Amber Sword-Chapter 618 - 58th Act: King of the Underground (9) (Adjustment Adjustment)
The underground world is shrouded in endless darkness, the long tunnels silent and still, with only the occasional drip-drop sound of underground water seeping through the rock layers above after an earthquake.
This sound echoes from the distant, impenetrable depths, heard only intermittently over a long stretch of time.
After driving away a large number of uninvited guests from the depths, Medisha had to stop and rest. Though she was a ghost, it didn’t mean she was tireless—the activity level of the Soul Fire somewhat constrained the action capabilities of the undead creatures.
However, she did not need light; a faint glow hidden within her pupils allowed her to see far in conditions without light.
The Silver Elf Princess didn’t sit down, but stood with one hand resting on her spear against the rock wall, surrounded by fragments of Rock Leopards’ shattered bodies scattered far and wide.
Unlike Brand, she was attacked almost as soon as she entered this layer, and fought her way through a bloody path to arrive here. After a moment of silence, the Silver Elf Princess asked into the darkness:
"Is there an elevator here?"
Medisha was not alone in the darkness; the only sound of breathing came from the other side of the mining corridor.
"Yes."
Came the reply.
But Medisha did not relax; as soon as she spoke, her hand tightened around her spear, vigilantly looking back the way she had come. But as soon as she turned, a look of joy appeared on her face, and she exclaimed:
"Lord."
The newcomers were Brand and Qian.
They raised the Lighting Crystal in their hands to illuminate her, not too surprised to see Medisha, as they had been tracking the marks left by the Silver Elf Princess all along.
When Brand initially speculated that the ’formidable entity’ was likely Medisha, he was not overly surprised, knowing the underground held only a few people—either the Silver Elf Princess, Kulan, or Yuta, none of whom possessed such strength.
However, they were momentarily stunned when they saw another person within the illuminated area.
"Medisha," Brand asked, "Who is this?"
He saw the silent, seated Kulan and couldn’t immediately process it. The previously intimidating old man was now in a sorry state, his forehead, face, and blue-grey uniform stained with blood, his grey hair in disarray.
"Mr. Kulan is injured," Medisha replied, the clever Elf Princess deliberately being concise, with much left unsaid but understood by Brand.
The old man snorted, "A prisoner is a prisoner, no need to hide it. But this young girl sees some use in my old bones and made a temporary non-aggression pact with me." He glared at Brand, "But she respects you greatly, boy, says the final decision lies with ’Lord’ you. Go ahead, decide—kill or mutilate?"
Despite his words, anger welled up in him against the cunning elf girl. When the mine collapsed, everyone’s first instinct was self-preservation, driven by a survival instinct, even among those of Gold Level power.
But Kulan hadn’t expected that not everyone present was a ’living being.’
During the landslide, Medisha’s first action wasn’t retreating to safety but attacking him amidst the falling rocks. Such a reckless tactic even startled the composed Kulan.
Gold Level battles are decided in an instant, and although Kulan’s Absolute Strength far exceeded Medisha’s, he had exhausted his vigor chasing Brand and was unprepared for the earthquake’s chaos, resulting in his severe injury by Medisha’s attack.
Had the elf girl not dragged him out from the rubble, he, a proud wielder of Golden Power, might have faced a humiliating death in a mining disaster. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Despite his frustration, he couldn’t help but admire Medisha’s courage, the choice he himself might not have dared to make. On the battlefield, being defeated by the enemy leaves no excuses for a seasoned soldier like Kulan.
If he knew Medisha was just a ghost, he would probably regret his negligence even more.
