Tommy had no recollection of this event from his previous life, but that didn’t stop him from immediately putting away the professional issues he was prepared to discuss and instead, he continued with a casual tone to ask the president, "Why did they choose to visit Stanford? Such an opportunity should be grasped by Yale and Harvard no matter what."
"I’m not sure, the only thing I can be certain of is that he definitely won’t be discussing the Stanford prison experiment with me, because I reminded the Foreign Ministry over the phone that if they dare bring up this topic in front of me, whether in good faith or malice, I’ll tell him the joke about Soviet people queuing. Thus, the Foreign Ministry promised to ensure that this wouldn’t happen." Donald said while jogging, "Have you heard this joke? A Soviet worker was queueing to buy bread and after waiting for a long time without his turn coming up, he got angry and said to the person behind him, ’I’ve had enough, you hold my spot, I’m going to kill Gorbachev!’ Then, after more than two hours, he came back, and the person holding his spot excitedly asked, ’Did you kill Gorbachev?’ He said, ’No, the line to kill him was longer than the line for bread.’"
After finishing the joke, Donald didn’t hear Tommy’s response and turned to look, only to find that Tommy had already turned around and was running back the way they had come: "Tommy, you’re going the wrong way."
"Just run slowly, Mr. President, keep a clear head, I’ll come back and join you when I have time. Right now, I suddenly remembered something more important." Tommy didn’t look back, he just waved his arm at the president and continued running towards Sophia’s location.
Sophia was leisurely cycling and enjoying the morning scenery of her alma mater when Tommy suddenly came running back in a hurry, rummaging through her lady’s backpack for her phone; the action startled Sophia, who quickly braced herself on the bike to avoid falling, "What happened! Tommy! Be careful!"
"Nothing much, I need to call Susan, ask her to arrange a meeting with Professor Rice. That black woman is an expert on the Soviet Union and an advisor to the president. The president doesn’t know now, but she must know the reason why Gorbachev is visiting Stanford." Hearing words like Soviet Union and Gorbachev, Sophia looked puzzled at Tommy and asked, "Weren’t you planning to discuss with the president issues about avoiding routing deadlocks, global adaptive routing, and wormhole routing switches in computer networking? How did the subject suddenly change to the Soviet Union?"
"To see if there’s a chance to sell all of Stanford’s products to the Soviet Union before other companies can, and if necessary, like that damn Red Devil Murdoch, even giving a batch to the Soviet Union isn’t out of the question." Tommy spoke while urging Susan to answer the phone quickly.
"Aren’t you afraid that because of such actions, you’ll end up being called a Soviet spy like Murdoch?" Sophia asked with a smile, looking at Tommy’s anxious face.
In the cool morning breeze, Tommy said seriously, "It’s different. If Murdoch from Australia does this, he’s definitely a spy. Me doing this, it’s purely in the hope that Soviet people, by using American computer systems, can better understand American values and increase America’s influence in the world."
