Chapter 1861: Free Half-orcs (Part 1)

"He is a guard captain! Scary but alright."

"What?"

The Tigress, Freya, looked at the dwarves, not really believing them. She did not believe they had ever been away from the valley at all, in fact, even if they kept saying otherwise.

The cubs of each race tended to have wild imaginations. Well, if they were free, that was. Her youth as a slave was naturally different. She was too busy surviving to even imagine anything.

This was what she (and the others) believed until the dwarves started getting detailed about their stories.

"Hmnn, he was really big, bigger than you!" one said, pointing at Freya.

"Only him, the other two half-orcs I saw in that bee-di-o, are just a bit bigger than Nana."

"They’re all guards they said. Their uniforms are so cool!"

While the three of them were pitifully tied up back then, there were plenty of terrans who gossiped with them, whipping up their phones, and showing off some of their stored images and videos.

"I hear they were lovers," one said, hearing more gossip than the others. This intrigued the others and somehow the three dwarves ended up just gossiping with each other.

"The red one and the white one?!"

"OooOOOhhh! Do they kiss?"

The trio blabbered around like this, gossiping passionately about people they had never met and only saw on video. If Terrans were there, they’d laugh and say ’how modern of them’.

They did not seem to notice that the dismissive expression on the tigress’ face slowly shifted to one of confusion, disbelief, and even hope.

"You mean to say that there is also another territory that welcomes half-orcs and lets them have such high positions?"

"Ya! He eats a lot, too!" In their minds, more food = more power.

Cotto nodded. "He makes good barbecue," he said. One of the humans had a video of a campfire. They were singing, and they had a cool musical instrument with strings. There, while someone was singing and playing the ’gee-tar’, the big half-orc was cooking.

For someone with such large hands, he has excellent control of heat and sauces. (They knew this because one of the humans who showed the videos made side comments about it).

Baku’s barbecue was indeed very good. It was one of his (many) favorite food, after all, and he had invested quite a bit of his hard-earned money to fill his space with several types of sauces he could use. There was even a brush in there, making sure the sauces were evenly spread out!

Of course, these things weren’t something the people here could imagine.

Freya didn’t really believe it, but she just didn’t ruin their moods by pointing it out.

"Can you make good barbecue, Miss Freya?"

The reddish tigress looked at the three dwarves, confused. "Why ask me?"

"He looks a lot like you, except white," they said as they looked at the tigress.

At this, Nana flinched. "White tiger? Did you get his name?"

"Hmmm. I think they called him Baka."

"No, they called him Becky."

"Huh? Of course not—"

Unexpectedly, it was the bird-orc who answered. "Baku?"

"Yes! That one!" the young dwarf exclaimed. "How did you know?"

The flying orc covered her mouth in shock, her eyes teary, her voice shaky.

"I...you mentioned two other half orcs...can you describe them to me? And do...do you know their names?"

The trio looked at each other and pondered. Dwarves were quite smart. So, although they may not perfectly remember everything mentioned to them in passing, they remembered just enough.

"One had long ears. Very cute. Her name starts with em sound—"

"Maomao?"

"YES, yes! You’re amazin, you a prophet?"

"...what about the other one?"

"It’s a man. Reddish fur. Handsome."

"His name is...er... Go—"

"Gochi?"

"YES!"

At this, Nana’s knees buckled and she broke into tears. The three dwarves gasped and panicked, thinking it was their fault. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

They paced around in anxiety, though their steps were so small they really hadn’t been able to cover much area.

It took several minutes before Nana calmed down. Her babies hugged her, not knowing why their mother was sad, and she just took them into her arms.

"My home...in my home, I was friends with a few other half-orcs," she said. "We were separated by a war...and for a while I thought it’d be impossible for me to see them again in this lifetime, but..."

She had no idea where the others were taken. She even thought Baku had perished.

Of course, this white tiger could’ve just had the same name as her friend, and maybe the dwarves just accepted her guesses of the other two’s names. The dwarves might’ve misremembered details, but Nana didn’t really think about it.

Regardless of the truth, she just wanted to believe it, and the thought made her tears flow down endlessly.

She was first sold off Southwest of the Village, which was Crystal City. She was heavily pregnant at the time, and she had given birth to a litter there. She gave birth to six. One, the last one, died in her womb.

She hadn’t even been able to mourn for her youngest when the other three were taken from her.

The only ones remaining were Kuma, named after the baby’s father and looked like him as well. And then there was Koko, who took after her.

She only managed to save two with her because she gave birth alone, and she managed to hide them before the slave owners arrived. They were the two first borns, and she hid them before she continued giving birth to the rest.

The slave owners ignored her pleas and took her other babies away from her. She was brought to Holt by another businessman via a teleportation array, separating her from more of her loved ones.

The only fortunate part was that the new owners did not notice that she had hidden her children, pretending to still be pregnant.

Thinking of a possible reunion, she couldn’t help but hug her two children even more tightly.

They’ll find more of their family soon, wouldn’t they?
