Angel Monarch-Chapter 430: Childhood
Chapter 430: Childhood
"No, I won’t let you win!... Dammit, how’s that even possible?! You only started playing this game a week ago, and you’re already beating me!... Life is truly unfair..."
While Lydia was cursing the game for losing, Thea cheered on Lin for his win against their friend.
The young boy looked much better after spending the past week with them. A permanent smile brightened his face, and the depression seemed to completely leave his dark blue eyes.
His body also looked much more healthy. The lack of food while growing up made him extremely thin. Even as a Transcended, he couldn’t reach his body’s full potential.
Luckily, the new diet of gigantic amounts of food and snacks began building his weight up. Now, a week later, his body’s development restarted.
Lin’s face changed the most. He looked barely ten-year-old, but with the increased nutritional diet, his facial features caught up to his actual, fourteen years of age.
While his face matured, his body also became more muscular, and he even grew a bit taller, so now he could see eye-to-eye with Lydia. However, Thea still dwarfed them both.
Other than eating, Lin spent most days playing different games on the holo-screen. His favorites were the fighting game he just beat Lydia in, and some strange driving simulator, a racing game.
He mostly played the last one, when the two girls dueled each other. However, he noticed his eyes travelling to them more often lately.
His heart always throbbed while watching them fight. At first, he didn’t quite understand these feelings, but after searching through his new watch’s archive, he found some clues... It was his sense of beauty....
Like seeing something so magnificent, your eyes simply stay glued to it, no matter the situation.
Lin kept up his watching for the first few days, but eventually he began ignoring them. Not because he didn’t find them beautiful or attractive... It was the exact opposite...
The boy’s eyes kept travelling from the girls’ delightful, sweaty faces, to their sports bras and tight shorts. He tried talking them into wearing something more loose, but supposedly that would restrict their movements during the duels.
With no other choice, he had to stop watching their duels, since the constant tension in his pants became really uncomfortable.
That only solved one problem, though. However, living with two girls brought many more similar issues, like them walking around only wearing a towel or them wanting to sleep on the same bed, since there was only one.
Thea also frequently hugged him and Lydia, which often made both of them blush. She loved conveying her feelings and appreciation physically, so Lin and Lydia had to ’suffer’ her hugs and sometimes even kisses on the cheeks.
However, while Lin complained about it vocally, he never rejected the hugs. They were quite comforting, since before meeting the two girls, he had never felt physical affection before.
His mother never hugged him. The best she did was hold his hand, which wasn’t enough connection for a young child.
Neither girl ever asked about his past. They clearly saw the pain in his eyes sometimes, but instead of trying to solve his problem, they simply cheered him up.
When having nightmares, they would hug him tightly, which always calmed him down and made him feel loved.
Lin life truly reached new heights after getting kidnapped. After realizing how badly everyone was treating him, accepting the new reality with these two beautiful girls wasn’t hard.
"Come on, Lin! We’re playing another match! I won’t accept losing to you like that!"
Lydia watched the holo-screen, selecting her character. However, she noticed Lin’s cursor wasn’t moving, so she glanced to the side.
The young boy was devouring a full bowl of chips. Occasionally, he tossed one to the side, right into Thea’s mouth. Each time she caught it, they cheered. Each time it fell short, they chuckled.
"Hey, you two gluttons! Give me some too!" Said Lydia while reaching for the bowl.
Both Lin and Thea instantly jumped to their feet, giggling. Lin held the bowl high, so Lydia couldn’t reach it easily.
When Lydia got too close, Thea playfully tackled her, right into the couch. However, she carried so much power in the jump that the entire sofa fell over. Lin lost his balance too and fell right on top of the two girls, spilling all the chips over them.
All three laughed full of joy. None of them moved for a good minute, but soon the sound of chewing echoed as Lydia began eating the chips off the ground.
Still smiling, they slowly climbed to their feet. They repaired the couch and plopped down with a collective tired sigh.
Thea reached over and snatched a chip out of Lydia’s auburn hair with a giggle. Lin reached over too with a small, awkward smile. He gently grabbed the girl’s hand while staring into her light blue eyes.
"Not to ruin the fun, but my essence is already starting to leak, so you should seal it back!"
Both girls rolled their eyes and shook their heads upon hearing his words.
"We talked about this, Lin. You aren’t a prisoner, and you wouldn’t try to escape, so sealing your essence is unnecessary!... Okay, how about this. I’ll seal it, so you only have the strength of an Ascended, like us. Does that sound good?"
Lin looked away thoughtfully and, after a few seconds of thinking, he nodded. A bright glow appeared around their Lydia’s hand.
The young boy felt his essence rapidly increase in volume. It didn’t reach the level of his Transcended Rank though, and instead stopped much lower, at the power of an Ascended.
When Lydia was done, she pulled to boy to his feet. She walked around him once, trying to see any difference in Lin’s appearance.
"Did it work? He doesn’t look different. The same short boy, with above average looks and body. Nothing special!"
After hearing Thea’s words, Lin’s dark blue eyes snapped to her, clearly showing annoyance. He pursed his lips and looked away haughtily.
"I’m not short. You’re abnormally tall for a fourteen-year-old! Also, even my above average looks are better than your... Uh... You’re not nice!"
Lin obviously couldn’t think of a great insult, which further embarrassed the boy and caused both girls to burst into laughter. Upon hearing the joy in their melodic laughs, he couldn’t help but chuckle with them.
A few seconds later, he calmed down though, and decided to showcase his ability!
A pair of small, ethereal ravens appeared on Lin’s shoulders. The girls went silent immediately and stared at the ravens with serious expressions.
For a moment, Lin thought he made a mistake and scared them. However, soon he understood they showed no signs of anger or fear... Instead, their eyes glinted in awe, like witnessing something truly amazing!
Both birds suddenly took flight and landed on each girl’s shoulder. Lydia yelped in surprise and tried to move away, while Thea simply reached up and petted her raven.
While it looked ethereal, her hand didn’t pass through the bird. She could feel the individual feathers between her fingers, and soon the raven leaned into her petting, making cute chirping noises.
"How do these work? Why do they look somewhat see through, yet they feel corporeal! What can they do?"
Thea looked really excited as she spoke and gently scratched her raven. Nearby, Lydia managed to calm down, but she still looked extremely uncomfortable.
Lin smiled brightly while walking up to Thea. He also petted his raven and answered his friend’s question to the best of his ability.
"I can summon these ravens. They have autonomy, but when I give them orders, they can’t resist. I can also change their forms into different objects, but ravens feel the most natural... They can also turn into portals, and can destroy matter!"
Both girls glanced at the young boy simultaneously. A shiver went down their spines, imagining the power of these ravens.
Upon seeing the fear and concern in their eyes, Lin ordered the ravens back to his shoulder. He then held out his hands, and both ravens landed on each.
They glowed brightly in light blue color. The girls needed to look away, not able to bear the bright light.
A few seconds later, the light lessened, and they could finally turn back towards Lin. The young boy stood before the girls, holding a strange, intricate bracelet in each hand.
One bracelet had an orange crystal enclosed in a light blue metallic socket. The other had a golden crystal enclosed in a silver metallic socket.
Lin reached out each bracelet towards its rightful owner. The sockets and crystals represented their owners’ hair and eye color.
"Take these gifts for the past week! I never had this much fun in my entire life and it’s all thanks to you two! These bracelets can turn into those two ravens, and when you’re in danger, they’ll create a portal right to me!"
He left both girls speechless, so they just silently took the bracelets and placed them on their wrists. With a mental command from both, two ravens flew out of the bracelets, landing on their shoulders.
Thea’s raven glowed in golden colors, while Lydia’s looked like trees in autumn burning in auburn colors. ƒгeewebnovёl_com
They still didn’t regain their speech, when suddenly Lin jumped and hugged both girls at the same time.
"I love you two more than anything. I hope my ravens will protect you when you’re in trouble!... Whatever happens, I’ll always come to your aid!"
Tears ran down Lin’s face, and soon he felt both girls hug him back.
They stayed like that for a while, then eventually they sat back on the couch and continued playing on the holo-screen. However, they all sat a bit closer, perfectly comfortable in each other’s presence.
