Chapter 41: Chapter 39: Farewell, My Friends

Vera opened her eyes in a sea of flowers.

The intense fragrance filled her nose as she sat up straight, discovering that the pure white wings beneath her were blossoming with countless brightly colored flowers.

Raising her head, the golden corridor suspended in the pale blue sky was also covered in vines, intertwining like snakes, twisting, coiling, and giving birth to even more beautiful flower species.

The world was breathtakingly beautiful.

Jumbled memories gradually flooded Vera’s mind.

She struggled to stand, looking bewilderedly at the corpses before her.

The gold power armor lying on the ground was shattered, and the cracked face of the armor exposed Sami’s slightly youthful face.

The roots of the four-color viola pierced deeply into the medic’s flesh, he maintained a crawling position forward, grasping the shattered medicine injector powerlessly, glaring unwillingly with dimming eyes.

Looking further ahead, Captain Ota’s body was torn into two parts, black roses and lilies greedily sucked at the giant’s entrails, growing from the gap of the severed body.

Vera walked forward slowly, stepping on the writhing flower carpet.

Ansel knelt halfway not far away, thorny vines coiled around the Priest’s hammers and legs, his head lost, frost velvet flowers swaying in the wind from his neck.

Lastly, it was her own corpse.

Colorful blooming roses pierced through ’Vera’s’ chest, the red-haired woman leaned against the base of a signal station, her beautiful eyes now lifeless.

The tragic scene before her brewed a despairing beauty.

The seventh surveying squad, annihilated.

Vera was stunned for a long, long time.

She clearly remembered the entire process of the squad dying in the ’Garden of the Beauty Goddess,’ yet in another memory, the Giant Squad was led untouched by the Justice Angel into the depths of the Divine Kingdom...

Reality seemed to have undergone a bizarre split.

Am I dead or alive now?

"The Justice Angel told me, death is your true ending in history."

A gentle voice sounded in Vera’s ear; she turned her head to find a very small gray-haired boy standing beside her.

"The seventh surveying squad, unfortunately, encountered the ’Beauty God’s’ blessing during a mission, ultimately leading to the total annihilation."

"That Ouroboros stole the concept authority of ’growth of all things’ from the sun, successfully permeating its branches into the Sun Divine Kingdom,"

He looked up at her, explaining: "So it can hunt you sinners attempting to kill gods at will under the guise of ’Sun Worshiper’."

Vera tried her utmost to sort through her thoughts.

The realm of gods was indeed bizarre and eerie.

"So, we are actually dead?"

Vera stared at her flower-covered corpse, her tone was uncertain and suspicious.

"Yes, you were destined to die in history, it’s just that my arrival inadvertently disturbed your fate."

Lin Lan nodded, his gaze struggled to reach over the hills, looking into her eyes, bluntly stated: "If I leave here, the historical trajectory will instantly collapse to the path of your deaths."

"Actually, I find it hard to understand what these words mean either, anyway, that’s exactly how the old man’s original words were."

The boy scratched his head and then complained: "Can you sit down and listen to me? My neck is getting sore."

Vera quickly and respectfully sat next to the boy, hugging her knees.

She recognized this voice.

In the memory where the entire squad survived, the King of Angels who held justice esteemed him, and the great Eternal Fierce Sun was willing to offer everything to him.

Lin Lan continued his narration.

"The sun entrusted me to tell you, it apologizes for your deaths, but it cannot prevent the ’Sun Worshiper’ from its protective actions, for gods are born bearing the shackles of faith."

His tone was firm: "But you also succeeded, the coordinates of the Sun Divine Kingdom have been successfully sent to Ark headquarters with the help of the Justice Angel, your third mine plan will surely be realized in the future."

"And the price of all this is..."

Lin Lan paused, gazing at the boundless and gorgeous sea of flowers before him, and the giant layered wings adorned with the sea of flowers.

The white had been stained with magnificent colors.

"In your plan to kill the sun, ’Justice’ was ultimately polluted by Ouroboros into a part of ’nobility and beauty.’"

He sighed complexly: "It drove him insane."

Vera was lost in thought.

Every Giant Squad that landed on the Divine Kingdom was prepared to die, yet once the dust had settled, she didn’t know how to express the faint sorrow in her heart.

"Are you a god as well?"

Vera asked softly.

"I don’t think I am." Lin Lan shrugged.

What kind of god would be miserably hiding in a poor little town secretly growing?

Then, Lin Lan reached out his hand to her: "Come with me, Vera."

"The Eternal Fierce Sun has entrusted your souls to me, this is the only way to escape the historical trajectory."

He laughed: "Ota, Ansel, Sami have all prepared."

"Where to?" Vera asked somewhat fearfully, instinctively.

"To the future, where your help is needed." Lin Lan responded, opening his palm, a blank exquisite card appeared and floated forward.

The audience who did not exist in history made a summary: "Let us all bid farewell to this era together."

Vera instinctively cupped her hands, catching the small card, gradually her gaze became resolute again.

The mission of the Giant Squad was not yet over. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Vera clasped her hands, her body instantly transformed into a stream of light, completely imprinted on the card’s surface.

Like the butterfly of fate fluttered its wings.

The breeze plucked the petals from the giant’s carcass, the colors were swept toward the sky, from afar came the vaguely celebratory yet deranged laughter of an old man.

Lin Lan returned to the small camp and raised his head to look at the sunset in the sky once more.

He remained silent for quite a while.

During the giant squad’s transmission of coordinate signals via the base station, at the brink of Justice’s madness, the three ’people’ actually idly chatted for a long, long time.

Turns out gods are not as lofty as imagined, in fact, the Eternal Fierce Sun gives off a feeling more of being dull.

He would guzzle strong liquor at the incitement of the elderly Justice, only to comment ’it tastes awful,’ he would even pour out his grievances, lamenting that he has immense power, yet cannot save anyone.

Sunshine began flooding in eagerly.

In the gaze of Sean and the others, the Lord’s ’Sunshine Blessing’ in his hands suddenly burst forth with unprecedented brilliance!
