Chapter 70: Where’s my Sushi?

Axel gulped as he saw those chilling eyes which seemed to be looking down on everything.

He glanced at the rock covered hidden entrance, contemplating if he should slam on it and ask the old man for help. But deep down, he knew the old man wouldn’t reply, so he did the only logical thing.

He turned to face Imu, his eyes glistened, steeling his heart as he spoke.

"Hey miss Imu, been a while."

Her cold eyes scanned him, "don’t make me repeat myself."

Taking a deep breath, Axel looked down, his eyes suddenly lit up.

"I wasn’t able to get your sushi." Imu’s gaze turned colder, a chill travelled up Axel’s spine.

"But...but," He quickly lifted his finger, his other hand reaching for his pocket.

"I got something better," He pulled out the crystal, a smile forming on his face as he noticed Imu’s gaze transfixed on the crystal.

Her expression was still cold, but at least she seemed interested, or so Axel thought.

"Do you want to die?"

Axel blinked, what?

That cold chill suddenly returned.

"Did I not make myself clear?" Imu stopped leaning on the wall, a sudden weight suddenly pressed down on Axel.

"Do you think I’m stupid to ask you for sushi?"

Axel could only grit his teeth as she took a step forward, the pressure on him increasing.

"What do you think you are?"

"Presenting a crystal, I said sushi for a reason, or do you think I’m wrong."

Axel shook his head and dropped to his knee, she spoke slowly and calmly, yet it felt like her voice was resounding in his head.

"Now where is my sushi?" She stopped in front of his kneeling figure, looking down with disdain.

"Or are you that useless?"

Axel’s senses flared, a sudden premonition coming upon him, his senses screamed danger.

His hand quickly moved towards the gishiki. As he touched it, his eyes glowed red.

The bladed edge of Imu’s hand made contact with his neck about to detach it, but it passed through harmlessly.

Axel quickly rolled away, towards the entrance of the cave, creating space between him and her.

Imu looked curiously at her hand then at Axel.

Axel turned and was about to run out of the cave, when Imu appeared at the entrance.

She casually looked at her hands, then at Axel. Her head tilted.

"Intriguing."

Axel stepped back warily, the glow in his eyes switching to green.

But the next second his breath stilled as he saw Imu walk casually and slowly towards him.

His gaze moved to the katana, it was indeed glowing green, as a matter of fact he noticed an insect frozen on the ground.

Time was indeed frozen, but Imu wasn’t affected.

Axel watched with dread as she approached, luckily he had one more trump card.

"You didn’t get my sushi, but..."

Before she could finish Axel disappeared, black threads pulled him somewhere.

Imu stared blankly at the cave, she yawned and shook her head.

***

Axel’s original plan was to teleport back into the old man’s abode, but as he disappeared something else happened.

Usually to teleport, the threads pull the distance between two locations, stitching them together in a way to eliminate the space.

That required a concrete location, a space or a thing. Of course he couldn’t teleport into a living being, it had to be empty space. He had tried, but it seemed there was a rule or law preventing that.

But nonetheless, as he tried to teleport to Indus, something interesting happened, there was no location. No, that was wrong, there was a location, but a higher power existed around the space, forcibly redirecting the threads.

Most likely the work of Indus, after all if he was as old as the gishiki who knew what he could do.

Due to that, his destination had randomly changed.

That was terrifying, Axel thought as he stood up and patted down dust from his body.

"A minute longer and I might have died from her presence," he shuddered as he remembered that suffocating pressure, his hand subconsciously moved to rub his neck.

Taking a deep breath, he was about to scan where he landed when a voice came from behind him.

"Who do you think I am?"

Axel leapt back, hand reaching for the gishiki.

How is this possible? Axel thought as he saw Imu casually leaning against a pillar.

"Do you really think you can escape from me, Imu?"

"How cute."

She looked at her hand once more, "I could kill you, but..."

For a few seconds she said nothing, adding to the tension Axel felt. His mind raced as he contemplated how to escape.

"I am bored." She finally looked at Axel. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"And you’d entertain me else..."

She didn’t need to complete her statement.

"Come," she turned, heading somewhere.

Axel finally felt his heart calm down, he had somehow managed to survive, but now what.

He sighed and dragged his hand down his face.

"How do I keep meeting these people?"

And with that he finally looked around, scanning where he had landed. It appeared to be a residential building or at least that’s what he thought from the broken furniture sprawled around to the utensils scattered on the floor.

But something was off about this setting.

That’s it. Axel eyes lit up.

Typically, in these settings, the utensils were usually broken, just like the furniture, but...

As he looked around, not a single one was broken, just scattered around.

How curious, Axel bent down and picked a bowl.

The plate was incredibly light, lighter than normal utensils, almost like it was made of plastic.

Yet Axel could tell it wasn’t plastic, it was more like ceramic.

But there’s no way ceramic would be this thin, not to mention survive what appeared to be a hurried escape.

Let’s see.

Axel smashed the plate against the wall, a dull ringing sound spread within the room, the wall shook slightly.

He looked at the plate, searching for any crack or even dent, yet there was none.

With his strength, breaking a plate should have been easy, not to mention one so slim, unless...

Don’t tell me this is also made of zvezdan.

Axel shook his head at the absurdness of that thought. Using a rare and precious metal to create utensils, just who lived here.

Before Axel could explore even further, the house started shaking.

"What the hell," he quickly dashed towards the door.

The first thing he noticed was Imu’s finger pressed against the wall.

Her gaze lingered on him for a second, then she pushed. The house came crumbling down.

Axel’s brow twitched, You couldn’t have just called.

He shook his head and shuddered as he thought of what this monster had in store for him.

And judging from her face.

What was he saying, her cold, disdainful face barely showed any emotion.

It was like everything was beneath her, and he had somehow gotten entangled with her.

Axel calmly tucked the plate into his shirt and turned to Imu.

Whatever came next, he knew it definitely didn’t involve Sushi.
