Chapter 37: Chapter 33 Fog Spider

The streets under the dense fog appeared exceptionally eerie, as if even the sunlight was almost entirely blocked.

Lin Xian and KIKI drove onto a deserted section of road, suddenly stopping the car.

"Something’s not right."

Lin Xian also felt an odd aura at this moment; he immediately pulled out the Short Knife from behind and wore a face full of caution.

Rustle~

Patter, patter~

The sounds grew from far to near, quickly turning into a tumultuous shrieking clamor.

Hearing this noise, both of their faces changed instantly!

"Zombies?" Lin Xian cried out in alarm.

"It doesn’t quite seem like it..."

In the midst of their conversation, several zombies suddenly charged out of the dense fog in front of the motorcycle. Lin Xian saw that these were not like the zombies they had encountered before; their skin was gray and decaying, they moved with rapid speed, and some even resembled animals as they scurried on all fours.

This scene reminded him of ’Uncle Li’ they had encountered that night when rescuing KIKI in Jiang City’s shelter!

In the blink of an eye, a tide of Monster Corpses surged out from behind these few, scaring KIKI to the point of turning pale. She immediately scolded, "Hold tight!"

Then she released the brake and roared the throttle, the motorcycle’s rear wheel spinning rapidly under strong traction, creating a plume of white smoke on the ground.

"Forward!"

Without a second word, Lin Xian raised his hand and unleashed a Wind Gun, blowing the head of a weird male corpse leaping towards them right in the middle of the street!

Ahhh!!!!

The mournful screams rose from all around, and the motorcycle bolted away, narrowly dodging the clutches of several Monster Corpses. Lin Xian was on high alert, sitting in the back seat slashing with the knife in his right hand while continuously firing Wind Guns with his left, trying to escape through the relentless tide of corpses.

Boom!

A Wind Gun bisected a female corpse at the waist, and at that moment, a black Earthworm-like creature was blasted out from its back. Lin Xian saw this and his face immediately darkened.

"These aren’t ordinary zombies!"

A great terror filled his heart; based on past experience, shouldn’t these Abnormal Bodies only appear at night? Why would they be out in broad daylight?

"Damn it!"

While KIKI was driving, she saw a dozen Monster Corpses suddenly pounce at them. In her panic, she gritted her teeth, raised her hand with a swing, and whoosh! A powerful Shock Wave appeared, instantly blowing away the Monster Corpses in front, allowing the motorcycle to break through the encirclement.

Lin Xian, seeing KIKI taking action, felt a bad premonition right away. The motorcycle’s head shook slightly. He turned his head to see KIKI’s face visibly paled a lot, her hands trembling while controlling the motorcycle.

He immediately activated Mechanical Heart to take control of the motorcycle, and as KIKI was puzzled by the sudden autonomy of the vehicle, Lin Xian suddenly pulled her to the back seat and took over the front seat, pressing the throttle and moving on again.

"Hey, what are you doing~"

"This fog is problematic, don’t use your powers recklessly!"

All survivors knew that the terrifying Abnormalities would appear at night, and it was still daytime. Lin Xian thought that he and KIKI, as two superpower users, should be able to handle the situation easily, but the emergence of these Monster Corpses had caught him off guard.

These Abnormal Bodies were much faster than zombies; ordinary people wouldn’t even have time to react without firearms, which gave him the urge to retreat. If Abnormal Bodies could appear in the thick fog, didn’t that mean that it was very possible that something similar to the White Giant Monster or the red giant Earthworm might emerge?

Lin Xian’s thoughts swiftly changed, and he immediately prepared to abandon the original objective.

"Take a left up ahead." KIKI behind him, perhaps feeling her own weakness, did not bicker with Lin Xian as usual but instead wrapped around his back meekly like a kitten.

She was already somewhat cold, and now after using her superpower, she felt a chill throughout her body, unconsciously tightening her grip on Lin Xian, trying to draw warmth from his back as she suppressed her pounding heart.

"We probably can’t make it to the place you mentioned, let’s go back!" Lin Xian said decisively.

KIKI looked back at the tide of corpses surging behind the motorcycle, her face turning sour as she complained, "How do we get back..."

Lin Xian looked at the rearview mirror, then at the map. If they wanted to get back to Beiwan Station, other than returning the way they came, they could only detour through the city’s outer highway. With the tide of corpses chasing them, it was impossible for him to turn back now.

Just then, a sharp whooshing noise sounded, and Lin Xian, looking at the dense fog ahead, suddenly felt every hair on his body standing on end!

He decisively pressed the brake and swerved the front of the car; the next second, something like a bamboo pole suddenly shot down from above their heads, making a "ding" sound as it pierced the ground beside them, smashing the concrete floor into a small pit and sending debris flying everywhere!

Lin Xian was suddenly covered in cold sweat; had he not instinctively taken a turn just now, he might have been impaled by that thing.

"What is that?!" KIKI exclaimed.

The motorcycle’s rear wheel spun madly, emitting a piercing screeching sound; a few meters upon accelerating, the whistling air was heard again. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

"Careful!"

Thump!

Another sharp pillar fell from above; Lin Xian twisted the steering handle, narrowly avoiding a head-on collision.

This time, he could see more clearly; the ’bamboo-like pillar’ seemed covered in dense, black fuzz, looking like some sort of living creature.

"Bad guys, look up!"

At this time, KIKI, terrified, patted Lin Xian’s shoulder urgently, prompting him to immediately look up.

Above their heads shrouded in fog, there was a humongous spider-shaped shadow; the contour of the buildings on the street seemed rather small in comparison, and its six disproportionately long and slender spider legs appeared to be over a dozen meters long—the things that shot down from above just now were obviously two of the creature’s claws.

"This damn thing..." Lin Xian’s pupils trembled slightly as he cursed inwardly, wondering why everything he said would come to pass.

The sight of this bizarrely huge spider caused one’s sanity to plummet. Without thinking, Lin Xian floored the throttle, charging into the thick fog ahead.

"Damn it, why is it always bugs and spiders!!" KIKI, with her neck shrunken, was tightly hugging Lin Xian, cursing out loud.

At this moment, Lin Xian’s expression was taut, completely focused on the foggy road ahead.

Thump~ Thump! Thump! Thump!

That strange spider seemed to have set its sights on Lin Xian, as a few of its fine legs moved swiftly, continuously thrusting down through the thick fog!

"Left!" KIKI yelled.

Lin Xian quickly changed direction.

"From above!"

Lin Xian pressed the brake again.

But the spider’s legs were simply too long; its rapid movement between buildings was much faster than Lin Xian’s.

Thump~ Thump! Thump! Thump!

A giant creature was heard climbing over buildings above; in just a moment, the monstrous spider stretched out several long legs and blocked Lin Xian’s path at the intersection, as if toying with its prey.

"Damn it!"

Upon seeing the giant spider slowly descending from the fog ahead, Lin Xian immediately prepared to fire the Wind Cannon.

Just then, a thunderous roar of a car engine suddenly exploded, and white headlights pierced through the fog from another direction of the intersection; in an instant, a massive modified pickup truck burst forth!

Bam!

The immense impact knocked several of the giant spider’s legs sideways, causing it to topple over, unsteady.

In the blink of an eye, the modified pickup executed a graceful powerslide tail swing, stopping right in front of them.

Clang!

The pickup’s tailgate dropped, and a girl about eleven or twelve years old hastily called out to them, "Come on, get in!"

Lin Xian immediately understood, and without any hesitation, he revved the throttle and drove the motorcycle up into the back of the pickup; the girl then patted the side of the tailgate and said, "Alright, bro!"

Roar~

Without a moment’s delay, the modified pickup floored the accelerator and charged away.

At this time, as if feeling mocked, the monster spider let out an angry howl and its six long legs frantically sprung off the ground, rapidly chasing after the pickup truck.
