America 1982-Chapter 669 - 10: Choose Your Own Path
"Your wife has good taste, Dennis! This nightclub is simply impeccable!" Jim stood in the opulent foyer of the nightclub, stretching out his arms happily.
Dennis shed his jacket and tossed it aside, "There was an even better place in Providence, but my status doesn’t allow for such high-profile actions. So when Catherine heard about it, she decided to step in. She took on the role of the host, dealing with how to entertain all of you. Although she has a bad temper, she’s impeccable when it comes to these things."
"I should have considered chasing after Catherine back in the day so that I wouldn’t have to worry about family matters. Look at you, you’ve almost had all her female friends, and she doesn’t care at all. Meanwhile, I just slept with three of Odelia’s best friends, and it led to a divorce," Tommy slumped into a large sofa, his tone one of envy.
"That’s because I didn’t care when Catherine slept with the bartender from Big Bird Bar. I needed her family’s money, and she needed my ambition," Dennis told the group:
"I have to say, that bartender’s cue stick was frightening. If it weren’t for my running for president, he didn’t need to have that ’accident’ so soon. When he died, Catherine was down for days. After all, it’s hard to find another white bartender with such an impressive cue stick in Providence."
Stephen, Jason, and Pam sat on a huge central platform in the foyer, observing the surroundings. As major players, Stephen looked around with some puzzlement: "This club feels familiar, but I can’t remember ever coming here."
"I couldn’t care less about whether the club feels familiar. I’m only curious about one thing," Jason asked Stephen and Pam a question, "Who can tell me why Odelia would remarry that bastard Tommy, just because he promised that he wouldn’t mess around after they remarried? Why does she believe his word is trustworthy?"
Pam shook her head, Stephen started to speak then stopped, ultimately throwing up his hands. Dennis pretended not to hear Jason’s question. Only Jim turned around, took a look at Tommy lounging on the sofa and relaxed, then turned toward Jason:
"Are you joking?"
"What do you mean?" Jason asked, puzzled.
Jim patted his own rotund belly and pointed out that everyone had put on weight: "Because he’s been running, swimming, and working out moderately every day since he was eighteen, and he kept it up until he turned sixty. I bet even if we are eager to take the ladies to the room for some fun, we could barely manage one or two rounds, and that’s with the help of drugs. But he doesn’t need them. He can still conquer any woman purely with his physical strength. This kind of extremely disciplined monster, do you think it would be hard for him to control an urge to cheat? Of course not. To someone like him, fidelity in marriage doesn’t need family constraints, just self-discipline. Odelia certainly believes he will do it, because he’s always been capable, just too lazy to do it."
"So it’s this body that made you work for him for so many years, until retirement?" Jason asked with a chuckle, slapping Jim’s belly.
Jim looked towards Tommy, his gaze somewhat wistful: "It wasn’t just the abs that made me work for him like a loyal dog for so many years."
"Sir, the carefully selected one hundred and fifty girls that Mrs. Hebers picked have been checked and can now enter," a security guard walked in, whispering to Dennis.
Dennis looked at his companions, "Cut the boring questions, let’s begin! Let’s not make the girls think we’re just a bunch of old men who only talk about politics and business, with diapers in our trousers!"
The doors to the hall opened, and a group of young beauties dressed in evening gowns and dozens of waiters flooded in, surrounding the old chaps while explosive music started to play!
...
Across from the nightclub, in a hotel suite marked with a CS on her wrist, Catherine lit a cigarette. Sitting on the sofa next to her was Odelia, who should have been in Newport, Rhode Island, preparing for her wedding tomorrow, along with Pam’s wife Carly, and Tony’s wife Ashley.
Dennis retired from active duty at thirty because of an injury, and soon after taking a clerical job at the Pentagon, he married Catherine, the queen of the CS gang at that time. Now the president of the family business in New Hampshire, Catherine had a brief marriage before; her husband was a handsome model. But the marriage ended because he couldn’t handle her bad temper.
Dennis, however, thought Catherine’s bad temper wasn’t a bad thing. This woman could plan everything for him, making his life orderly. Moreover, her family was very wealthy. For the first thirty years, Dennis spent Tommy’s money, and he was prepared to spend Catherine’s for the next thirty years.
"Did you really prepare one hundred fifty girls for them?" Carly, Pam’s wife, asked.
Catherine exhaled a cloud of smoke: "Of course, sister, genuine beauties. Plus, several dozen pretty girls were brought in from New York."
"Haven’t you noticed Odelia is on pins and needles?" Ashley joined in, "The night before the wedding, and you actually helped Tommy organize a party to find women?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Odelia was surprisingly calm: "It’s fine, Ashley. I promised to let him have his fun before the wedding. But starting tomorrow, he needs to learn how to be a responsible human being for the family."
