Alpha's replacement bride is destined mate-Chapter 236 Marriage in a Past Life 3
Eric sat quietly in one of the worn chairs in the tailor’s shop, the smell of various fabrics filling the cramped space. He turned his body toward the window, and was instantly refreshed by the faint scent of bayberry blossoms that wafted through it.
Eric and Evelyn are about to become engaged. Ever since Eric and Evelyn had spent a wonderful night together in the cabin, Evelyn had come to Alpha the next day, holding Eric’s hand, and telling her father excitedly that Eric was her mate.
Eric could not forget the look of shock on Evelyn’s father’s face when he heard the news, and Alpha could not believe that this man, worthless as a rogue, was his daughter’s mate.
Eric could see that Alpha was reluctant to marry Evelyn to him. Evelyn was, after all, the only daughter of the alpha, and her future husband would inherit the pack. Evelyn should have married an alpha or beta, not a rogue.
When Evelyn realized what her father had in mind, she burst into tears and sobbed in his presence, and Evelyn said that she would marry no one but Eric. Finally, Alpha compromises. He allowed Evelyn and Eric to become engaged, not married.
He allows Evelyn and Eric to be engaged, not married, which Eric knows is a test from Alpha. But the longer he remains here, the more he will be exposed.
He had to quicken his plans. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
" Eric, do you think this dress looks good? " Evelyn’s sweet voice interrupted Eric’s thoughts. He turned his head to see Evelyn standing before him in a white strapless gown. The outfits accentuated her perfect curves. She was simply more beautiful than Luna.
" So beautiful." Eric complimented me.
" Really?" Evelyn looked at herself in the mirror, " But I think the waist could be a little thinner."
"You’d be out of breath." Eric reminded her. " Eric reminded her," Don’t forget that the engagement party is going to last all night, and I don’t want my fiancee complaining about the tightness of the dress all night. And all I can do for her is rip the dress off."
"Eric," Evelyn blushed when she heard that, and the old tailor standing next to her lowered his head in embarrassment.
" Just kidding." Eric smiled slightly.
"I need to tighten the waist part a bit. " Evelyn said to the old tailor.
"Yes, my lady. " The old tailor said, taking the soft ruler in his hand to re-measure Evelyn’s waist.
Eric looked at Evelyn in the glass. She looked like a bride in this white dress. He did not even have a decent engagement ring for her, but that was all right. When they were married, he would give Evelyn the most expensive wedding-ring ever made of rubies, and it would look splendid on her.
But if Evelyn knew who he really was, would she still want to marry him?
At that moment, Evelyn in the mirror gave Eric a happy smile, and Eric responded with a smile. But the depth of that smile hid a secret that was not yet known.
..............
Three days later, Eric and Evelyn held their engagement party at the pack. Every one from the pack came to their betrothal feast, and all sat in the broad banqueting hall, where every long table was piled high with dainty viands and mead. Singers with harps played, and men and women danced merrily in the centre of the hall.
Evelyn looked like a noble white butterfly in her strapless white dress. She took Eric’s arm and danced with him. They danced over and over again.
To-night she belonged to him alone.
After one dance, Evelyn collapsed into Eric’s arms, her head on his breast, her chest heaving up and down.
" I’m tired, Eric." Evelyn panted.
Eric held Evelyn’s waist as he gently told her, " Let me take you to your room to rest okay?"
"No, I want to keep dancing."
"We’ll come back later and continue dancing. " Eric coaxed Evelyn gently as he picked her up in a cross body hug.
Someone saw them leave the ballroom and yelled, "Look, someone can’t wait to get to the cave."
Others are up in arms, even offering to go to the bridal chamber. But Eric refused, and, instead of ignoring them, carried Evelyn to her room.
Eric laid Evelyn down on the bed, and was about to turn away when she suddenly seized his hand.
" Stay... Eric." she half squinted, her words slurred.
" I’ll be right back." Eric whispered in Evelyn’s ear, and he kissed her burning cheek, and then let go her hand.
Eric closed the door to his room gently, and then he took off the jacket he was wearing and replaced it with his night clothes. He slipped quietly to the border of the pack when no one was looking.
He released a signal firework. In a twinkling, the werewolves who had been ambushing the neighborhood immediately poured into the pack like a tidal wave.
The members of the Galaxy pack, who were still partying, did not realize that a massacre was imminent. Even if they had realized it, it would not have helped, for Eric had already put poison in the wine. The poison is colorless and tasteless, but it can incapacitate a werewolf.
As the moon went down, the noise quickly changed to screams and wails of pain. Eric was in the shadows, and had no personal part in the carnage. Evelyn would have hated him all the more if she had known that he had blood on his hands.
Midnight came, and the whole pack fell into a deathly silence. Eric knew that the massacre was over, and he stepped slowly out of the shadows.
No sooner had he set foot in the banqueting-room than a strong smell of blood came to his nose. Those who should have continued the revelry were now sinking into pools of blood, and they were almost all men whom Eric recognized. The wide-open eyes were filled with fear and doubt, and they could not imagine to their dying day who was behind this massacre.
"There you are, brother. " Eric’s brother-Finn-said perfunctorily as he took his seat at the main table, chewing on a roasted leg of lamb, "I apologize for ruining your engagement party."
Eric said nothing as his eyes settled on Finn’s left foot. He appeared to be treading on something round on his left foot, and when Eric got a good look at the object he started.
" You killed Alpha?"
"Alpha?" Finn glanced down at the head at his feet, then he taunted, " You mean your father-in-law? That’s right, I killed him."
" Didn’t I tell you not to kill him?" Eric snarled at his brother.
"I don’t remember you telling me anything like that. " Finn tossed the roasted leg of lamb aside as he picked up the head from the floor and placed it on the table, "I promised father that I would give him this head. So, do you really think I would care what you said?"
"You want to take credit from father with Alpha’s head? " Eric snarled, "Don’t forget, if I hadn’t——"
"We wouldn’t have been able to pull off this plan if you hadn’t posed as an injured rogue to blend into the Galaxy pack. " Finn interrupted Eric, "Save those words for father. Perhaps he will reward you with a kiss when he is pleased. But he will never let you inherit the pack."
Finn stared at Eric with those reddened eyes, "Don’t think I don’t know that you just hid. I will tell father that you are a coward. Because while I was wrestling, my brother was in the room fucking Alpha’s daughter."
" Shut up!" Eric is furious and cannot wait to kill his brother.
" If you want me to shut up, bring your fiancee here for me to fuck. I might put in a good word for you in front of father." Finn said walking down the steps, he put one hand on Eric’s shoulder, " Go ahead and bring your fiancee here.I want to taste her."
Eric clenched his fists as he tried to contain the anger that was rising within him. He said in a fake calm voice, "I’ll go bring her to you now."
"You’re such a good brother to me. " Finn gave a horny and cruel look, "Don’t worry, I won’t play with your fiancee."
That’s when Eric takes advantage of Finn’s unguarded situation and reveals his wolf claws to stab Finn directly in the heart.
Finn’s eyes widened, and the moment Eric crushed his heart, Finn’s face instantly became distorted.
Eric glanced at Finn who fell in a pool of blood as he said coldly, "Now I’m the heir to the pack."
As Eric looked at the room filled with dead bodies, he thought of Evelyn, who still lay in the room. When she awoke, he would kneel before her and explain it all. He would tell Evelyn that his brother had caused all this, and that he had killed him to avenge her people.
Perhaps Evelyn would not believe him; perhaps she might even wish to kill him. But whatever the result, he would not let Evelyn leave him.
He wanted power, and he wanted her.
