Apocalypse: I'm the Landlady of the Refuge-Chapter 26 - Level 3 Refuge
Chapter 26: Chapter 26 Level 3 Refuge
Chapter 26: Chapter 26 Level 3 Refuge
Ji Wanwan fell silent for a moment.
Although the System was impressive, it also had many problems that it could not answer.
She faintly felt that what the System knew was related to what she had seen and experienced, yet she wasn’t quite sure.
It seemed she could only wait and explore slowly as time went on.
After clarifying the things she wanted to know, Ji Wanwan instructed the System to start upgrading the refuge.
[Beep——]
The interface disappeared, and starting from Ji Wanwan as the point of origin, the internal structure of the refuge began to upgrade.
First was the storage room; the interior of the storage room became more spacious and comfortable, and the cleaning equipment and tools were more complete than before.
Stepping out of the storage room, Ji Wanwan noticed the corridor was more spacious and brighter than before. The original staircase had disappeared, replaced by two elevators.
She was slightly stunned.
Continuing forward, Ji Wanwan saw a floor map on the wall next to the elevator exit.
She walked up to it.
According to the map, the refuge now had three floors after the upgrade.
The first floor was the living area, with the reception, dining hall, operating room, water dispenser, fast food vending machine, personal belongings vending cabinets, and storage room all on the first floor.
The second and third floors were the accommodation areas, with single rooms on the second floor and suites on the third floor.
The only new room on the first floor was an operating room, so Ji Wanwan decided to first check out the accommodation areas on the second and third floors.
Upon reaching the second floor, she opened her own single room 201.
The moment the door opened, Ji Wanwan was somewhat dazzled.
Oh my, this is a qualitative leap!
The single room had been upgraded from a one-bed, one-bath to include a living room, effectively becoming a luxury studio apartment suitable for solitary living.
She pursed her lips and stepped toward the living room…
The living room in the single room was small but cozy, complete with a TV, refrigerator, microwave oven, and kettle.
There was a comfortable cloud-like sofa by the window, complete with a soft blanket – Ji Wanwan could even imagine herself curled up on the sofa, basking in the sunlight.
She then proceeded to the bathroom.
The wet and dry separated bathroom had doubled in size from before.
To the left was a floor-to-ceiling window, beside which stood a large bathtub with a shelving unit next to it that held aromatherapy candles.
Not far from the bathtub was a washer-dryer combo.
Ji Wanwan’s mouth twitched into a smile.
If not for the apocalypse, such a bathing environment would be quite comfortable, but now outside the floor-to-ceiling window was either zombies or ruins, hardly a pleasant view.
On the right side of the bathroom was the usual wet and dry areas, laid out from inside out as the shower area, toilet, and wash basin.
Turning around to the bedroom, Ji Wanwan’s eyes began to sparkle.
The white walls of the bedroom had been upgraded to warm white wall coverings, and the large white floor tiles were replaced with warm sun-colored oak flooring.
The 1.2-meter bed had been upgraded to a 1.5-meter double bed.
The bedding had been replaced with even softer and more comfortable creamy-white long-staple cotton.
The bedroom wardrobe had been upgraded to a small walk-in closet, the bedroom desk and chair had been upgraded to a small workstation, and what’s more, the bedroom now had a balcony. The balcony thoughtfully included a three-tiered plant stand with several pots of vibrant green plants.
More outrageously, the bedroom even had air conditioning!
Ji Wanwan was so shocked she was speechless.
After viewing the single room, Ji Wanwan could only exclaim, “Wow.”
After viewing the single room, Ji Wanwan proceeded to the suites on the third floor.
With the shock from the single room, Ji Wanwan was quite ready to accept the changes in the suites.
The one-bedroom, one-living-room, one-bathroom suites had been upgraded to luxurious two-bedroom, two-living-room, two-bathroom suites, styled just as warm and comfortable.
Its interior facilities were more complete than those of a single room, and the living room sofa was larger and more luxurious than that of a single room. The additional dining room was very suitable for a family to sit together and dine and chat.
The balcony connected to the living room was larger than that of a single room, with more green plants and even a tea table and a few rattan chairs.
The bathroom in the living room was exquisitely decorated, with a dry-wet separation, much larger than before; the master bedroom’s bathroom also possessed a floor-to-ceiling window and a bathtub, similarly allowing one to enjoy the “scenery” outside while bathing.
As for the bedrooms, besides the bed in the master bedroom being larger and the addition of a television, the other arrangements were quite similar to those of a single room.
Ji Wanwan clicked her tongue while proceeding to the first floor.
She dared not imagine what a level 4 refuge could look like—it must be absurdly luxurious!
The elevator arrived at the first floor, and Ji Wanwan followed the map to the surgery room.
Due to the special nature of the surgery room, Ji Wanwan did not have access to open it, and anyone else who needed to use the surgery room had to get her permission.
If anyone tried to forcibly break the surgery room’s door, they would face an attack from 001.
Opening the door to the surgery room, Ji Wanwan glanced inside.
The basic surgery room had fundamental medical equipment and relatively complete medications, capable of handling some internal and external injuries and diagnostics; minor surgeries could be performed as long as there was a doctor.
Looking at the detection equipment, Ji Wanwan suddenly thought of the ant zombie’s skull in the Space System.
The objects before her sprung back into action.
Ji Wanwan closed the door to the surgery room and immediately took out the skull fragments from the space, placing them on the detection device.

[Beep beep beep—]
Shortly after, the results from the detection device were ready.
Ji Wanwan quickly stepped forward.
According to the results displayed by the device, the main components of the ant zombie’s skull were calcium carbonate, bone collagen, and protein—somewhat similar to the composition of a turtle shell.
However, there was also a trace amount of an unknown component that the device could not detect.
This component had a certain level of biological activity and could cause some changes to the body.
Ji Wanwan speculated that this component might be the zombie virus.
If there were more precise and advanced equipment, it might be possible to extract this component, thus making the research on the zombie virus easier.
Having cleaned up the equipment, Ji Wanwan left the surgery room.
Just as she opened the door, a rush of water at the depth of a calf poured in fiercely.
Ji Wanwan was slightly taken aback and subconsciously lifted her head.
Seeing the continuous flow of water pouring out from the elevator shaft, Ji Wanwan questioned, “What’s happening?”
[Dinglingling—]
Ji Wanwan’s phone rang.
She pulled it out to see it was Xia Li.
She answered immediately, “Ah…”
“Wanwan! What is Xu Siming doing? Is he the Dragon King? Is he trying to flood Chengtang Pass?”
Before she could finish her word, Xia Li’s frantic voice crackled through the phone.
Ji Wanwan: “…”
After a brief silence, she hung up and teleported directly to the second floor.
Just as she arrived on the second floor and was not yet steady, Ji Wanwan was toppled by a wave.
Ji Wanwan: “What’s going on?”
Behind her, a pair of fair, slender hands supported her waist, helping her stand upright in the waist-deep water.
Turning around to see the drenched Xia Li, Ji Wanwan was stunned.
She then turned her gaze towards room 206, looking at the door that had been battered by the water, and the water still pouring out relentlessly, Ji Wanwan’s pupils dilated.
