Aísē: My Five Supernatural Wives-Chapter 122: Let’s see how you handle this
"You’re still our enemy," Aisha said, her whips crackling with energy.
Mephistopheles laughed, a low, melodic sound that sent shivers down their spines.
"Enemy? Oh, my dear girls. You misunderstand."
She walked towards us, her movements graceful and unhurried.
"You’ve proven your worth. You’ve passed my little test."
She looked at me, her eyes gleaming with pride.
Now I could see her intentions clearly.
Mephistopheles had tested us, pushed us to our limits, to be prepared for what’s to come.
"So what happens now?" I asked, my voice steady.
Mephistopheles smiled, a predatory glint in her eyes. "Now? Now your real training begins."She gestured to the destroyed remains of the knights.
"Those were mere toys. Austin...and the forces helping him, your enemies are far more powerful, and they won’t hesitate to destroy everything you hold dear."
She stepped closer, her voice dropping to a whisper.
"But with my guidance, you will become strong enough to protect them. Strong enough to face any threat that comes your way."
Her gaze swept over Liliana and Aisha..
"And these two... they will be your anchors, your strength when you falter."
Liliana and Aisha looked at each other, then back at me.
"What is she talking about?" Liliana asked, her voice laced with suspicion.
She still held her sword pointed at Mephistopheles, her body tense and ready for a fight.
"We’re not going to trust you," Aisha added, her whips crackling with barely contained energy.
"You’re a demon. You can’t be trusted."
Mephistopheles sighed, as if dealing with stubborn children.
"Oh, you foolish girls," she said, shaking her head. "Do you think I care about your trust? I don’t need it."
She pointed at the symbol on my chest.
"What I need is for him to be strong enough to face his destiny. And you two... you are the key to that strength."
She leaned in, her voice a low purr.
"Your love for him, your devotion... it’s a power in itself. It will fuel him when he’s weak, guide him when he’s lost."
"Mephisto why are you Cringe all of a sudden..." I asked as she was acting kind of weird after my wives appeared
Like it was some sort of storybook where she’s the guide or something.
Mephisto rolled her eyes at my comment, but there was a hint of amusement in her expression.
"Cringe? Don’t be ridiculous," she scoffed. "I’m simply stating the facts."
She crossed her arms, looking down her nose at Liliana and Aisha.
"You two are like... emotional batteries for him. Your love keeps his power stable and growing."
Liliana and Aisha exchanged a confused glance, still not quite understanding what Mephistopheles was getting at.
"So what you’re saying is... we’re just useful to him?" Aisha asked, her voice tinged with hurt.
"No, you idiot," Mephistopheles snapped.
"You’re more than that. You’re his weakness and his strength."She turned to me, her eyes serious.
"They are the reason he’ll fight so hard to survive. And that makes them invaluable."
Liliana muttered under her breath, a strange expression on her face.
"Although I like the sound of it, please don’t talk like it’s some shounen manga."
Aisha giggled, lowering her whips slightly. "Yeah, it does sound a bit cheesy."
Mephistopheles ignored their comments, her focus solely on me.
"Whether you like it or not, this is the truth," she said firmly.
"Your wives are your power source, and you are their protector."
She waved a hand dismissively. "Now, enough talk. We have much to do."
She snapped her fingers, and the room began to transform.
The walls shifted and morphed into training dummies and obstacle courses.
"Your next lesson begins now," she announced with a wicked grin.
"Before that!" Liliana exclaimed, stepping forward and placing herself between me and Mephistopheles.
Her action caused the demonic spirit’s forehead to bulge with barely contained anger.
"Liliana..." I warned, but she ignored me completely.
"What’s your deal with her?" Liliana demanded, her eyes narrowed at Mephistopheles.
"I thought she kidnapped you! Why are you listening to anything she says?"
Aisha hovered nervously beside her, her wings fluttering.
"Yeah, Valerian. This doesn’t make sense."
Mephistopheles let out a frustrated sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose.
"Oh, for the love of... It’s complicated," she snapped. "He needed training, and I’m providing it."
"Actually, we made a deal," I explained, holding up a hand to silence Liliana’s protests.
"In exchange for her help in stopping Austin Astor’s plan, I agreed to become her contractor."
Liliana’s eyes widened in disbelief. "What? You’re going to sell your soul to this... this demon?"
Aisha gasped, her hands flying to her mouth.
"Valerian, no! That’s too dangerous!"
Mephistopheles smirked, enjoying their distress.
"Oh, don’t be so dramatic," she said, waving a dismissive hand.
"It’s not like I’m asking for his firstborn child.
"She looked at me with a calculating gaze.
"He’ll just owe me a favor when the time comes."
"A big favor," I muttered under my breath.
Liliana shook her head vehemently.
"No! We can find another way! You can’t do this! Becoming a contractor of a demonic spirit?"
Liliana exclaimed, her voice rising in panic.
"No! You don’t know how predatory their contracts are!" Aisha nodded vigorously, her eyes wide with fear.
"She could ask for anything! Your life, your soul... anything!"
Mephistopheles rolled her eyes, clearly bored with their dramatics.
"Oh, please," she scoffed. "You think I’m going to ask for something so mundane?"
She leaned in close to me, her voice a low purr.
"When the time comes, I’ll ask for something much more... interesting."
I swallowed hard, knowing that whatever she had planned would be far more complicated than just giving up my soul.
"Anyways, no means no," Liliana insisted, grabbing my arm.
"Let’s get out of this place."
Aisha nodded in agreement, her wings flaring up in preparation for flight.
"You think it’s that simple?" Mephistopheles laughed, the sound echoing ominously around us.
"This is my domain. You can’t escape."
She snapped her fingers, and the walls closed in around us, trapping us in the training room.
"Now, shall we begin your lesson?" she asked cheerfully, ignoring Liliana’s protests and Aisha’s frantic attempts to find an exit.
"Oh, here we go again," I murmured dryly, pulling out my bow. In front of me stood not one, not two, but five dark knights.
They were larger than the previous ones, their armor gleaming with an ominous red light.
"You’ve got to be kidding me," Aisha groaned, raising her sword.
"Five of them? This is insane!" Liliana added, her whips crackling nervously.
Mephistopheles clapped her hands together, a wicked grin spreading across her face.
"Now this is a real challenge," she said.
"Let’s see how you handle this."
The knights charged forward with a deafening roar, their swords raised high.
The battle was about to begin in earnest.
....
...
I nocked an arrow, my mind racing. Five knights... this was going to be a challenge.
I focused my power into the arrowhead, feeling the vital energy surge around me.
"Valerian, we’ll cover you!" Aisha shouted, launching herself into the air.
Liliana nodded, her whips lashing out at the knights’ legs. "Just keep shooting!" she yelled.
The first knight reached me, its sword swinging down with tremendous force.
I dodged at the last second, rolling under its blade and coming up behind it.
I loosed my arrow, which embedded itself in the golem’s backplate.
Lightning crackled around the impact site, causing it to stumble.
"Eat dirt, you son of a junkyard!" I shouted, watching the knight collapse.
But there were four more to go, and they were closing in fast.
Aisha dove from above, her spear flashing as she struck at the nearest knight’s helmet.
"Keep them off him!" she yelled to Aisha.
Liliana’s whips lashed out in a blur, wrapping around the arms of two knights and pulling them off balance. "Gotcha!" she cried, using her momentum to swing them into each other.
I took advantage of the distraction, loosing arrow after arrow at the remaining knights.
Each one found its mark, but these golems were tougher than before.
They staggered but didn’t fall.
I knew this wouldn’t be easy. With a smirk, I summoned dozens of glowing magic circles behind me.
"Let’s see how you like this," I muttered.
With a roar, I loosed a barrage of fiery arrows.
They streaked through the air like comets, each one trailing a plume of smoke and flame.
The knights tried to dodge, but there were too many. The arrows slammed into them, exploding on impact and sending shrapnel flying.
"Whoa!" Aisha exclaimed, shielding her face from the debris.
"That’s some serious firepower!"
Liliana laughed maniacally, her whips cracking with glee as she watched the golems stumble and burn.
"Keep it up! You’re kicking their asses!"
But even with the onslaught of flames, the knights refused to stay down.
Their armor glowed red-hot as they pushed forward, determined to reach me.
"Tch, you son of bitches are tough," I growled, nocking another arrow.
The knights were closing in, their movements slower but still relentless.
Their armor was charred and smoking, but they showed no signs of giving up.
"Let’s see how you handle this.." I murmured as the Cross on my back glowed in a purple light.
