"Mr. Zhu, Mr. Zhou, take care on your way out," Little Wang beamed with a great mood, often posturing, but the sense of achievement varied depending on whom he was showing off to.

Zhu Hu and Zhou Hongwei were both Beijing Circle big shots. A few years ago, just sitting with them would have required the leftover influence of Wanda, let alone daring to show off in front of them.

"How about checking out the new bar on Huaihai Road? I’ve heard it has a great atmosphere," he looked at Lu Liang, extending the invitation.

It was past nine, the perfect time to head out feeling slightly buzzed; going home to sleep now would be a waste of youth.

"You go ahead, I’ve got something to take care of later," Lu Liang said with a bitter expression, rubbing his temples.

"Zeh? What’s so troubling for you?" Little Wang was surprised, sensing a whiff of gossip.

"Don’t pry into matters that don’t concern you."

Lu Liang gave him a stern look, waited for Fang Shiyu to drive over, then took a seat in the back and waved, "I’m off."

"Take care," Little Wang watched Lu Liang leave, then dialed a few girls, planning to indulge himself wholeheartedly tonight.

For the coming year, he needed to turn over a new leaf, prioritizing Panda’s listing above all, so tonight, he intended to enjoy himself to the fullest.

Meanwhile, Fang Shiyu drove across Nanpu Bridge to the other side, arriving at Green City Huangfu Bay.

He had bought two houses here last year; one for his parents to use as a temporary stay in Modu, and the other for Su Wanyu.

But his parents had only visited once and never returned, and Su Wanyu had gone abroad for studies at the end of the year, leaving the place empty for over half a year.

Today, it welcomed a new tenant—Xu Jiawei had come back from Lu Liang’s hometown, bringing Lu Ya with him.

"Shiyu, your sister Ya is here; let’s go up and see her," Lu Liang thought it through; he needed a wingman, even if they weren’t that sharp. Frankly, he was somewhat afraid of being alone with Lu Ya; she was his sister but still daring enough to get physical.

"Okay," Fang Shiyu’s usually stolid face couldn’t help but show a hint of joy.

When they were young, Lu Ya had always been the boss, taking good care of all her younger brothers and sisters.

The two went upstairs, and Xu Jiawei stood at the door like a guardian deity.

"Is the visa all set?" Lu Liang asked.

Xu Jiawei nodded, "It’ll be valid the day after tomorrow."

"You’ve done well, you can go back and rest early if there’s nothing else," Lu Liang didn’t want outsiders around for the following family affairs, to avoid a total loss of face.

Suddenly, he called out to Xu Jiawei, who was about to leave: "Get in touch with Zhuo Yifan, ask him to come back first."

Lu Ya was going abroad for the first time and didn’t know English, so Lu Liang was a bit concerned. He planned to have Zhuo Yifan accompany her throughout the trip, even if just to run errands and handle boarding procedures.

"Alright, Mr. Lu."

After Xu Jiawei left, the door was unlocked, and Lu Liang led Fang Shiyu inside. As they were changing shoes in the entryway, they heard Lu Ya’s voice coming from the living room.

"Yu, you really should have told your sister about something so important."

"Are you settling in okay in the UK?"

"How about this, I’ll come to see you the day after tomorrow."

"What, am I not your sister?"

"That’s decided then..."

From the corner of her eye, Lu Ya spotted Lu Liang and Fang Shiyu. Lu Liang sheepishly smiled, "Video calling?"

Lu Ya hummed an affirmation, her attitude rather cold: "That guy’s back; you two have a chat."

Suddenly, she caught the scent of alcohol and frowned slightly, whispering, "I’ll go make you a bowl of noodles."

Even if they weren’t on the best terms, he was still her brother. Her coldness was partly personal emotion, largely a front for Su Wanyu’s benefit.

The young girl was pregnant, studying abroad on her own, while the father of her child was entangled with another girl back home.

Anyone would feel wronged. Lu Ya was a woman and a mother of two, well aware of the trials of pregnancy and the importance of providing emotional value.

Therefore, she had to take Su Wanyu’s side, condemn Lu Liang’s wrongdoings, and, as a representative of the in-law’s side, acknowledge and accept the child in the womb.

Lu Ya turned to Fang Shiyu, "How’s your appetite lately?"

Fang Shiyu grinned sheepishly, "About the same as before."

Lu Ya nodded, understanding, took two bundles of dried noodles, and prepared to cook one whole bundle and a fifth of the other.

The United Kingdom and China have a seven-hour time difference, so it’s now just after two in the afternoon in Edinburgh.

Lu Liang picked up Lu Ya’s phone and walked to the balcony, "How have you been recently?"

"I’m doing quite well. Professor Tesding and his colleagues even came to see me specially. Your donation must have made an impact."

Su Wanyu’s smile blossomed beautifully, the coldness that once characterized her no longer evident, replaced by a glow of motherhood.

She aimed the camera at her prominently rounded belly and gently stroked it, "Siqing, say hello to daddy."

She was 34 and a half weeks pregnant, and the baby moved frequently every day. Just then, her belly started to squirm slightly.

Su Wanyu’s brow furrowed gently, but her face still beamed with a smile, "You don’t know how mischievous she is. I don’t even know who she takes after."

"She takes after me, who else?" Lu Liang said with eyes full of tenderness, as if he could see through the screen to the tiny life within.

He was silent for a long moment before saying softly, "I have to attend a new energy conference on Hai Island in the middle to late next month. It’s expected to last a week. Once I’m done, I’ll make sure to come to you as soon as possible."

"It’s alright. Look, the conditions here are very good, and the hospital is right next door."

Su Wanyu smiled and lifted her phone, sweeping it around the room.

It seemed she wanted to prove that she was doing well, reassuring Lu Liang so he wouldn’t worry. He could come over after he had wrapped up his work.

Lu Liang said softly, "Lu Ya plans to come over to take care of you. She has more experience. I’ve booked a ticket for her the day after tomorrow."

"Won’t it be a bother?"

"Of course not. She doesn’t have much to do at home these days, and it’ll be good for both of you to walk around and shop together."

"Alright then, send me the flight information when you have a chance. I’ll ask Uncle Zheng to pick her up."

"No need, I have friends there who can take Lu Ya directly to you when the time comes."

The two made small talk for a while, exchanging details about their daily lives, and finally ended the call.

When Lu Liang returned inside, Fang Shiyu had finished off a big pot of noodles, leaving just the bowl meant for Lu Liang, with the soup all soaked up.

"Shiyu, why don’t you go downstairs for a walk and digest a bit? I want to talk to Liang for a moment," Lu Ya said suddenly.

Her decisive tone made it hard for anyone to consider refusal, leaving Lu Liang with a wry smile, "Go on."

With Fang Shiyu gone, Lu Ya handed a pair of chopsticks to Lu Liang, "It’s all stuck together, but make do and eat."

"This is the right creamy texture to eat."

Lu Liang smiled, flattering without a sound.

Lu Ya asked, "What do you think you’re doing, leaving them to wander alone like that?"

"Wander? Her studies aren’t finished. When they’re done, she’ll return to the country."

The noodles had absorbed the soup and turned into a noodle cake,

The temperature was just right, and Lu Liang quickly finished eating.

"What are your plans for them afterward?" Lu Ya had a bad feeling when she knew the baby’s full name included Su.

Lu Liang’s smile remained as he suddenly gestured with his index finger in a circle, "This apartment is for mom and dad, and for you to occasionally stay. There’s another one right next door with a bigger floor plan, which I’m keeping for Yu."

Lu Ya’s face darkened, "I’m not asking about that. Is there nothing else besides this?"

Lu Liang sighed, "But this is all I have, and all I can offer."

Lu Ya fell silent, sighing heavily, "So what about your little girlfriend then?"

"Same approach."

Lu Liang wore an unabashed smile that made him seem shameless.

Lu Ya’s eyebrows knitted tightly, looking at him without being able to smile, "Maybe it’s just me who doesn’t understand."

She said further, "I can activate my visa the day after tomorrow. Arrange my travel for me, please."

"No problem. Enjoy yourself tomorrow, I’ll arrange a tour guide for you."

"You remember Wanting, right? She got married to Modu. I want to visit her tomorrow, pick up a few things, and then leave the day after."

"Let Shiyu drive for you then. You’ve never been to Modu, it’d be better if you didn’t wander around unfamiliar places alone."

"That works."

When night fell, Lu Liang left. His connections in Modu allowed him to have homes everywhere, and he headed straight for the Skyline District.

Before heading upstairs, he said to Fang Shiyu, "Drive for your little sister Ya tomorrow, so no need to come and pick me up."
