Angle's Arrogance? My Pact with the Succubus Queen!-Chapter 248: General Philip’s Betrayal!
In the end, Shadow was badly hurt by the Federation. The second chairman used the law of space to build a cage, while the first chairman burned his life to put Sacred Fire into the core of the seal.
Shadow was forced into the "Shadow Abyss," and her body was sealed by the power of the whole human race.
But her soul was still alive.
After a hundred years of hiding, she slowly spread through the underground Shadow network, infecting the Federation bit by bit.
The Night Watchman organization, Novan, the cabinet puppets, and many others were all her pawns.
The memory fragments kept coming.
Logan saw how Novan was taken over by Shadow Beings, and how he slowly became a puppet of Shadow, from a normal Legend stage to a controlled servant.
He also saw the remaining members of the Night Watchman hiding in the cities, spreading Shadow Beings to Federation citizens one by one.
He saw the dark shadows in the eyes of the seven city administrators, and the black threads inside the Federation officials’ bodies.
He even saw the seal of Shadow’s main body starting to weaken, as she absorbed the souls of fallen heroes, speeding up her escape.
Once she was fully free, the Shadow herself at the thirty-six-star Saint level would return. At that time, no one in the Federation would be able to stop her.
"Ah, I see..." Logan slowly opened his eyes, a golden light flashing in his pupils.
He left the familiar space and returned to the real world.
This information was too important. Logan didn’t waste any time and left the underground space right away.
At Star Lake, the group was still waiting around.
General Darwin, Natalia, Arthur, Camilla, and the Holt council. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Logan.
General Philip had woken up, his face pale but his eyes clear again, supported by General Darwin.
General Darwin asked urgently: "Logan, what happened?"
Logan looked around, his voice calm but heavy. "I’ve seen Novan’s memories. The truth... is worse than we imagined."
Logan told everyone what he had seen. The whole group fell into silence.
General Philip’s pupils suddenly shrank, and his breath became quick. He muttered: "Shadow... the shadow leader from the old stories of the Federation?"
When Philip said that, Darwin, Natalia, Arthur, and others all turned pale.
The legend from a thousand years ago was now real.
And the Federation’s top leaders had already been completely infiltrated.
Holt council said in a dry voice: "So Prime Minister Newson was already dead, and the three cabinet ministers were also puppets... What about our senate... our Judgement Tribunal..."
"Self-investigation and cleaning up must start right away," Logan said firmly. "No one carrying a Shadow Being can be left alive."
But just then, Philip suddenly stiffened.
He grabbed his chest, his face turned as white as paper, and a black thread flickered in his pupils like a poisonous snake.
"Bad!" Logan’s Divine Perception screamed in warning.
But it was too late. Philip’s eyes turned cold, all emotions disappeared, and in their place was a deep, empty darkness.
He slowly looked up, and a strange smile appeared on his lips. The expression was so unnatural, it wasn’t anything like Philip’s usual smile.
Logan spoke in a low voice: "Shadow?"
"Interesting vessel," Shadow said, her voice still Philip’s, but with a cold echo, as if coming from deep underground.
Philip raised his right hand, his fingers curled into a fist. A bone knife shot out from his palm, as black as ink, wrapped in shadow energy.
Without any warning, the bone blade shot straight for Logan’s back!
"Logan, watch out!" Natalia screamed immediately.
General Darwin reacted the fastest. His nanorobots quickly formed a shield behind Logan, but the bone blade pierced through it as easily as cutting paper.
Logan sidestepped and activated Space Fold.
The blade scraped across his arm, drawing a string of blood.
The pain hit, and Logan let out a grunt. He turned and slashed back with a Space Cut.
A silver line flashed.
But "Philip" twisted his body in an odd angle, avoiding the vital spot. The bone blade shot out again.
This time, it aimed straight for Logan’s throat.
"Get back!" Logan barked.
He activated his Slime Battle Style, and a tenfold space amplification exploded!
Thirty star marks lit up at once, and an absolute domain spread out.
In an instant, a five-meter space was forced into stillness.
The bone blade could only push in half an inch before it stopped completely.
But "Philip" smiled even more. He tilted his head, his pupils completely black: "A thirty-star Legend stage... yet you have this much power. Your strength interests me."
Before he finished speaking, the Shadow Realm burst out from Philip’s body.
Gray-black mist spread out, clashing violently with Logan’s absolute domain.
The space let out a painful groan, and cracks spread like a web.
"Shadow, how dare you!" Darwin roared, launching a nanostorm.
Arthur, Natalia, and Camilla all attacked at the same time.
But the Shadow Realm was too strong for anyone below twenty-star. Their attacks were like a cow entering the sea — they couldn’t even get within three meters of Philip.
"Ants," Shadow didn’t even look at them. His eyes stayed fixed on Logan, and he said with regret: "This old man’s body is too weak to hold much of my power. But killing you... is enough."
Black patterns spread across the bone blade.
The Shadow Law gathered, forming a real curse blade.
Once pierced, the soul would be corrupted and turned into a puppet.
Logan’s eyes were cold. He could feel the struggle deep in Philip’s soul. General Philip was still conscious, fighting hard against Shadow’s control, but Shadow Beings had already taken deep root. His resistance was almost nothing.
He couldn’t kill him!
He had to save Philip’s life and drive out Shadow’s consciousness at the same time.
Logan thought to himself and immediately opened his familiar space, calling out the Ancestral Spirits.
A green light burst out. An Ancestral Spirits girl stood in midair.
She still wore that simple white dress, barefoot and floating, surrounded by strong life energy.
"Cleanse the Shadow Beings inside him," Logan ordered.
The girl nodded and made a hand sign.
A green light column came down from the sky, covering Philip completely.
Life energy and Shadow Law clashed fiercely, making a "hissing" sound, like water poured on hot oil.
"Ancestral Spirits?!" Shadow’s voice finally showed some worry.
Shadow’s body shook violently. The black mist was forced out of Philip’s body, disappearing like steam.
But the Shadow Beings had taken too deep root. They couldn’t be removed so easily.
Seizing the chance, Logan took a step forward.
His golden blood burned inside, and his Divine Perception reached its peak.
He curled his right hand, and space energy gathered into an invisible long blade.
"Get out!" A slash came down.
It wasn’t aimed at Philip, but at the shadow consciousness clinging to the Shadow Being.
"Roar!" Philip let out a non-human scream.
The black mist rolled wildly, trying to resist. But the divine burning nature of the golden blood was too strong for Shadow Energy.
Where the golden light passed, the black mist melted like ice in the sun.
The Shadow consciousness screamed: "Logan, I remember you! When I break free, you’ll suffer the worst pain in the world!"
Its voice faded away.
Philip’s body went limp and he fell forward.
Logan caught him in time. He felt that though the Shadow Beings inside Philip hadn’t been completely removed, the Shadow consciousness had been pushed back for now.
For a moment, the underground space became quiet again.
Everyone sighed in relief, but their hearts felt heavier.
Shadow had only sent a small part of its consciousness, and almost hurt Logan. What would happen if the real body arrived?
General Darwin stepped forward, took General Philip from Logan, and asked: "Logan, what now?"
Logan wiped blood from his mouth and his eyes were sharp as a knife. "Tell all the Federation’s top leaders. The Shadow War has already begun."
Philip was still unconscious, but the Shadow Beings inside him were still moving.
The Shadow consciousness had been pushed back, but it left a strong curse behind.
Black threads wrapped around his soul core, like a poison in the bone. They kept eating away at the General’s life force.
Logan didn’t hesitate. He ordered immediately: "Ancestral Spirits, do it with all your power."
"Yes." the Ancestral Spirits girl said. She floated above General Philip, her hands open. A stream of green light poured down like a waterfall.
The life energy surrounded General Philip completely. Every inch of his skin, every bone was washed and purified by pure energy.
But the Shadow Beings resisted very strongly.
The black threads twisted wildly, clashing fiercely with the green light.
Philip’s body shook violently, and black blood spilled from his mouth.
The Ancestral Spirits girl frowned slightly. "It’s not working... just purification won’t be enough. The Shadow Beings have merged deeply with his soul. If we pull them out forcefully, it will damage his core."
Logan’s eyes sharpened.
He had expected this. The things Shadow left behind weren’t that easy to get rid of. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Then we try a different way." Logan stepped forward and placed his right hand on Philip’s forehead.
His golden blood surged, and the Divine Perception power shot into Philip’s soul like a sharp needle.
In an instant, Logan saw the full picture of the Shadow Being — a black seed, covered in strange runes.
Its roots were deeply planted in the soul core, constantly draining life force, while releasing Shadow toxins through General Philip’s nervous system. This was the core method Shadow used to control puppets.
"Found it." Logan took a deep breath and concentrated his Divine Perception to the maximum.
Golden light flowed from his palm, turning into countless thin threads. They carefully wrapped around the roots of the Shadow Being.
This wasn’t a violent pull. It was precise burning.
The divine burning naturally suppressed the Shadow Energy.
"Start." Logan said quietly. The golden threads suddenly ignited, turning into Sacred Fire that spread along the roots.
The Shadow Being struggled wildly. Black mist poured out, trying to put out the Sacred Fire, but once it was lit, it couldn’t be stopped.
Philip let out a painful scream, his body bending like a shrimp. His soul was torn between two powers, as if it was being ripped apart.
"Stay strong!" General Darwin clenched his fists, his nails digging into his palms.
Natalia, Arthur, and others held their breath, watching Philip closely.
The Ancestral Spirits girl wasn’t idle either. She kept sending life energy, protecting Philip’s soul core from breaking during the burning process.
