After The Abyss Dragon Woke Up-Chapter 102.1
Dragon and the Dragon Slayer (1)
Compared to the cold and harsh Aiwen District, the Luosi District was a mild place.
The climate in the east was warm, the air was humid, and the terrain was flat and livable.
But it was completely different in the west.
It was a vast uninhabited area, dominated by volcanoes and canyons, with complex terrain and strange and ugly magical creatures crawling through shadow-covered valleys to survive. The icy blue peaks of the Aiwen Snowfield could be seen from afar on a clear day, but such times were infrequent.
After leaving the densely mist-covered ocean that could only be passed with the boat’s radar, Mu Heng and his group’s speed immediately accelerated.
Although all the mercenaries were contained and the news was blocked entirely, after all, there was no impenetrable wall in the world.
Therefore, they had to seize every minute and second now.
They arrived at the Luosi District’s Volcanic Region within just half a day.
Mu Heng gently shook the drowsy young man leaning on his shoulder awake.
Shi An yawned, blinked his sleepy eyes, and grunted in his throat.
“Hm… what’s going on? Have we arrived?”
Mu Heng answered, “Almost.”
He casually rubbed Shi An’s hair. “But we have to go on foot next.”
Shi An looked out through the window.
Outside was a desolate and quiet scene. The land was a scorched black color as if it had been burned, and withered weeds grew between the cracks in the ground. It was deserted and no trace of human civilization could be seen as far as the eye could see.
In the distance were dark mountains and the black sky shrouded in smoke and shadows.
Shi An could smell the faint smell of sulfur in the air.
He blinked.
“Volcanoes?”
“Mm.”
Mu Heng lowered his eyes and gazed at Shi An with those calm blue eyes of his.
“It’s the terrain a dragon likes, isn’t it?”
Shi An thought seriously and said, “I think that’s only a rumor.”
Of course, it was for some dragons.
After all, there were flames that burned all year round, the air smelled of familiar and comforting smoke to dragons, and the searing temperatures were perfect for cold-blooded creatures like them. ɽ𝓪ɴο𝖇Ɛ𝙨
But Shi An didn’t like it much.
The temperature was acceptable, but the biggest problem was that it was too bright.
It was okay for a short-term stay but not for too long. Those bright lavas would affect his sleep.
In comparison, Shi An still preferred the dark and dry cave in the abyss, where he could sleep for tens of thousands of years.
A fleeting, unpredictable smile swept across Mu Heng’s lips. “Maybe.”
The group traveled toward the volcano area.
The more they went forward, the hotter the temperature became.
It seemed as if tiny sparks were floating in the air and the smell of sulfur became more distinct, gradually making people feel unbearable.
Zhuo Fu followed the group with a sad face.
Such a high-intensity march was unsuitable for a researcher who preferred to stay indoors.
Zhuo Fu regretted it immediately after the second day on the ship.
Traveling by boat sounded very nice, but only if… one wasn’t seasick.
While on board, Zhuo Fu stayed in his cabin most of the time, spending significant portions of his waking hours vomiting and getting dizzy.
And that evening, during the battle with the mercenaries, the magic fluctuations set off even bigger waves so that Zhuo Fu almost couldn’t even step foot on the ground.
And that also happened to be when he vomited the most.
The short stay in the mercenary base was instead the most relaxing time for Zhuo Fu, where he could put his feet on the ground and make use of his professional skills.
But that time passed too quickly.
Zhuo Fu had not recovered yet and was pulled to this ghostly place where no one lived.
Regret.
There was too much regret.
He should not have come in the first place.
It’s winter now and as soon as you go over that mountain, in front of you is the cold Aiwen Snowfield.
Why is it so hot here?
Zhuo Fu pulled a long face and wiped the slick sweat from his forehead with his pinched and crumpled handkerchief.
He lifted his head and looked around.
At this point, Zhuo Fu’s eyes fell on Shi An, who was not far from him.
He hadn’t seen much of Shi An during this period.
Most of the time, Zhuo Fu either stayed in the cabin, vomited, or was busy searching the mercenary base.
It was hard to see Shi An on this occasion, so Zhuo Fu couldn’t help but feel energized.
He hurriedly accelerated a few steps.
“An An! It has been so long since the last time I saw you. Did you miss me?”
Shi An was slightly stunned and raised his eyes to look over.
After a brief moment of surprise, he only looked dazed and said, “Ah! Right, you’re also here.”
The young man pursed his lips and gave a shy smile. “I almost forgot.”
Zhuo Fu: “…”
Not almost, but you have already forgotten, right?
I’m hurt, thanks.
At this point, he seemed to have found something, widened his eyes in surprise, and walked around Shi An twice, carefully sizing up the other person.
The young man in front of him had half-smiling eyes, with a bit of sleepiness that had not yet wholly dissipated, soft and fluffy hair, fair and clean skin from the cheeks to the neck, without a trace of sweat, looking as if he was not at all affected by the stifling heat around him.
