Apocalypse Forecast-Chapter 699 - 756: Davarish, It Seems Like This is Smoking!_1
In the midst of their furious drive, accompanied by Huai Shi’s cry of alarm, the speeding truck suddenly dipped its front, barely skimming over the swinging tentacles and narrowly passing under the immensity of the giant octopus.
The sticky fluids dripping from its wounds splattered on the vehicle’s body, sizzling upon contact and instantly corroding wide swathes of paint to reveal the ugly metal skin underneath.
"My damn truck!"
Before Huai Shi could finish, Raymond began to scream as if he had lost his parents, "My damn truck! To think it’s going to be scrapped before I’ve even finished paying off the loan... Getting rammed at the front, shelled by cannons, and then hunted down was bad enough, but this damn mutilation—what the hell is going on!"
With tearful grief, Raymond furiously pounded on the steering wheel, shouting, "Is there no law anymore? Is there no justice?!"
Even though he screamed as if he had been poked in the rear by Avery, the Ten Thousand Chiefs’ Heavy Sword, his body was quite honest in mashing the accelerator to the floor, even yanking the lever for the secondary boosters all the way back.
Two exhaust jets unfolded again from the rear of the truck, shooting out flames.
In an instant, the massive truck shot up like a skyrocket, soaring above the clouds once more, evading two entangling tentacles and leaving all pursuers in the dust.
Just as they were about to take a breath of relief, they heard the Synthetic Bio-beast roar in fury.
Its blood-red single eye fixated on the truck. Clearly, the War Chip had marked the vehicle as an enemy, even prioritizing it over returning to base for repairs. It disregarded its own maintenance and swung its tentacles in pursuit.
More than ten tentacles abruptly unfurled, touching the clouds above with the ease of a ferryman’s bamboo pole. This caused ripples to spread across the cloud layer, while its building-sized body launched itself out, defying all reason, relentlessly pursuing them.
With it leading the charge, Huai Shi and his companions stood out like sore thumbs. Patrolling flying vehicles around them and the swirling Salamanders all shuddered, then swarmed toward the truck like a school of fish.
Inside the truck’s cabin, the piercing sound of the alarm was nearly continuous, growing ever more shrill. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"We’re bloody doomed!"
Raymond screamed, "What on earth did you do at their headquarters? Why are they looking at you like they’ve seen the neighbor Old Wang?"
"Why does it have to be me!" Huai Shi retorted angrily. "It could also be because they saw a former Second fifth! I’m saying, that stunt you pulled, didn’t you go overboard?"
"How the hell would I know? I just casually grabbed something to take revenge on society. Who knew that thing would be..."
Raymond’s defensive words trailed off, and he awkwardly shifted his gaze. "Well, I guess it’s not impossible."
"See!"
Huai Shi was indignant. "You bastard! Confess, what exactly did you steal!"
"...It’s not yours, so why the hell are you so worked up!"
Raymond finally snapped back, glaring at the opportunist. "We’ve already engaged the secondary thrusters anyway; those crippled freaks behind us are no match... I won’t ask what exactly you did at their place, and you don’t pry into other people’s secrets, alright?"
Huai Shi opened his mouth to speak.
"Enough already. Everyone has their dark past; let’s not dwell on it, okay?"
"It’s not that..."
"Not what? I’m suffering too, you know? Homeless, wandering Hell for so many years, I can’t even find a place to refuel."
"I mean..."
"It doesn’t matter who you are!"
"Would you just shut up!"
Huai Shi’s face went pale. He pointed ahead and screamed, "Enough with the jabbering! Will you just watch the damn road!"
"Road? What road? As if there’s a speed limit sign up here—I’m fucked!"
Raymond had just glanced forward when he immediately let out a scream, just like Huai Shi’s.
An endless darkness unfolded before them, and from within it, a huge War Synthetic Beast suddenly pounced—the very octopus they had left far behind.
"What the hell is this?!"
Raymond violently spun the steering wheel, almost tearing it off. The whole truck drifted in the air, narrowly dodging the gaping maw ready to swallow them whole. It skidded over the Synthetic Beast’s tentacles, once again evading a deadly brush with death.
Soon after, they witnessed the huge Bio-beast they had left behind suddenly extend all its tentacles, ejecting a blob of pitch-black ink from its maw.
The ink enveloped it, rapidly shrinking and then vanishing from sight.
Directly in front of them, above the clouds, a point of darkness suddenly spread. A warped contour emerged, and then, the enormous Bio-beast leaped out from it, attacking them with bared fangs and claws.
This goddamn thing can actually teleport!
Raymond had even forgotten to curse. He instinctively lifted his foot, intending to hit the brake, but he heard Huai Shi’s voice beside him, "Don’t stop, charge it!"
"What?!"
Raymond was bewildered, but out of trust for Huai Shi, his foot on the accelerator did not relent.
He charged straight ahead, bearing down on the menacing, giant octopus.
"What are you doing, man? We’re really going to die!" Raymond was so panicked he could barely speak.
But beside him, Huai Shi undid his seat belt and waved nonchalantly. "You just drive; Teacher will come up with a plan!"
"Hey, are you trying to get one over on me?"
Before Raymond could react, a whirlwind suddenly swept in from the open door, filling his mouth, and then the door slammed shut under the air pressure.
