America 1982-Chapter 558 - 115: Ms. Letty, Willing to Extend a Helping Hand to Her Compatriots_3
When Jeff burst out in a roar, Iliana Leti was desperately trying to get a response from her earpiece communicator but, to her dismay, it seemed the signal was being jammed. All she could hear was the chaotic noise of static, no replies, and she had not expected Jeff Raven to bring up Orlando Bosch. Last year, she and CANF had secretly managed to settle Bosch in the United State America, which was an extremely covert operation. They had provided enormous funds to Jeb Bush, the son of President Bush, and even granted him many honorary titles to persuade him to help lobby President Bush to veto the Department of Justice’s decision to deport Bosch, granting Bosch American residency rights instead. Afterward, CANF even donated a large sum of money to several foundations related to the American justice department to ensure the whole affair didn’t attract any attention, as if an ordinary Cuban persecuted individual had quietly received a green card.
There was no way in hell a damned Miami plumber could have gotten wind of this!
What was most crucial was that the plumber had not revealed that his lobbying target was Jeb Bush, which would have drawn reporters to frantically dig into the matter—the truth being uncovered was only a matter of time. But the Jeff Raven who had not named names wouldn’t have to bear any responsibility!
It wasn’t just that the communicator was malfunctioning now. Even if it were to work properly again, Iliana Leti had lost all desire to debate with Jeff. Once this blew up, reporters and media would certainly investigate. Before more detailed and professional investigative reports came out, among the President, the Department of Justice, CANF, and herself, one needed to be sacrificed. And other than herself, who else could that sacrifice be? Either she would take on everything, losing her future, or die by suicide to close the case.
She could no longer maintain her composure, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at the plumber she had never respected before. Jeff was still talking into the microphone, his questioning tone growing colder:
"It seems CANF and you did more than just lend a helping hand to the 57 Cuban compatriots who died on Cuban flight 455. You’ve done those Cuban children a huge favor, sparing them the suffering of this world and sending them straight to heaven—how kind of you, Ms. Letty." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"As for the murderer Orlando Bosch, he’s had a much sadder fate. After sending so many innocent compatriots to heaven, he himself chose to settle in the racially discriminatory America. He might even be holding a popcorn bag watching this live TV debate right now. Hello, Orlando. You’d better pray I don’t get elected because if I do, the first thing I’ll do is urge the Department of Justice to deport you so that you won’t cause another explosion in the Eighteenth District, sending more Cuban-American citizens to heaven."
"Ms. Letty, back to the initial question, why were nine black men and five white men sent to the electric chair in America, but a Cuban terrorist received a green card with your help? Are you sure you truly believe in that saying of yours, that American law is unrelated to race or wealth?"
"Do you remember your words just now? If your Cuban compatriots commit crimes worthy of the death penalty, you’d want their execution more than I would. The Cuban-American voters in front of the TV and the non-Cuban voters are all waiting for your answer. Will you absolutely not favor Orlando Bosch, the man who killed fifty-seven Cuban compatriots, by using America’s sympathy to lobby for him to receive clemency as a persecuted Cuban and be given a green card? The Ms. Letty who is willing to lend a helping hand to her compatriots?"
