The meal was finished and King Augustus said, "Lord Cardinal, would you like to accompany me for a walk in the garden?"

Leo stood up and bowed as he said, "It would be my honor, Your Majesty."

The Old King said, "Minerva.."

He called out to his daughter-in-law, who replied, "I will attend to Maiden Pearl, Father."

After a few minutes, the three men appeared in the garden located in the center of the palace, this place was without monitoring as the Kings from all generations would come here to spend some alone time in their daily lives. King Augustus would often have his afternoon tea or coffee here.

The Old King said, "The situation is getting worse, the defense minister is getting anxious with every passing day, this person has been rallying the military officers to handle his things, and also pressurizing many of the people from the civil cabinet to do his bidding. They were almost ready to take us down, but this title promotion for you might have made them somewhat wary."

Leo nodded and said, "Your Majesty, may I speak freely?"

Augustus nodded and Leo continued, "Why haven't you settled the defense minister already? His deeds have been well covered but never impossible to find out."

Augustus nodded and he said, "While you are correct, I could have solved this problem but the thing is that Defense Minister Jitem, grew up in the Military, served at the border and earned merit. At a time he was one of the best, a candidate for the Fleet Marshall, however, later on, the fleet marshall seat was taken by my brother, and the second candidate also became Duke Iron Fist, they both won a strategic level front for the country and so they were promoted to a higher level then him.

This grudge has been held by Jitem all these decades, because he thinks that the royal family has been biased even when it came to promotions and manipulates the military and thus his desire to perform a coup. Had it not been for the people to love us, he might have succeeded already."

Leo thought for a bit before he said, "It is not really true, Your Majesty, we can handle this even now, but please tell me, in which capacity do you need me to make a move."

King Augustus asked, "Are you not worried that it might be something harsh?"

Leo shook his head and replied, "Initially, I was, but realizing that the situation is originating from the Military influence of the Defense minister, and the fact that I have been invited here alone to converse, it is clear that my family has no part to play in it, so I am fine with the price as long as it leaves my family safe and sound."

His confident words were not only to assure the man that he would do well for his country, but also a warning for them to leave his family alone.

King Augutus nodded and said, "What I have in mind is to take away the influence of the Defense Minister, however, he is not to be driven away from the public eye of prestige."

Leo took a deep breath and replied, "Why don't you give him a made up position in the Royal standings, like a baron or something and have him go out on tours around the country to talk to the youth and for the final touches, make him the ambassador for the foreign exchange and bilateral trips with the neighbors?"

The old king chuckled and said, "Do you think it is that easy?"

Leo sighed and replied, "Well, if you put it like that, Your Majesty, then please tell me what do you want me to do?"

Augustus replied, "I am aware that you have your own forces, they are good but they have left a few clues here and their. So, I want you to dig up all the dirt that you can against all those who are helping the Defense Minister."

Leo frowned, and Augustus continued, "You have always focused on the people who committed cromes, but now, tax evasion, and financial benefits are something to look into, apart from you, I don't have anyone who would do this for the sake of the nation. It is not thet shift in power that we fear, or there would be no Constitutional monarchy, but what they will do with that power.

I am not sure if you are aware, but Defense Minister Jitem is linked to the Fruit Group. As for what they intend to do is not something I am aware of."

Leo took a deep breath and said, "It seems to me that the West intends to breach the treaty they signed in the past."

This sentence from him caused the King and the Prince to open their eyes wide, they were shocked and the latter asked, "What do you mean?"

Leo sighed as he realized that he has made a slip up and answered honestly, "Your family is the follower of the Goddess, am I right?" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂

The two men nodded and Leo said, "Well, I have been looking into a few things for a past few months and I am aware of the truth behind the Goddess Of Mercy and the Reptilian of the west. The recent change in the Stag Nation, well, I may have aided King Avalon from the shadows."

Augustus shivered from the realization and had it not for his son holding on to his frail body, the old king might have fallen and died from excitement. The Prince asked, "So, how much do you know about the Morning Star Tower?"

Leo replied while scratching the back of his head, "I would say, that I know almost everything about them Your Highness. Just what is their end goal evades my grasp but I am waiting for the right moment to find out that also."

The King nodded and said, "Initially I wanted to ask you to isolate the Defense Minister from his people, but now, I am assured, you can handle this whole thing on your own. I will not intervene but as a person who knows the truth, you must never let those western reptiles invade the borders of the Nation."

Leo and the Prince were shocked, none of them expected the old man to show this level of trust on Leo. The Prince looked at his father, and the old man said, "You have no connection with the Stag nation apart from the fact that your wife originated there, however, apart from that given how crooked the Stag Nation Royalty has been you could have watched them burn but you took a step to stop these reptiles and caused great damage to them. This is why I trust that you will handle this well.

Leo smiled at these words and said, "Your Majesty, you are a rather poetic person. I like that."

The three people fell silent before they all laughed and cheered up. Leo took a deep breath and replied, "Your Majesty, I will get started right away, so please be prepared to step up in the media light when I make my move and keep me out of scrutiny."

The Prince replied, "Lord Cardinal, you are now one of us, don't worry, I will handle this lime light shed for you. My daughter has been asking to visit a couple of talk shows so that she could tell people that she was not arrogant. We can give this task to her."

Leo chuckled and replied, "Fine then, I will leave that to you, Your Highness."

With that said, the trio discussed a few things before they headed back to the Palace, and the situation at hand left Leo rather shocked, because his daughter had seemingly become the best buddies with the Princess. Lily was the younger one, as the Princess was seven years old, and Lily was following the Princess rather watchfully.

After some moments, the Princess asked, "Mother, can we have Lily stay over for the night and play with me?"

Snow was surprised but when she turned to look at Leo, she almost laughed out loud, because she knew that the over protective father in him was worried that the demand of the Princess might cause his Daughter to be dragged into limelight as a royal guest and he didn't want that to happen.

However, Lily was smart on her own and said, "Your Highness, that is not possible. I am in the capital for a week, and I have to attend the school here as an exchange student. If I didn't show up in the morning, it would look bad on the school where I come from, and my teacher back home would be rather displeased with me. I cannot risk my position like this, it would be irresponsible of me."

The Duchess asked, "Lily, what position are you in?"

Lily replied sincerely, "Your Grace, I am a class head in my school, if I act wayward, all my friends will look bad and if Miss Verse decided to replace me, then I will be teased for life eternal. Please forgive me."

The elders all burst into laughter, Lily treated the position of the Class Head with more care than the royal invitation. This was surely the first.
