Chapter 149: 149-I Should Move On

Iris:

"Come on, let’s have a drink," Lara urged.

She had dragged us all the way back to the mansion to celebrate the news that Luca and I were getting married.

I felt so uncomfortable, but there was not much I could do. That had been planned, and we were getting married because of my mother’s blackmail.

Luca looked extremely uncomfortable. I hated that he was getting dragged into this because of my issues, but I guessed this was the price he was paying for playing games with me before and shaking hands with my mother.

There was another person who seemed bothered.

Kash!

He had not said much.

"So what made you decide that you want to be the one to propose to him? I mean, that barely ever happens, you know?" Lara remarked, making me uncomfortable.

"That is a personal topic. I mean, how about we have this drink in the morning? Neither of us is in the mood, to be honest," Luca replied.

Thankfully, he was here with me, because I was not able to defend myself anymore. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

I had too many thoughts in my head. The fact that I was going to get married to someone my mother was forcing me to marry was the biggest one.

"Oh, all right, it is okay. I was just too excited. And because she is Kash’s children’s mother, I wanted to celebrate her happiness. I mean, the way she ran after you, yelling to not go, that was romantic," Lara continued.

From her words, I could tell that they arrived and saw me run after him, stopping him.

They probably thought that some issue happened between me and Luca that pushed him to want to leave, so I had to run after him and stop him like a woman in love would do.

"Yeah, well, I had proposed to her before, and she was waiting to tell me her answer on a perfect day, and I guess tonight was the perfect one," he explained.

Luca instantly stepped in to let her know that he was the one who proposed.

I did not think it mattered anymore. I did not care what they thought of me. The biggest damage had been done.

"Anyway, we will go to our rooms now," Luca suggested and gently tapped my shoulder to let me know that we did not have to stay and listen to her chatter. I quickly stood after him.

Once we walked away, I heard Lara speak with Kash, mostly mentioning how she wanted to get married before us.

She was such a double-faced liar. Now she had a problem with us marrying, and she wanted to race before us.

As I arrived at the room, I found my mother waiting for us.

"I thought you would not come," my mother mumbled, rolling her eyes.

"How could we not? Did you leave us any choice?" Luca hissed at her, making my mother roll her eyes again.

"Luca, you are acting like you would not want to get married. Stop it. My daughter is perfect. If anything, you should be happy that because of my blackmail, you got to be with someone you could never be with under normal conditions," my mother remarked.

She was so bitter. She started to belittle Luca, and I knew this would happen. She would eventually take her anger out on him for leaving earlier.

"You got what you wanted. Now, did you call her? Did you speak with Scarlett? Did you tell her you will not leak her videos?" I spoke softly, almost pleading with her.

"Yes, do not worry, I did. Now go back. Sleep tight. I do not want to hear from both of you for another minute. You tired me tonight," my mother grunted, giving me a hand gesture and stepping away.

Once she was gone, I hesitantly faced Luca.

"You know what? If you want, you can sleep with the children. I will handle it in the morning," he mentioned, because I guessed he realized that it would not be easy for me to sleep in the same room as him tonight after he had seen our videos together.

"Thank you," I uttered without looking at him. Then I quickly hurried out.

I lay in the bed, in the same bed with Amy, and soon I drifted off to sleep.

When I woke up in the morning, it was the same routine. The kids wanted to speak. I spoke with them for a few minutes.

Then we did the regular things where I fed them breakfast. After that, I went to speak with Kash.

I needed to ask him what he did about the blue river water. I needed some good news in my life.

I found him standing in the front garden with Walkin, discussing something.

When I arrived, Walkin glanced at him, letting him know that I was approaching. Kash stopped talking and turned around, shoving his hands in his pants’ pockets.

"I will go and take care of the matters," Walkin stated, giving me a greeting with a head nod before he stepped away, leaving the two of us to talk.

"Kash, I need to speak with you," I said in a gentle voice.

But from the way he was staring at me, it did not seem like he was in a pleasant mood.

"If it is about you getting married to Luca, I do not give a fuck," he remarked.

As soon as he said that, I felt my heart skip a beat. Before I could say anything else or try to speak, he continued.

"I do think it is the right thing to do. You need to move on too, because I have moved on. And I am realizing Lara is the perfect choice for me," he added, leaving no room for me to argue.

In fact, I could not even ask him about the water anymore, with how brutally he shoved the truth in my face after denying it for so long.
