Chapter 602: 50 Scenes: King of the Underground (Part 1) (First Update, Seeking Support)

Kulan stepped back a pace and skillfully deflected the Silver Elf Princess’s long spear with his sword, commanding in a deep voice: Stop! But right at that moment, everyone’s movements suddenly halted— the mine suddenly quaked violently!

Brand, Medisha, and Qian’s expressions immediately changed as they instinctively looked up— however, with a loud ’crack,’ everyone saw a fissure over ten meters long split open at the top of the mine shaft. Dirt and debris instantly showered down from the fissure, striking everyone’s faces.

This unexpected event interrupted the battle. Brand immediately ducked his head and squinted his eyes, turning back to loudly urge Qian to retreat at once. He sensed danger, realizing that the mine was even more fragile than he had anticipated.

Brand naturally attributed this to the battle of several Gold Level powers below, but he vaguely felt something was off. Their fight with Kulan had just started, theoretically it shouldn’t have caused such a commotion.

But there was no time to ponder, while retreating, he suddenly heard Qian on the other side shout: "Lord, be careful—"

However, before she could finish her sentence, the Shafelund mine welcomed a second tremor. Massive rocks finally broke free from the mountain’s hold under the vibration and fell with a thunderous roar, plunging the mine shaft into chaotic, dim darkness.

Brand was about to evade, but a cascade of dirt and boulders came rushing at him from one side.

"Damn it!"

This was his last thought before everything went black.

Even the terrifying underground commotion extended to the surface. At that moment, the young noble clerk supervising the workers in the mining area lost his balance and tumbled down.

Bloodied and bruised, Ogins managed to crawl up from the rubble. He felt the ground trembling beneath his feet, emitting constant rumbling sounds. Unable to help it, his face turned pale as he frantically looked around— the whole mine descended into chaos. Many miners were thrown to the ground, but most were fleeing outside.

What’s going on? Is it an earthquake? Has Lord Martha angered?

He couldn’t help but tremble at the thought.

...

Flada in the Frost Descent Month already had a hint of desolation. Princess Griffine’s pale silver eyes reflected a faint light as she gazed from the direction of the terrace, a distant view being the treetop forest in the thick white mist, seeming like dragged with heavy ink— 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Some trees had almost lost all their leaves.

But inside, the fireplace crackled and burned, sparks popped off the vividly glowing charcoals and occasionally drifted through the iron grill, falling onto the red tiles outside the hearth.

The room became warm.

The Princess in just her nightgown draped with a red-white fur shawl, her messy silver hair hung loosely over her shoulders, barefoot— she lowered her head, somewhat absent-mindedly placed her pale little feet on the soft carpet— watching her fair skin sink into the fluffy surface followed by a slight smile.

Naturally, Ou Fawei couldn’t see what was happening under the desk. Otherwise, he would have sternly chided this Princess— his half-student, to always mind her appearance and manners.

But the old minister’s gaze remained more on the documents atop the desk, the report written on parchment delivered to this rosewood table had arrived three days post-knight tournament, and personally handed over by Nemesia.

The Female Knight was now beside Ou Fawei, standing a step behind. She wore a black knight uniform, exposing porcelain-white hands and neck— she stood straight, eyes forward without looking askance.

The room was momentarily silent.

After a while, Princess Griffine finally recovered from her post-sleep low blood pressure; she rubbed her forehead, exhaustedly lifting her silver eyes— seemingly lazy— reflecting her two loyal subjects:

"Sorry, Sir Ou Fawei, Nemesia, I’m a bit late getting up."

"Ensure you rest adequately, balance labor with leisure." It wasn’t Ou Fawei who replied but the Female Knight who spoke first.

Ou Fawei glanced back at her, the Female Knight expressionless. But the minister wasn’t surprised— she was always like this, due to detailed concern for the Princess— not merely a subject’s care for their ruler.
