Ancient Tears BloodLine-Chapter 1422: An unexpected scheme!
Dark Variant Faction
Night
Three Silver Mark Warriors were brought before Faction Leader Vince.
Vince looked at them, a strange glint flashing in his eyes. "You guys are the oldest warriors in the Silver Rank. Your potential was long ago exhausted."
"There is no point in staying in the faction and continuing to waste resources here. It’s time for the three of you to leave and settle down in Star City," he said in a serious tone.
Hearing this, their faces changed drastically.
"Faction Leader, our three families are allies of the Dark Variant Faction," one of them said.
"Hmph!" Vince let out a cold snort. "That’s why you guys were able to stay here so long. I don’t like to waste resources on trash."
Their faces turned ugly. They didn’t know what to say, and they looked at each other in silence. Their potential was exhausted, that was the truth.
The atmosphere was quiet. Strangely, they realized the Faction Leader hadn’t asked them to leave right away.
One of them asked, "Faction Leader, is there something you want us to do?"
Hearing that, the other two turned towards their leader.
"Hmm. There is something on my mind. If you guys complete this task, you won’t have a problem living in Star City. I’ll recommend people to give you tasks from time to time," Vince said.
The expressions of the three warriors brightened all of a sudden. "Leader, what is it?" one asked.
"I want you guys to challenge Zack Lockwood from the Thunderflame Faction. He is a Silver Mark Warrior as well. I’m interested in his current combat strength."
"You guys don’t have to defeat him; as long as you are able to force him to use his trump card, that will be enough," Vince told them.
The three of them immediately agreed. However, Vince knew their power was only average; Zack Lockwood could easily defeat them.
"At your current strength, you are no match for Zack Lockwood. Take this pill and consume it tomorrow before fighting him." After saying that, Vince gave them each a black pill.
The three accepted the pills without question. Vince then dismissed them.
They knew the pills had something to do with their lack of strength; they had heard of Zack Lockwood’s reputation, so they didn’t ask and silently left.
...
The Following Day
I got out of bed and started my morning routine. I knew I was going to enter the warrior camp today.
It didn’t take long for me to finish. Then, I sat on the sofa and picked up my device to browse the news.
When the feed appeared, my gaze fell on articles that had my name in the headlines. I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
"Someone challenged me," I thought.
The articles said that warriors from the Dark Variant Faction wanted to fight me. The other factions were silent on the matter.
I knew most of the elite warriors were at the front; otherwise, the elemental factions themselves would have sent their warriors first. I smelled a strong conspiracy.
I had been here for just one day, yet people were already acting against me. I shook my head before continuing to read.
It took an hour before I realized what was going on. The foreign creatures had released news about a "masked man." Many thought the masked man was from the Thunderflame Faction.
I understood now why Thunderflame warriors were being targeted.
They wanted me to fight against all the other faction warriors as well.
"Hmph. If I do, I will be easily exposed. As long as I don’t show my full strength, no one will doubt me," I muttered to myself. I put away the device and went to the bath.
Meanwhile, the three warriors from the Dark Variant Faction had blocked the entrance of the Thunderflame Faction.
"We are here to challenge Zack Lockwood!"
"Where is he?"
"Tell him to come outside!"
The three warriors started shouting. Passing warriors stopped in their tracks to watch the drama. The Thunderflame Faction warriors were taken aback and went inside to report to the higher-ups.
The three challengers didn’t hide their identities; they were wearing the uniform of the Dark Variant Faction. News quickly spread across the campus. People couldn’t believe it was happening.
The faction leaders and main elders of other factions were surprised. They didn’t expect the Dark Variant Faction to make such a move.
The Faction Leader of the Thunderflame Faction, Clifford, was furious. He hadn’t even met Zack Lockwood yet, and so much had already happened.
The Dark Variant Faction was making open threats. He didn’t know what was wrong with Vince. Clifford thought that Dean Jerome would definitely take his anger out on Vince for this.
The Main Elders were shocked as well. They didn’t know where the Dark Variant Faction got the audacity.
Austin and Ann were extremely angry, waiting for Clifford’s orders, but they knew Dean Jerome wouldn’t allow any infighting.
Just as the news reached a fever pitch, a statement was released from the Dark Variant Faction.
It claimed the three Silver Mark Warriors had exhausted their potential and were leaving the faction to settle in Star City. Their final wish, however, was to fight Zack Lockwood.
The news was another shocker. People were dumbfounded. No one expected them to play it this way. Everyone wanted to challenge Zack Lockwood, but they hadn’t found a good excuse.
With their elite warriors at the front, the remaining warriors couldn’t win against him. The Dark Variant Faction’s method had caught everyone off guard.
...
Dean’s Office
Jerome saw the statement. He knew all about Faction Leader Vince’s little schemes.
To be honest, he was impressed with the method, but he had no intention of stopping them. He knew Zack Lockwood had grown stronger in the past three months.
Whatever tricks they were hiding, he believed Zack Lockwood could handle them. So he is not going to stop them. He then sent a message to the Faction Leader Clifford.
He wanted Zack Lockwood to appear outside and face the challenge.
