
’You really do have to placate your wife right away, or the consequences will be severe.’
He had already chased her from Aethelburg to Southaven, which was a clear sign he was swallowing his pride. So, even if Jessie Sterling didn’t reply to his messages now, Victor Morgan didn’t feel it was anything to be ashamed of.
Jessie Sterling wasn’t replying to his messages, but at least she hadn’t blocked him. He could still follow her movements through her social media feed—where she went, what she did, what she ate. That gave Victor Morgan some peace of mind.
But now, the calm that Victor Morgan had worked so hard to find was once again in turmoil.
’Is Jessie just posting the things she doesn’t mind me knowing?’
’Could Jessie really be meeting other men, just like in her webcomic?’
’And maybe it’s not just one? But a whole group of them?’
’Western men aren’t exactly reserved. Could they be hitting on my wife right on the street?’
’Besides, my wife is young to begin with; she looks like a college student who hasn’t even graduated. It’s perfectly plausible that someone like that would be pursued by a younger college guy, isn’t it?’
Victor Morgan was deeply troubled.
He couldn’t help but text Jessie Sterling, and this time, he desperately hoped for a quick reply.
[Victor Morgan: How have you been?]
When Jessie Sterling received Victor Morgan’s message, a giant question mark popped into her head.
’Of course I’m doing great. I’m happy every day. Things couldn’t be better.’
Just as she had been doing, Jessie Sterling didn’t reply to Victor Morgan.
However, she kept staring at her phone.
’Let’s see, if I calculate the time... Serena Lynch shared my webcomic with Victor, so he’s probably finished reading it by now.’
Before, Victor Morgan would probably just send two or three messages a day to say hello, and that would be it. But today was different.
Soon enough, Jessie Sterling received a second message from Victor Morgan.
[Victor Morgan: The economy’s in a downturn, and there are a lot of scammers out there. You and Lynn Jennings should be careful when you’re out.]
Jessie Sterling immediately smiled. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
’So sanctimonious!’ she couldn’t help but think.
[Victor Morgan: Especially the ones who approach you.]
[Victor Morgan: Some scammers look very young, but they’re actually good-for-nothings.]
[Victor Morgan: If anything happens, call me, okay?]
Just as Jessie Sterling was internally grumbling about how sanctimonious Victor Morgan was, a flurry of new messages arrived from the man on the other end of the line.
Jessie Sterling couldn’t hide the smile on her face at all, and she finally let out a laugh.
Hearing the sound, Lynn Jennings looked up. Although she couldn’t see Jessie Sterling’s phone screen, she could already guess the source. "President Morgan texting you?"
Jessie Sterling nodded. "He’s telling me to watch out for young scammers, and that if anyone approaches us, especially men, they probably have bad intentions. He said we should be careful, particularly in bars, hahahaha—"
If, after all that, Jessie Sterling still couldn’t figure out what Victor Morgan was truly bothered by, she might as well not have a head on her shoulders.
Lynn Jennings couldn’t help but laugh too. "Looks like our President Morgan is pretty worried about younger college guys."
Who could blame him, when Jessie had been giving the most screen time to the young, college-aged supporting character recently?
Especially in yesterday’s update, where the college boy asked the female lead to a bar. Young men are like peacocks spreading their tails; when they see a girl they like, they want to puff out all their feathers and show off from every conceivable angle.
And so, the young college guy even got up on the bar’s stage with a guitar and passionately serenaded the female lead.
"He’s getting antsy," Lynn Jennings judged. "How are you going to reply?"
"I’m not going to!" Jessie Sterling lifted her chin haughtily, looking just like a noble Persian cat.
Lynn Jennings: "Good girl!" She couldn’t resist walking over and, as if stroking a little kitten, reached out to gently pinch the soft flesh under Jessie Sterling’s chin. "This is how we bad girls do it. Keep him on the hook! Don’t ever let him feel at ease!"
Jessie Sterling nodded emphatically. "Mhm!"
"Tonight, you should draw her sleeping with the young, energetic college boy! You’ve been teasing this for so long, you have to give the readers something with a little less clothing, right?" Lynn Jennings coaxed.
Jessie Sterling: "???"
’Isn’t that a little too provocative?’
But the thought of Victor Morgan seeing it...
’...is actually pretty satisfying!’
