Apocalypse Forecast-Chapter 684 - 564 Making Friends_3
"Everyone is simply fulfilling their duties; there’s no personal relationship involved. So please, don’t question the integrity of your personnel. If you must say something, then just consider me more likable."
The shameless Gold Medal Cowherd tossed his hair. He sized up Liz, his expression suddenly tinged with surprise. "That outfit isn’t bad at all. Did you get a new hairstyle?"
The teenage girl standing before him no longer possessed her past aggressive aura. Though her eyes remained defiant, the combination of her makeup and earrings was simply perfect.
Her hair, previously flowing down her back, had been braided, lending her a much softer demeanor.
Paired with figure-hugging jeans and a T-shirt, she looked youthful and vibrant.
"Otherwise?" Liz asked indifferently. "Otherwise? Do you think I’m the kind of woman whose muscles have grown into her brain?"
"Not at all," Huai Shi earnestly responded. "It was just a compliment."
"I hope so." She said nothing more.
Even so, her mood involuntarily improved a little.
It was fair to say that the men inside Ivy Vine were either Dead nerds, perpetually in checkered shirts, or a bunch of chauvinists who didn’t treat her like a woman at all.
She’d never expected that the first person to notice her new hairstyle and earrings would be *this* guy.
Although their brief past was filled with unpleasantness, she had to admit this guy at least had some taste.
It didn’t betray his handsome face.
"Come with me." She gestured for someone nearby to open the lock. "The Teacher wants to see you."
Huai Shi nodded. He cooperatively allowed the staff to cuff his wrists and shackle him, then smiled at the others. "That’s all for today then. Everyone should hurry back to work. And Mr. Hubert, remember to eat less oily and salty food; your cholesterol has been over the limit for quite a while."
A somewhat overweight guard laughed, patting his belly and waving at Huai Shi, thanking him for his concern.
Liz’s expression instantly darkened again.
This guy! Was he really showing off his close relationships with others right in front of her, without any reservation? Did he not take her seriously at all?!
"True hearts beget true hearts." As if he could guess what she was pondering, Huai Shi sighed and offered sincere advice, "Making friends is truly simple. It’s just that you’ve been the High Priest for too long, always acting so high and mighty that everyone is afraid of you."
"Shut up." Annoyed, Liz punched him in the stomach.
She turned and walked ahead.
However, as she passed other cells, her steps faltered for a moment when she saw one of the prisoners—the Eye of Nightmare, who had been locked up here recently for fighting with an Ivy Vine member.
The man, covered in muscles and scars, wore a tank top. He was persistently working out with a dumbbell in one hand while the other held a book, engrossed, occasionally humming along to something.
Liz stopped, frowning. "What are you reading?"
"Hmm?" The burly man glanced at her and lifted the book’s cover to show her.
*Introduction To Classical Music Appreciation*.
Goddamn classical music!
"Are you guys sick?" Liz felt her temples begin to throb.
Seriously, can’t you look at your own image? Do you look like you have *anything* to do with classical music?
The man, still exercising, merely looked at her blankly, not understanding what kind of fit she was throwing.
"Forget it." Gritting her teeth, Liz stalked on, a fire smoldering in her belly.
She really shouldn’t have taken this job today!
