Chapter 406: Chapter 151 The Reflection of the Burning Tree of Omniscience

Doris.

On the sea cliffs along the coast.

Waves surging from the horizon, bringing with them a momentum as if to swallow the world, crashed heavily against the cliffs, spraying countless white wave crests that, in an instant, were swept away by the howling sea wind, turning into a downpour that fell upon Doris City.

Yet, even in such harsh conditions, there were people who stepped out of their homes and came to the cliffs, looking out towards the great tree at the end of the sea.

That was the reflection of the Tree of Omniscience.

And beneath that tree, there was a battle happening, the strongest battle beneath the heavens. The intensity of the fight shocked both the sea and the sky, with waves so massive they even affected the coastal nations.

If the battle hadn’t taken place in the deep sea, the Kingdom of Doris would have been submerged by now, erased from this world.

Eden watched the battle at the sea’s horizon in silence, a faint golden barrier shining around her, shielding her from the sea winds and the waves.

However.

"Hey." Suddenly patted on the shoulder, Eden turned her head slightly to glance at the Goddess of Lies who had appeared beside her, then calmly withdrew her gaze, focusing all her attention back on the battle at the end of the sea.

The Goddess of Lies didn’t mind, her hands clasped behind her back as she leaned forward slightly, inquiring to Eden,

"Do you just plan on watching from the side?" Her melodious voice revealed curiosity, "They all have a close relationship with you, right?"

"..."

Eden shook her head gently, but she didn’t explain to the Goddess of Lies why she wasn’t stopping any of this. It would be very easy for her to influence the outcome of the war if she wanted to, just by interfering with the reflection of the Tree of Omniscience. She could effortlessly strengthen Adam, or weaken Adam, thus swaying the battle’s outcome.

But she just planned on watching the battle, providing no help to Adam, nor diminishing his strength.

The outcome of the battle would be decided by them alone.

"If Ahtal becomes a Demon," the Goddess of Lies touched her moist lips with a fingertip, as if asking casually, "he would possess the power to harm the Tree of Omniscience. Do you really not care at all?"

"Even if Ahtal becomes a Demon, he couldn’t do it right away," Eden explained. If she resisted, then even if Ahtal turned into a Demon, he would not be able to destroy the Tree of Omniscience. It was a matter of the inherent power gap between the two sides, something not achievable by Ahtal, newly transformed into a Demon.

However, if she didn’t resist and even guided Ahtal’s power to consume her, the situation would be different.

"That’s true," the Goddess of Lies nodded slightly, her smile brimming as she said, "Ahtal wouldn’t bear to turn you into ashes either. If a beauty like you were to be burned into ashes by the Ash Fire, that would indeed be too much of a pity."

Her opinion of the All-Knowing Saintess had always been high; not only was she someone who knew everything, but she also possessed a compassion that surpassed gods’, yet did not recklessly interfere with the world because of that compassion.

This All-Knowing Saintess had her own bottom line.

However, what exactly that bottom line was, she couldn’t quite grasp, only sensing that the All-Knowing Saintess had her own set of standards for acting in this world.

"Sigh~ The outcome of the battle is about to be decided." The Goddess of Lies suddenly covered her mouth, looking worriedly towards the end of the sea, "It’s truly worthy of the first human, perhaps humans really were made in the image of gods."

There was an interpretation within the teachings of this world that humans were created in the image of gods. Therefore, humans could attain miracles and the power of gods by continuously refining their souls, which were like lead stones, until they were pure.

Surrounding this teaching, two different theories had developed. One was the most orthodox path of divine companionship, by which one could attain the status of a god’s consort through continuous pursuit of the divine way, ultimately reaching the height of gods.

The other was through constant self-refinement, to achieve transcendence and obtain power equal to that of the gods.

...

...

Light descended from the canopy of the tree.

"You... who are you?" Xi Mu frowned, looking at the figure that had transformed into light opposite him. It was Adam’s third stage of transformation, closely resembling the form of the God of Omniscience. It was as if they were cast from the same mold.

Adam did not answer, lifting the Blood Kin Knight’s Sword in his hand and swinging it carelessly. A roaring flood of light instantly submerged Ahtal, the momentum unrelenting as it split the sea and surged towards land.

But as it neared, it was distorted by an invisible force, the roaring flood of light vanished, and a canyon that spread from the end of the sea starkly appeared before everyone’s eyes.

The battle was over.

Adam lowered his sword. After ascending to the throne of godhood, his power had exploded in strength, but the cost was that his persona had to face an onslaught of information from the realm of the gods. If he did not renounce his godly state, he, too, would collapse.

However, just as he was about to renounce his godly state, malice from the Witch spread across from the edge of the sky. Even in his current state of godhood, he felt his skin crawl with the impending sense of death, as if he would perish in the next second.

Without a second thought,

Adam immediately teleported away, appearing beneath the Tree of Omniscience and without hesitation, exerted all his strength to spread the reflection of the Tree.

The already enormously majestic reflection of the Tree of Omniscience, in that moment, expanded rapidly, spreading its roots into the sea below, the canopy taking the place of the boundless sky.

Yet, even so, he still felt unsafe. The death premonition that was hot on his heels battered against every nerve in Adam’s body.
