Apocalypse system: I have unparallel comprehension-Chapter 69- Kale
Dante tossed the pebble and grabbed it. He imbued the pebble with a lot of mana carefully. The process was smooth. It had to. Otherwise, the pebble would be broken into pieces by his mana.
After that, he threw it in the second archer’s direction. At the same time, he covered his face with a black book.
The book melted and latched onto his face, it morphed and transformed into a mask.
He sighed and immediately dashed toward the first archer.
According to his observation, the archers had some kind of tracking skill.
He didn’t know what he used to track him but mana was the only thing that came to his mind.
’My mana reserve is about 45 percent left. I spend too much time observing my enemies.’
Dante remarked to himself.
’Focus. Focus.’ He reminded himself, bringing out his attention on the current situation.
’Huh! Why doesn’t he fire the arrow?’ Dante was puzzled but he wasn’t surprised.
He suspected this reaction from the archer but it was kind of disappointing. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
’Is he going to give up?’
No. After a small pause, the arrow fired out, travelling at a lightning fast speed. A Sonic boom exploded behind the trail.
Dante smirked. ’Got him.’
He burned mana inside his body and fueled the movement skill even more. His body blurred in a black shadow.
Dante couldn’t even keep up from his speed. He arrived in front of the archer and swung his cane with full force, carrying with momentum.
The cane hit the flesh, the metal part digging into the flesh. There was an awesome force in his hands.
It felt like Dante was dropping a hammer blow.
He couldn’t stop grinning as he watched the archer sent flying to the huge tree. He whistled but stopped midway.
A frown returned to his face as the scene unfolded before him was nothing like his vision.
The archer dissolved into the black shadow. He became a puddle.
Dante frowned and squinted his eyes, seeing the better look into the puddle. He saw mana and a faint outline of the soul.
There was also a strange energy he had never seen before. It wasn’t a concept but similar to one.
Dante jumped down and prepared to observe the puddle but he stopped.
Dante lifted up his head, looking at the tree brunch. There was a man standing, holding his bow, aiming at Dante.
Dante didn’t see the eyes of the archer but the aura he emitted was intense. There was intense hostility etched onto his aura. But it was also calm and smooth.
The archer dropped his bow and jumped down, landing on the ground softly.
The archer took off his mask. Dante as well.
It was the man Dante knew. It was Kale, the archer and scout from Ashar’s group.
Dante looked around, scanning his eyes at the surroundings.
"Where is the rest?" He asked.
Kale stared at him and nodded to himself. "They are gone. I stay here because I got a word from the Prodigy."
"I see." Dante murmured. "Did he say I am coming to take your boss’s head?"
Kale nodded. "Yeah. He also told me the reason."
Dante shrugged his shoulders. "So I don’t need to explain it to you."
"Do you want to? I am all ears." Kale said, his voice softened.
A surge of anger coiled inside Dante’s stomach. But he smiled and shook his head. "No. To be honest, I am just saying words right now. So what are we going to do? A fight."
"I don’t want a fight, Dante."
"Hey. Hey. Don’t lie." Dante waved his hands. "I know you want a fight. You just fired a shit ton of arrows at me. I might die from those arrows, you know."
Kale sighed. His hand tightened on his bow.
Closing his eyes, he exhaled a breath and looked at Dante. There was no trace of emotion inside those empty eyes.
It was like staring into the void, nothingness.
"I was a lawyer before all this." Kale said, lifting up his bow. "I don’t even know how to draw an arrow. Let alone killing someone. The first life I took was horrible. It haunts me even now."
Dante dropped the smile.
"I don’t want to depend on that horrible young man but he was the sole pillar for the Union. Without him, The Union can’t survive. The people under the Union will be torn into pieces by the other group."
"So I have to say, please stop your revenge. There were many families that would be destroyed if you killed that horrible young man." Kale said. "I am making sure that he gets the justice he deserves."
"The Union also controls Ashar’s impulse." Kale added, looking at Dante’s expression.
Dante sighed. He scratched his head and spat. He then kicked his lips and formed a dark smile.
"I don’t care."
Kale immediately lifted up his bow, materializing the arrow. He drew the arrow and aimed at Dante.
He fired.
The process was fast and smooth. Dante noticed a subtle control of Speed energy inside Kale’s movement.
Dante tilted his head, narrowly avoiding the arrow. His ear was busted by the sonic boom but he shrugged off.
He didn’t need the sound to locate his enemy.
"An impressive control." Dante said, smiling. It was a genuine smile.
He truly admired the control that Kale displayed. Dante and Kale fought before. It was a small quarrel and neither of them used their full power.
Kale was suppressing a lot of his power.
Every movement he made, every energy he used. There was no waste.
Dante tried to decrease the distance between him and Kale but it was no use.
"What is your class?" Dante asked, skillfully dodging the rain of arrows. He also fired a simple mana bolt which was easily dodged by Kale.
They both played in the white forest.
"We need to do something about it." Dante yelled out loud, his voice echoing in the forest.
"True." Kale replied, hiding behind the tree. He peeked out and fired an arrow.
"What happened to your other archer?" Dante asked, rolling to the side.
"I don’t know." Kale said.
Time passed.
Dante’s mana reserve was getting lower but he wasn’t worried. It was within his expectations.
Dante crouched down and gathered mana inside his palm. He used his concept to transform his mana into the energy he desired.
He was interrupted by Kale’s arrows but he wasn’t angry. After dodging and taking cover, he repeated the process again.
He knew that Kale was also plotting something.
This was not a race to see who had the most amount of mana. It was the race for how you can set up a trap.
Dante smiled and pressed his hand on the chest, feeling the hard pounding. He couldn’t stop the smile he was wearing.
It was exciting.
He wanted to refine himself, pushed himself to the highest peak of knowledge. He wanted to know how Kale manipulated mana. How did he use the energy?
He wanted to know everything. The hunger inside his mind roared.
A tingling warmth blossomed inside his heart.
"I am ready." Dante declared.
"I am also ready." Kale said, revealing himself from the white snow.
Dante walked forward in the center of their battlefield, playing with energy he created.
He morphed into the ball and flashed a warmth smile at it. Kale didn’t come and instead went to the black puddle.
He crouched down, touching the black water.
Dante saw the mana, energy and soul transferred into Kale.
He whistled.
"That is good." Dante said.
Kale nodded. He then stood up and pointed a finger at Dante.
"Fire." He murmured under a breath but Dante heard it loud and clear.
A heavenly cry emerged from the far distance area. Its loud sound pierced everything. The light created from the new phenomena was blinding.
Dante covered his eyes.
He sensed a vastness of mana in the incoming projectile. It was a ball of energy flying toward him.
"I have two main abilities." Kale said, for the first time revealing his power.
"My class is called Ethereal Hunter, the main focus of my class is to hunt or track the prey. I only have one skill, despite the class being an epic rarity."
"Do you want to know?" Kale asked.
Dante’s eyes widened, a shock ran through his spine. He forzed.
No. No. He needed to move. The range of the incoming projectile was huge. It was the size of the High Heaven’s cave.
He needed to move but he couldn’t. His heart was captivated by the reveal of Kale’s skill.
The ring on his hand was burning hot. Even that couldn’t break his attention.
Kale sighed. "You are crazy. Fine, my skill is called Ethereal mirage. A cool name right? The skill allows me to become intangible. The good side of the skill is the mana consumption was low and I can’t take any damage."
