Apocalypse: Reborn with a Soul Sync Farming Space System-Chapter 89 Bloody Mist
[The worldroot tree barrier not only protects against meteor showers but also against any form of danger.]
Laurel let out a deep sigh. She needed to make sure the people were well distributed, and not to mention the mission... ’wait a minute.’
"System, this mission doesn’t have a deadline?" She asked, stunned.
[It does, but you have to figure it out. It is advisable not to take too much time before completing it, otherwise, all the progress you have made will be nullified.]
"You... you..." Laurel simmered with so much anger, that she was left speechless. How was she going to prepare if there was no fixed date? And basically, it was unfair as it could decide that the time was up anytime it wished.
...
Far away from the Valley, a five-star hotel with 60 floors that was once known as the most luxurious hotel in Luxebridge city, only accessible to wealthy men, now stood broken, with the top bending to the ground barely hanging from the rods still connecting to the other half.
Most of the glasses were shattered, and rods appeared like spikes in the bloody mist. Around it, abandoned cars filled the streets. Small fire still burned through the streets, most houses had collapsed leaving burnt steel and ashes in the air.
"Hahhahhaa." An eerie laughter tore through the air.
A man who appeared to be in his early forties, spread his arms wide, deeply inhaling the red mist.
His lips pulled up in pleasure as if he was living his best life. Then, his eyes opened slowly, his pupils dilated and the next second he banged his head into the car beside him repeatedly. Blood streamed down his face... However, the moment the red mist came into contact with his wound, it began festering.
A loud cry tore from his throat as he held his head. For the first time since he was in the mist, fear flashed through his eyes momentarily, and in the next seconds, his body went stiff.
Then, his body began twisting violently in an awkward position.
He jumped on his fours, and one of his pupils turned red, and the other remained brown. "Growl.." the animalistic sound rumbled deep from his throat.
He sniffed the air deeply, and his eyes fell on the two people laughing a few meters away from him hysterically.
One of them repeatedly shoved his stomach through a protruding glass. Blood poured from his wound but he kept on laughing until he gave up the ghost.
The other woman beside him repeatedly dragged her nails down her face, and she kept on doing it faster, her laugh growing louder.
Deep wounds formed on her face, but she wasn’t stopping, then, her movement stopped.
An animalistic growl rumbled through the air as the man with the red eye buried his head in her neck, ripping her flesh out forcefully. The woman kept laughing even when her body was going limp.
The man growled in satisfaction as he ripped a huge chunk of flesh.
Then the woman’s eyes went dull and her body fell on the ground.
Through the hazed view, many people turned into animalistic mutated beings, and they repeatedly hunted down the people who did not have their abilities.
One of the infected people glanced at the hotel, and a figure looking through the window immediately backed away, dropping the curtains.
"There is no way we can survive this... There is no way... no way." The man spiraled into a breakdown.
The woman standing by the door immediately felt her knees shaking.
Inside the room where the remaining survivors from the center of the city.
Ronan sat on the ground gulping down a bottle of alcohol. He had come to the hotel to enjoy his money after he had given half of it to Camile.
He still remembered their conversation and how Camile advised him to come to the refugee camp of the Severance cult, but he had foolishly refused claiming that the apocalypse wasn’t real.
Only now did he realize how stupid his decision was. They couldn’t step out into the mist, or they would die from pain like pleasure... that is if they don’t get eaten by the infected.
Ronan’s hands tightened around the bottle of alcohol... The remaining money on his card was as good as useless. The power in the city had gone out, and they could only rely on the torches from their cellphone.
"Stop drinking!" One of the men walked closer to him and yanked the bottle from his hand.
"Give it back... give it back," Ronan shouted as he struggled to get it back.
But the man suddenly punched his face, before grabbing him by the collar. "Listen to me Ronan, this is no longer the world where the Waynes ruled... if you don’t behave or if you do anything stupid that will jeopardise the group, I’ll personally throw you outside." The man barked at his face.
Ronan held his hand. "You... Clark, you, who is nothing more than a worker from the streets dares to hit me?!" Ronan’s eyes blazed with fury.
"Enough!" An authoritative voice cut through the air.
The man who had been sitting on the couch, finally stood up, his hands tucked into his pocket. His brown hair was short, but his gaze was fierce and unnerving. His black tailored suit made him appear unapproachable.
"No fighting amongst ourselves. Anyone who violates the rule will be thrown out." His voice cut through the air.
"And why do you think you get to call the shots?" Another man standing by the door said. His eyes narrowed on the man in suits.
"Because with me, you all get a chance to survive the apocalypse." He said walking towards the man by the door.
"As long as I am here, you don’t get to lead." The other man said, his hands moving toward the weapon on his waist.
However, before he could reach the weapon, the man in a suit grabbed his hand, and in the next second a gunshot echoed through the room.
The man by the door dropped to the ground with a wide eye.
The man in a suit turned around. "Any other person who thinks I shouldn’t lead?" He asked in a bored tone.
The people shifted back, and Ronan pushed Clark aside. No one uttered a word but everyone was curious about how a human could move with that kind of speed.
"From now on, address me as Don."
