Apocalypse system: I have unparallel comprehension-Chapter 42 - The rebellion
They didn’t stop when there was no sun in the sky. Shizuku simply conjured a light ball similar to Dante and led the group.
They stopped running when they saw the light coming from the direction they were going. The scout relaxed and Shizuku patted her head.
Dante looked at the castle in front of him with widened eyes. Now, he knew why they didn’t seem to be impressed with their village.
Compared to the small village, the castle was grand, almost like it came straight out from the movie.
It was built on top of the hilt, looming over them with its giant feature in the winter night.
Its towering walls were higher than what Thomas created. Snow clung onto the surface of the wall, making it glitter.
Two tall watchtowers beside the giant gate were imposing, as there seemed to be some kind of spell covering the entire castle.
Shizuku smiled at the three strangers and said.
"This is our base. Here you can trade with fellow people or buy the things you want."
Dante nodded. "Trade? You guys do trade?"
"We are not the oppressor like the Union. We leave the other group alone. And support them if they need our help. Trade is the best things that we can do in this situation. I believe a merchant will come in this week."
Dante nodded.
"I can’t believe Humans can adapt this fast." Julius said from beside.
"We think so." Shizuku said, shaking her head.
She seemed to be more relax. No everybody was relax around Dante’s group. It was obvious because they were now in the rebellion’s territory.
Shizuku tapped her watch and led the group to the gate.
Dante lifted up his head to see the top of the watch tower. He grinned as he saw the complex mana moving unde the wall.
Soon, it reached toward the gate and opened slowly.
"Come on in." Shizuku said.
The gate closed when they all entered inside. Dante saw many tents near the gate. They were man made and he knew that this didn’t came from the castle because of the rather poor craftsmanship.
"Here in the lower bailey, we make a trade center. Some people slept in here for some reason but we recommend to sleep in the castle as there were many rooms." Shizuku explained.
"Where do you guys make the watch or artifacts stuff?" Dante asked.
"In the underground chamber. Our artisan didn’t like to interact with people and chose that place."
"Really, I thought you guys kidnap him." Dante joked.
"He is a particular man." Shizuku said, not minding his unfunny joke. "I will guide you to the general area."
She turned to her group and said, "You guys can take a rest. I will give some order in the morning."
They all nodded and went to their respective areas. Dante saw the scout girl looking at him from afar.
Shizuku walked past the lower bailey and entered to the main bailey through the door.
"This place is used for training." She explained. She then pointed at the giant building in front of them.
"That is the main building, usually the important people lived there. The lower floors are make into hospital. The left building is our kitchen."
Dante noted. He saw that there were about 200 people living inside the castle. Strangely, he never once saw a child.
Either the rebellion practiced infant scarificed or the system didn’t want to drop the children to the tutorial.
"Is there any pregnant person?" Dante asked.
Her lips trembled and she shook her head. "The child inside the wound vanish."
"What? How?" Dante spoke his mind.
"I don’t know either. Because of that, some women loss their mind. We have three people inside our jail." She said, face filled with sadness.
Dante decided to not press further into the conversation as Julius grabbed his shoulder. He nodded at his blond haired friend.
They entered inside the main building and climbed the stairs. On the way, they met with a few guards.
Shizuku gave a nod and they left them.
After climbing up to 3 floor, Shizuku opened the door and led them to some kind of living room. She pointed at the chair and said.
"Wait here for now. I will go talk to my superior for further instructions."
Dante nodded.
Thomas went to the chair and sat down. Shizuku left them.
"This room is cold." Thomas said.
Julius looked around the room, his eyes landed on the closed window. "Someone must have close the window just now."
Dante went to the window and touched at the snow inside. He nodded, agreeing with Julius.
Thomas channeled fire mana into the air with a wave of his hands. Instantly, Dante felt the comfort level increasing.
He walked to the chair and also sat down. He looked at his friends and asked. "So what are we going to do?" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"I wanna check out their training." Julius said.
"Why?"
"I said their swordsmanship is bad right?" Julius said.
Dante nodded.
"Bad in a sense that they were trying to mimick other people style." Julius said. "I got a glimpse of that style and want to check it out."
"I see." Dante said, turned to Thomas. "What about you?"
"I don’t know. I am not that interested in this place. I think I will check the surroundings to hunt the monsters. I can’t stand this place." Thomas said. "Their mana control is disgusting."
Dante nodded. "Okay. But don’t drive further into the forest."
Shizuku arrived fast. She looked at Dante and said.
"The chief said he want to see you."
Dante pointed at himself and said. "Me?"
Shizuku nodded.
"What about us?" Julius said bluntly.
"The chief said you can use the room over there."
Julius frowned and was about to said something when Dante interrupted.
"Fine."
He then looked at Julius and smiled. "Relax. There is no traps."
"If you say so." Julius sighed and went to the stair. He gave a glance at Shizuku and said. "I will go to the main bailey to train my sword. I hope I can do that."
"Of course, the chief said to treat you all like a guest." Shizuku bowed.
Julius waved his hand and went downstairs.
Thomas on the other hand went to the room Shizuku pointed. He seemed to want to get a good sleep.
Dante nodded and said to Shizuku. "After you."
The chief room was upstairs in the left wing of the main building. She tapped the door and the voice immediately came.
"Come in."
Dante’s eyes widened as he felt familiar to the voice. His hands trembled and he felt dread coiled inside his stomach like snake. It toyed with his heart and mind.
Shizuku opened the door slowly. Dante glanced at the man inside the room.
The man gave him a welcoming smile and tossed a cup. He then waved to the chair and said.
"Come here, son."
Dante was frozen and stood still. He opened his mouth to speak but stopped himself when he didn’t find any words.
He slowly entered inside the room. He noted that Shizuku didn’t enter and instead closed the door behind him.
He sat on the chair and his father poured a glass of wine for him.
"This is a precious wine, I got from the trade last week. Have to pay 300 points for that. I was planning on using it on the meeting with the other faction but nothing is more important than a meeting with my son."
Dante frowned and grabbed the wine glass and sipped it. He tasted the alcohol and nodded. It was a really good wine. Too bad, he was a beer guy.
Julius would appreciate it more than him.
They drunk quitely.
Unable to withstand the silence, Dante asked.
"Why are you doing here, dad?"
"Just drinking with my son. You are not underage so we are good."
"I am not talking about this. I am talking about the rebellion stuff. Why are you in this business? I thought you despise them."
"Haha. No. It is more complicated then that."
