Chapter 224: 224-Bleeding For Me

Kash:

For a moment, Iris did not push me away. She let me taste her lips.

I needed it before going on this mission. I needed a taste of her, the memory of her, her scent with me.

I wished we could go together, and I knew she would want that too, but it would be too dangerous for her. She also did not need to know why I was heading south.

Then she remembered everything.

She began to resist, placing her hands on my chest and scratching it. She did not push me away, but showed me that loving me came with pain.

I broke the kiss slowly, our lips still touching for a few seconds.

"I will miss you," I whispered, brushing a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"No, you won’t," she replied, looking hurt. "None of it matters to you. I know that. I don’t matter to you. Your children don’t matter to you."

Each word hurt, but she was not wrong. Even when they mattered to me, I had never been able to tell them that they did. That was why she no longer trusted me, and I could not blame her for it.

"Now go and be happy with your second mate," Iris continued, turning away from me.

I felt guilty for her pain.

"Please don’t be angry with me while I’m leaving," I whispered, running my fingertips along her cheeks down to her chin, then gently pinching it as I lowered my face and kissed her chin.

The fact that she loved me so much, that even after everything she would not push me away, made me want to end all of this.

It felt like it was within my reach, but that monster, and facing her again, made me doubt it would be easy this time.

"Why are you here? You’re going on a honeymoon with your wife, Kash, and you’re pretending as if you will miss me. I don’t understand what kind of games you’re playing, and I don’t understand what comes next. East, huh?" she asked, one lonely tear rolling down her cheek.

"After tonight, when we meet again, Iris, you will have all your questions answered," I replied.

I finished and finally stepped back from her.

My fingers still longed for her touch. I wanted to feel her. I wanted to love her, openly and without holding back.

"Anyway, you should meet your children before you leave in the morning."

she finally pulled away, clasping her hands behind her back and looking aside. She looked adorable.

"Of course I will. You think I will leave without informing them?" I replied in a low, soft tone.

"I don’t know. It feels like you forgot about us. I mean, them," she corrected herself and bit her tongue.

A smile appeared on my lips as I remembered how I could be just as mischievous as her.

"Well, you are the one who always runs away," I remarked.

As soon as I said that, she snapped her head toward me. She raised a finger to warn me not to repeat it, but I caught her hand.

This time, I made her open her palm.

She watched me closely, having no idea what I was about to do.

We stood so close in the darkness that I wanted to do many things, to make mistakes that would never truly be mistakes with her.

While she was still staring at me, I pulled out a dagger and cut her palm.

She winced in shock.

"Kash, what the fuck?" she grunted, trying to pull her hand away.

I took a small bottle from my pocket and collected her blood while she watched in confusion.

"What is going on? What are you doing?" she demanded, her tone showing she already sensed something was wrong.

"It is to remind you that if you try to run away, I will fill this bottle with your blood," I said, the words forcing their way out.

I could already see the hurt on her face.

She pulled away and grunted.

"Get the fuck out of here. Every time I think you couldn’t get worse, you prove me wrong," she snapped, then covered her mouth with her other hand to keep the children from waking up.

"Let me apply some ointment," I offered.

She shook her head.

"After you give me pain? No. Not every time you get away with your weird fucking shit," she muttered.

She sounded so angry that I knew staying would only harm her further.

So I stepped away.

I got the blood I needed.

I turned to leave and had only reached the door and opened it when I heard her voice behind me.

"And this time, I’m truly over you."

I closed my eyes and let her words sink in.

I was not lucky enough to turn back and ask her to take them back, because then I would have had to explain myself. I had no explanation for anything at that moment.

So it was better to let her hate me for now.

I knew she wanted me to explain myself, but instead, I walked out on her in silence, like a fucking loser.

I heard her slam the door shut, probably because I had not explained myself.

Then I lay down on the couch outside. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Lara was the one who woke me up in the morning.

We got ready, and then it was time to leave.

When no one was around, I walked over to my children to say goodbye to them.

After that, I leaned in and kissed Iris on the cheek before she stepped back and glared at me.

Thankfully, no one saw it because the others were now starting to come out.

After the goodbyes, we all sat together.

I noticed the smug grin on Lara’s face as she tried to intimidate Iris, as if to show that she had won.

Little did she know, this would be the last time she ever looked at Iris with that mocking grin on her lips.

Because once we returned, she would not be coming back home with me as my wife.
