Amber Sword-Chapter 813 - 140: Enemy in the Mist
Finally, in a moment, he once again caught the presence of the male wolf.
It had run to the center of the battlefield.
Brand frowned.
"Furlo, Tiya, Wind Wall!" The young lord held the Earth Sword in one hand and turned to shout. He knew that the Limping ones on the field would increase in number; even though they posed no threat to him personally, they were deadly dangerous to the young people under his command.
He brought them to experience the battlefield, not to send them to their deaths.
The older of the Wild Elf sisters heard Brand's call and immediately pulled her sister back a step, moving to the center of the formation; Attached to the Myriad Forest, the Rubis Mercenaries already possessed the power of the Silver Peak, and for an Elemental Mage of the Silver Peak, casting a Second Circle Wind Wall Spell was extremely simple.
The two sisters chanted together, and in an instant, a circulating wind arose at their fingertips. "Wind, four wings open!" Furlo raised her hand and shouted softly, the airflow around her fingers seemed to expand a thousandfold in an instant.
It swept across everyone like a tornado conjured out of thin air, then stabilized around them, forming a wind wall with a howling spin more than a hundred meters in radius.
The Second Circle Wind Wall Spell is a tool to counter physical arrows, which usually seems to have little use, but here it is indeed a weapon against the Fog Howl.
As the wind rose, the surrounding fog immediately dissipated.
Everyone saw the air ripple like water before more than ten silver-gray magic wolves appeared simultaneously within the storm circle. The monster wolves were slightly stunned, clearly having yet to figure out what was happening.
But Brand had no obligation to explain to these uninvited guests. As he pointed his finger, dozens of beams of light immediately reduced them to ashes.
"Good move," Queniel lowered his longbow, his eyebrows raised in admiration. He had lived for more than two hundred years and had heard of the reputation of Fog Howl, but coming up with such a clever idea as Brand did in an instant was beyond him.
As the wind rose and the fog dissipated, the Limping ones lost their most prized weapon; once exposed, they were merely monsters stronger than the average Black Wolf, and the Centaur Elder Guards could easily drive them outside the wind circle.
But Brand knew very well that defense was only a temporary strategy. To break through this fog, he had to solve the problem once and for all.
"Mr. Kulan, I am temporarily handing over command to you," he ordered, "Caglis, you're the deputy."
"Deputy?" Caglis was startled. Once he took over the role of deputy, he would face an endless sea of wolves and mysterious attacks. Could he do his best? He couldn't guarantee it.
But if he couldn't face just a few wolves, wouldn't his previous ambitions be a joke? The young man pressed his lips tight and nodded firmly, "No problem."
Brand gave him a thumbs up, but on the side, Kulan asked him, "What are you going to do?" The Old Swordsman seemed much calmer.
"Of course, go and take down the Head Wolf," Brand replied, "Qian, come to my back."
The red-haired girl was using a short bow to shoot the Black Wolves on the outskirts. Upon hearing Brand, she turned her head, brushed back the stray hairs with her left hand, and immediately tossed the short bow to a young nearby.
She took down the Thunder Gun from her back and silently walked to Brand's side.
"Follow me in a moment, not scared?" Brand asked.
"It's not my first time." Qian looked at him with her amber eyes and replied.
"Mr. Queniel, are you ready?"
"No problem." The Tree Elf Leader answered casually.
Brand nodded. He originally wanted to bring along Lopar, but Lopar was a Strength-type warrior, not suitable for the upcoming fight.
Taking a deep breath, he raised the Earth Sword in front, but just then, Brand felt a hand grab his.
He turned back to see Antitina's furrowed brow, the noble girl biting her lips as she looked at him, "Lord, you forgot what you promised me! Now that you are a leader with responsibility, why do you want to risk yourself alone?"
Brand hesitated for a moment but then separated Antitina's hand, "This is a battle, not an act of personal heroism. Rest assured, I'm confident."
Antitina opened her mouth, but she bit her lip and forcibly swallowed the rest of her words.
"I understand," she answered, bowing her head and biting her lip.
Brand did not know what this noble daughter understood, but he was not lying. If they stayed here too long and let the wolf tide take the time to surround them, then all of them would have no burial place.
However, the male wolf was so cunning; they would certainly not let them succeed easily.
If it were others, in such a situation, they might only fight desperately. But Brand knew if he still had a chance to strike.
Because that was him—
Because all the memories of another soul possessed by this body.
"But how do you plan to get through?" Kulan stood aside, asking, "Outside the wind circle, the Black Wolves are like a tide. Even breaking through is difficult enough, so how to approach the male wolf?"
"Should we let the Centaurs clear a path?" Queniel asked.
"No need."
Brand shook his head, holding the sword in his right hand, his left hand forming a palm-sword shape as he thrust forward, shouting, "Everyone, follow my command, split to the left and right!"
The entire battlefield fell into a slight silence.
Centaur Elder Wad turned his head to look at Brand in the crowd, slightly stunned, but also understanding that military orders could not be disobeyed.
With a heart full of doubt, the Centaur Elder only raised the war-hammer high in hand.
