Alpha Razor King-Chapter 97: Wild Berries.
**Isabella**
My heart raced as I descended the staircase, cradling baby Nathan in my arms. Relief flooded through me when I saw Razor entering the foyer.
"Razor, Razor," I called in a shaky voice."Help, please."
Razor’s gaze snapped to me, concern etched on his face. Without a word, he hurried over to my side, gently taking Nathan from my arms.
"What’s wrong?" Razor asked, his voice calm yet filled with urgency.
"I... I don’t know," I stuttered, my eyes welling up with tears. "I was waiting for you to come back, and I got tired, so I went upstairs to check on Nathan, and I found him like this."
Razor placed his hand on Nathan’s forehead, feeling the warmth radiating from his tiny body. His frown deepened as he realized Nathan was running a temperature.
"We need to get him help," Razor said.He turned to Dean, who stood nearby. "Call John and tell him to get here right now," Razor instructed, his eyes never leaving Nathan.
Dean nodded and quickly dialed John’s number.
"Come on, let’s take him upstairs," Razor said, motioning for me to follow him.
Together, we ascended the stairs, Razor leading the way to Nathan’s room. My heart pounded in my chest as I followed Razor, praying silently for Nathan’s well-being.
I hurriedly followed Razor as he carried Nathan upstairs to his room. I felt a knot in my stomach, worried about Nathan’s health. As we entered the room, Razor laid Nathan gently on the bed, his brows furrowed with concern.
"Isabella, did he show any other symptoms?" Razor asked.
I shook my head, tears welling up in my eyes. "No sir. He was just a bit pale, and his lips... they turned purple," I explained, my voice trembling.
Razor’s expression darkened. "John’s on his way. We’ll figure this out, Isabella."
I nodded, my heart heavy with fear. I watched as Razor sat beside Nathan, gently stroking his forehead. "Please, Nathan, be okay," I whispered.
Minutes felt like hours as we waited for John to arrive. I sat beside Razor, my hand tightly holding his. Razor remained strong for me, his gaze never leaving Nathan.
Finally, the sound of footsteps approaching broke the tense silence. John entered the room, his medical bag in hand. He immediately bowed to the ground in front of Razor.
"Get up, John. I’m so glad you could make it," Razor told him, getting up from the bedside.
"It’s nothing much, boss, besides you’ll always be the alpha of the Bloody Skull pack," John replied, getting to his feet.
"Alright, hurry up and check my son before that bastard, Tom, suspects you’re gone," Razor said, his tone urgent.
John bowed his head slightly at me before focusing his attention on Nathan, who lay on the bed, his small chest rising and falling with each breath.
"Don’t worry, baby, he’s the best werewolf doctor in the country," Razor whispered to me, squeezing my hand softly.
I nodded, watching as John brought out his equipment and started checking Nathan. He was thorough, his movements confident yet gentle. I could see the concern in his eyes, but also the determination to help Nathan.
After what felt like an eternity, John finally straightened up. "He has a fever, but it’s not too high. I’ve given him some medication to bring it down. I’ll need to run some tests to determine the cause," he explained.
Razor nodded, his jaw clenched with worry. "Do whatever you need to do, John. Just make sure he’s okay," he said.
John nodded. "I’ll do my best, boss," he replied, before turning back to Nathan.
After some minutes, John pulled off his gloves and looked at us with a frown. "I’ve discovered the problem, boss," he said gravely.
"What is it?" Razor asked, clearly impatient.
"He was fed with wide berries," John replied.
"What?" My brows knitted together in confusion. "I don’t understand."
"Wide berries are not good for pups, Luna," John explained. "They’re a little too hard for the pups to digest and can seriously cause some damage to their lungs."
"But I didn’t give Nathan any berries," I said, looking at Razor, confused.
"There must have been some sort of mistake somewhere," Razor muttered, his expression darkening.
I racked my brain, trying to remember if anyone had given Nathan anything unusual to eat. But nothing came to mind.
"Could someone else have fed him the berries?" John asked, his voice gentle.
I shook my head. "No, I don’t think so. Nathan hasn’t been out of my sight since today," I replied, feeling a pang of guilt. If Nathan had gotten sick because of something I did or didn’t do, I would never forgive myself.
Razor placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "It’s not your fault, Isabella. We’ll figure this out."
John nodded, his expression thoughtful. "He’ll be alright. But If his condition worsens, we may need to consider other options," he said, his tone serious.
I felt a wave of fear wash over me. I couldn’t bear the thought of losing Nathan. He was everything to me, my reason for living.
"Don’t worry Luna, he’s going to be fine," John said, nodding confidently. "Just give him these medications," John continued, handing me a small bag filled with pills.
"Alright," I replied, taking the bag from John. "Thank you so much, John."
"You’re welcome, Luna," John replied warmly. He gathered his equipment and started towards the door. "If his symptoms persist, just call me, and I’ll be here, boss."
Razor and I nodded, watching John leave the room.
"Thank the moon goddess," I exclaimed, my voice filled with relief, as I played with my baby’s tiny hands.
Razor sat next to me on the bed, a reassuring smile on his face. "See, I told you he’ll be fine," he said, pinching my nose affectionately.
I smiled back at him, feeling grateful for his presence.
As I headed to the bathroom to freshen up, Razor stood up. "I’ll be back shortly," he said.
I nodded. "Alright then, we’ll be waiting for you."
I climbed onto the bed and lay next to Nathan, cradling his little body gently. After a few minutes, Razor came out of the bathroom in new clothes, though he was shirtless. I found myself staring at his abs.
He smiled knowingly before coming to lay on the bed. "He’s still awake?" he asked, looking at Nathan.
"He’s so bubbly," I said, chuckling as I bounced Nathan up and down the bed. "He’s back to his usual self."
"I’m glad," Razor said, pecking Nathan’s forehead. After playing with Nathan for a few minutes, his eyes began to droop. Razor and I took him to my room and laid him in his baby cot.
"He’s fast asleep now," Razor nodded. "I guess I’ll go back now."
"No, stay," I said, holding his arm back. "I want you to stay, Razor."
"Alright," he smiled before lifting me up onto the bed. He settled next to me and drew me to his chest.
"I sighed, snuggling close to his chest.
’’Are you alright, baby?’’ he asked, stroking my back.
’’I... I was just so scared, Razor,’’ I cried softly. ’’I don’t know what I’ll do if something happens to him. I don’t know..._’
’’But he’s alright now,’’ he reassured me.
_’How, just how did he eat the berry?’’ I wondered aloud.
’’I don’t know, but... from now on, we need to be careful, okay?’’
’’Yes, yes,’’ I nodded.
"Alright, time to sleep," he said, leaning forward and kissing my lips gently before pulling back. "Good night, my angel."
"Good night, my love," I whispered back, holding him close to me. It was definitely nice to be in his arms.
The next morning, Nathan was better and back to normal, which gladdened my heart, although I was sad that Razor was going out again on one of his adventures. He needed to find out about the recent mysterious deaths.
After having breakfast, I took Nathan to the gardens and played with him there until Felicia came out to join us.
"I can see he’s better now," Felicia smiled, glancing at Nathan.
"Yes, Felicia, he’s alright now," I said, sitting down on the bench with Nathan.
"I’m so happy, Luna," she said, sitting next to us and taking Nathan from me.
I sighed, resting my back on the bench. "I’m worried, Felicia. The doctor said he ate wild berries. But how?"
"How come?" Felicia raised her brow in confusion.
"I don’t know, Felicia. I’m as confused as you are."
I raked a hand through my hair, trying to clear my head and remember if I had done such a thing.
"I don’t know what to say, Luna," Felicia said, looking horrified but also somewhat anxious.
"Did you see anyone go to my room, Felicia?" I asked, and she went rigid.
"I don’t know, Luna. I can’t," she replied.
"Felicia, if you know something, please tell me," I begged, imploring her with my eyes.
"I... I saw Kelsey coming downstairs yesterday when you were at the garden waiting for the boss," she confessed, a little hesitantly.
"Really?"
"Yes," she nodded. "And when I asked her, she said she wanted to check if Razor was back."
"That’s bullshit," I stood up angrily. "She was well aware he wasn’t back yet. I have to see her right now!"
