Chapter 67: Chapter 67- Prophecy

Silence echoed through the dark cave, rotten egg smell rotating wildingly inside. Dante waited for an answer.

Tendo sighed and returned a look, his eyes narrow and serious. "His profession is Cannibal."

For a brief moment, a disgust etched onto Dante’s face. He quickly shrugged off and pressed for more.

"Cannibal!? Did he eat someone?"

"I don’t know the details as I don’t see what happens but it is true. He is a cannibal." Tendo said in a low voice.

"I see." Dante muttered. He swung his arm with a low effort. "But I don’t think that has anything to do with me. Cannibalism is a bad thing but murder occurs almost daily here."

"He sure is a sick bastard." He ended.

Tendo gave a knowing look and spat to the ground. His calm and composed look now lost as a new conflicting feeling emerged.

He looked at his wrist. An old habit of his. Not seeing the familiar watch, he returned to the system and checked the time. After confirming the time, he decided to say it.

"Yeah, he is a sick bastard. But he is a powerful human. We are going to need his strength for the upcoming stage." Tendo said.

"Stage? Is the tutorial going to change?" Dante asked.

After a long pause, Tendo nodded. "A lot of people survived and the system didn’t like it. After a month, the system will force the monster tide."

Dante nodded, not sure what to respond to this reveal. But his theory of the system being sentient was getting stronger. Or at least it was controlled by something sentient.

"I am not afraid of the monster tide." Tendo said with a smile. His eyes lingered on his blade and shifted toward Dante.

"With my push, the two big groups are now stronger than before. They can defend themselves against the waves of monsters. A few people will die but such is life. Not everything is going to be perfect." Tendo smiled.

"Yeah. Not even I can achieve that perfect."

Suddenly, Dante felt the world mellowed as the color began softer as if it was disagreeing with what Tendo said.

Dante nodded slowly and let out a sigh. He had been wondering why Tendo stopped the Rebellion from destroying the Union. And right now, he couldn’t hold back his curiosity anymore.

He let out a fake cough to get Tendo’s attention.

"Why do you stop the Rebellion from attacking? I can see that you don’t like the Union." Dante asked.

"That is because without the Union, there will be a lot of dead people." Tendo said slowly.

"Can you explain that a little more?" Dante asked for more details.

Tendo nodded, deciding to trust Dante with the secret of his. He had been keeping his vision a secret for a long time.

He parted his lips and forced a sound.

"I have a prophecy." Tendo said. "I don’t know how to describe the thing I saw but it is definitely a prophecy. And it is a really grim one at that."

Dante didn’t react and instead he waited more.

Tendo stared at Dante and checked himself, patting his chest and face. After that, he let out a sigh.

"It is a relief." He muttered.

"What? What happened?" Dante said, confused by Tendo. He looked around, searching for something he didn’t know.

He felt like some divine being had looked over to his direction. A chill crept into his spine and Dante shivered uncontrollably.

Tendo nodded, this time more relaxed. The tension and barrier he put on before was now gone.

He patted Dante’s back and said. "I am glad you are the one."

Dante slapped away the hand and backed away for a few inches. "What! What is happening?" 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Tendo smiled. "Nothing. I am now certain that you are the one from my prophecy. The reason I don’t tell my prophecy is because if I say, something bad happened to the one who hears it."

"How?" Dante asked.

"They instantly exploded into a bloody mist."

"Explode!" Dante stood up and immediately checked himself. His mana flow was steady as well as his blood. The only thing abnormal was his heart, beating so fast that steam left from his ear.

"Realx, it is all good now. I just checked and you are good. I know at the start that you are safe with this information but I just want to make sure." Tendo smiled.

Dante sat back and eyed Tendo. He exhaled a breath and nodded.

"Okay. Can you tell me more about the prophecy? How did it come to you? What does the prophecy say?" Dante asked one question after another.

"Slow down. I will answer everything the best I can." Tendo said, waving his hand.

"After I arrived here, the vision came to me. I will skip the part where I was clueless about my surroundings and almost died because of that." Tendo smiled, flashing his white teeth.

He looked up and appeared to think for a brief moment. "I think the vision came before I even got the system interface. It was fast, almost like someone was in a hurry. The vision was like this."

"The world was submerged by darkness. It came from the abyss. I saw a blood Titan stomping at the humans. The ground was red. It was like a fantasy. Then, suddenly the light came." Tendo paused.

"It was not a good thing." His expression worsened. He let out a sigh. "The light consumed everything, the darkness, humans, Titan. Everything and spat out like a beast. And I saw myself holding the katana and swinging it."

"I don’t know the outcome of the battle but I can tell one thing." Tendo grasped his katana tightly. Sweat formed on his forehead and dropped down from his chisel chin.

"I can’t win against that light. I alone can’t win the fight." He said, emphasizing on the word alone.

"That is what you hoped for, right?" Dante said, seeing through Tendo’s lie.

Tendo smiled and chuckled. "Yeah. I am just hoping to change something."

"And where do I come in?"

"Oh I saw you helping me fight against that light. You and three other individuals." Tendo said.

"I want to know more about those three."

Tendo nodded. "The first is a blond haired man. He carried a longsword and displayed an impressive sword style."

Dante knew who Tendo was talking about but he didn’t interrupt and waited.

"The next person is a huge man towering over everything around him. I must say, he is the most impressive among you four." Tendo said. "And there is Ashar, a raging beast that kills everything around him. Even humans."

"What about me? What did you see me doing?" Dante asked, pointing at himself. He smiled.

"You are just standing there, holding a book. I think you are the type to command over something."

"That is lame."

Tendo shook his head. "There is nothing lame about that."

He paused and let out a sigh. "Since you are going to be in partnership with me. I think you need to know about something. I have confirmed my prophecy."

"What is this you want to talk to me about?" Dante asked.

"Is it about your mother?"

Dante froze, slowly lifting up his head. He stared at Tendo.

"I am sorry for informing you this late. I am just deciding." Tendo said, making a troubled expression.

"It is okay." Dante said coldly. "Continue."

"Your mother is dead."

"How did she die?"

"Someone killed her."

"Who?" It surprised him that he could retain his calm at this information. Maybe it was because his mind was still processing the information. His mother is dead.

"Who killed her, Tendo? Tell me."

"It is Ashar."

His brain stopped. It dropped everything and repeated the name of the strange young man. Repeatedly, his mind reminded him of that name.

Ashar. Ashar. Ashar. Ashar. Ashar.

It was as if time stopped. The world around him vanished and he entered a state of concertation. His mind replayed everything related about the young man.

Ashar. Ashar. Ashar. Ashar. Ashar.

His smile. His laughter. His carefree expression. His anger. The way he moved. His mana signature.

Dante then remembered something. Something he had been avoiding remembering.

His power. His class and profession.

"Cannibal. Cannibal." He repeated.

"I don’t know about that. I just knew that your mother was killed by him. My power allows me to look into the past of the person I fought with." Tendo explained. "The information came to me."

"I could be wrong, you know."

Dante shook his head. "No you are not. I have a familiar feeling from Ashar. At first he told me that it was from the side effects of his profession."

He clenched his hand. "Now I know. Ashar killed my mom and ate her. That is why his aura reminded me of my mom."

Dante slowly stood up.

Tendo followed. "What are you going to do? They are gone now."

Dante smiled. He knew the second reason why Tendo brought him here. It was so that he couldn’t pursue Ashar.
