Amber Sword-Chapter 616 - 57 Act King of the Underground (8)(Part 2)
In fact, there were almost no spoils of war in the previous battle, and the experience gained was just some leadership. In fact, now Brand found that killing those monsters below Black Iron Level—specifically below Level 15—brought no gains.
This was exactly the same as his experience in the game.
However, he found a ring in the wreckage, an Ogre Ring. In the Amber Sword, equipment with the prefix ’Ogre’ could increase the wearer’s strength. In fact, this was a series of equipment with levels ranging from the lowest Level 20 to the highest Level 70—lower ones were named ’Ghoul’, and higher ones mostly used the ’Dragon’ prefix.
This Ogre Ring was the lowest level among them at Level 20, but it had already far exceeded Brand’s expectations. Monsters at Level 15 in the game had less than one in a thousand chance of dropping Level 20 magic items.
Of course, the highest level in their drop list was a Level 25 armor, with only a few ten-thousandths of a chance, or as players would say, it was virtually non-existent.
But given Brand’s consistently poor luck, when he got this ring, he couldn’t help but glance at Qian a few more times, wondering if she might be one of the legendary bearers of the Red Hand Aura?
Brand examined the attributes of the ring. This Ogre Ring increased the wearer’s output strength by 5%. Brand’s strength was 73.4 energy levels, and due to the implanted Ghost Knight Crystal and Power Burst, his output strength was roughly near one hundred. This item could increase his output strength by about five energy levels, which was better than nothing.
But he already had the Wind Queen’s Ring, Flame Ring, Secondary Snake-shaped Ring, and Warrior Ring occupying all four ring slots. Reflecting on it, Brand was too lazy to change them, so he simply threw the ring to the red-haired girl behind him.
Qian took the ring, slightly stunned. "...I...I don’t have strength anymore." She murmured softly, somewhat confused.
"That’s only temporary," Brand replied, "You’ll recover soon."
"Really?" The amber eyes immediately lit up.
Brand turned to look at the girl, falling silent for a moment, but finally nodded, "When have I ever lied to anyone? Of course, it’s true."
A look of sheer happiness appeared on Qian’s face.
But the red-haired girl, with her female intuition, sensed a trace of hesitation in Brand. She thought for a while, then blinked and said, "Does it have something to do with Divine Blood, my Lord?"
Brand nodded.
"It’s actually nothing," Qian said, not appearing worried. She smiled faintly, "Compared to turning into a monster, I’m more worried about losing my strength, because at least that way, I can still fight for my Lord."
"Shh—" Brand placed a finger to his lips, signaling behind him.
The miner was still trailing them from far back, unaware of their conversation.
Qian nodded, sliding the ring onto her forefinger. She handled it carefully as if it were a precious treasure.
"You actually don’t need to be so careful. This thing isn’t worth much, it’s just a Micro Magic Item." Brand couldn’t help but remind her.
But Qian smiled and replied, "Yes, but as a gift, it means something entirely different."
Brand was taken aback.
The girl had already changed the subject. She looked around at the rock walls, lowering her voice, "My Lord, do you think the earthquake and these monsters are related?"
Brand nodded.
"Did the earthquake make these monsters appear from underground?" Qian asked.
"It’s probably the other way around."
"The other way around?" The mercenary girl was slightly stunned. "How could such weak monsters cause an earthquake?"
"Weak?" Brand shook his head. That was only temporary. If this mission really involved a Silver Heritage, then what they would encounter next was anyone’s guess.
With this thought in mind, they gradually ventured deeper into the fourth layer of the mining area.
Soon, Brand found Mahan’s body at a corner. Close to his left hand, there were two mutilated Rock Leopards. The sword wounds on them indicated that Mahan had fought these beasts before his death, but in the end, he couldn’t escape death.
Brand examined Mahan’s wounds; the fatal one was on the neck—by his assessment, Mahan should have at least been at Black Iron Level, but the attacker’s wound was very clean, clearly a one-hit kill.
