Apocalypse system: I have unparallel comprehension-Chapter 74 - Core ability
Dante yawned and gave himself a good stretch. He kicked off the soft blanket and stood up. He faced the window and stared at the blue sky.
It was kinda depressing to look at the blue cave all the time. His mind was starting to get fed up. And he was only in the High Heaven’s base for one week.
He sighed and turned around, opening the door to the bathroom. It was attached to his room. How considerate of Tendo?
He was the VIP of this base and everyone around him also treated him as such.
Maybe the novelkiss he read does lie about that? He thought he would encounter arrogant people and had to prove his strength. But there was no such event.
To be honest, there were some who weren’t pleased with the way he got treated by Tendo. But they didn’t come at him with rudeness. And he proved them by sparing.
Ah, he didn’t use mana at all. Just pure hand to hand combat. That usually reveals a lot of things about a person. Like how they used their stamina, their technique and their situation awareness.
He pretty much defeated every single one here via cheating. He couldn’t help it since his eyes revealed pretty much everything. And he didn’t want to turn off his eyes, it had become a huge part of him.
Dante rubbed his eyes and looked at the mirror. His body was filled with scars. There was not a regular scar either. Some were like giant messes of flesh. Burned scars he got from tanking that energy blast.
No matter how much he healed, these messed up scars won’t go away.
Tendo said that was because he got the scar when he reached the peak stage of Tier 2. Which meant, he got hit when his body and soul aligned.
He stared at the mirror and ran through his hand across the scars on his chest. The scar followed across his chest to his left cheek.
"At least, I look cool." Dante sighed and washed his face
He didn’t take a shower this time as today was the day he was going to advance.
As usual, he arrived at the kitchen and ate the cold breakfast. He noticed Tendo sitting beside his seat and went there.
He grabbed a seat and sat down.
"Nervous?" Tendo asked, drinking his milk.
"I would be lying if I said I am not nervous. But I am more excited about the things I could do." Dante said.
Tendo didn’t tell him much about the power he got from Tier 3. He only said that it is different from individual.
Also he also hinted at the change he would experience in the system interface.
They both ate their breakfast and went upstairs to Tendo’s room.
They both played monopoly and Kage ended up winning by a huge margin.
"Hoho. It is too early for young folks to beat me in business."
"I managed the biggest company in the entire world."
"You just sign the papers given to you by your employee. Such things can’t compare to the experience you got from building your business from scratch." Kage said, styling his white hairs.
Dante laughed, seeing the two banters.
He reorganized the game and put it on the game shelf.
He nodded to himself and turned toward the two men.
"I think it is time." He said.
Tendo looked at him and gave a serious nod. "Alright. Kage."
The old man bowed and said. "Yes sir."
"Prepare the underground chamber." Tendo commanded.
Kage gave a graceful bow to the two men and left the room.
Tendo nodded in satisfaction and stood up. "Come on. I will show you the room I prepared for my important guest."
Dante smiled. "You know, I can see everything right?"
"Pervert."
"Not like that. I usually ignore such things." Dante said, punching Tendo’s arm.
They both followed Kage. But the old man was nowhere to be found. He just vanished in the air like a shadow.
They entered into the secret passage and arrived at the underground chamber. It was created with the power of one of the men from Tendo’s group.
Dante didn’t remember the name but he created the underground chamber.
The air was chill here. And there was no wind as well.
Dante looked around and saw Kage standing in the middle of the chamber. Beside him was a magic circle similar to the runic magic leveled humans used.
"So this is it."
"Yep." Tendo nodded, patting his shoulder.
Dante looked at the dark skinned man. "I should sit there and advance, right? Simple and easy."
"I have imbued a lot of mana into the runic circle. They should aid you in your advancement. Don’t waste time anymore. Go." Tendo pushed Dante.
Dante went inside the magic circle and sat down. He relaxed his shoulder and breathed out.
He closed his eyes and peered into his body. His soul. His mana core. Everything fell into his eyes. With his mana manipulation, he could control everything.
Slowly, the world around him faded to whiteness.
Walls vanishing. Fading.
His mind was drifting across a vast sea of soul. He was truly alone. There were no eyes staring at him. Anymore.
He was truly alone.
It was bliss. Truly.
Then came a vibration, deep inside the soul of his. It was echoing the movement of his mana core. The echo of his mana core collided with his soul and enveloped everything.
Overwhelming his senses.
He felt the highest peak of pleasure. His mind was escaping.
Something was pouring inside him.
Knowledge about his core technique.
He coughed out.
***
Time passed.
When he opened his eyes, he was alone. Sitting inside the chamber, his body was wet with sweat.
He inhaled fresh air and immediately pinched his nose. The stench emitting from his body was unbearable. It was a mix of animal waste and decomposing corpses.
He took off his clothes and threw them to the side. He looked down at his body.
There were black marks all over his body. He rubbed his finger.
Yeah, he was sure. This was the source of the stench.
He noticed the magic rune underneath his butt. It didn’t activate when he was undergoing advancement.
"Did Tendo lie?" He murmured and channeled mana into the rune intentionally.
The rune suddenly glowed bright blue, blinding his eyes. It enveloped his entire body.
Soft slime covered his body, eating away waste. After the process, he felt clean like a fresh baby popped out of a womb.
"Woah. That is impressive magic." He crouched down and studied the rune.
His eyes flashed and information about the rune entered straight to his eyes. He comprehended the meaning behind the rune fast.
It surprised him so great that he stumbled back and landed on his butt.
His eyes widened.
He immediately called out the system and saw the change Tendo was talking about.
Everything about his system changed. Even stuff like interfaces. The usual monotone blue screen was gone. Replaced by a colorless screen. It was like the words were written into the world.
It intertwined with it. There was no such thing as separation anymore.
He ignored the new interface and read the content.
[Name - Dante.]
[Tier - Tier 2.]
[Bloodline - Sage beyond the end.]
[Core ability - Bubble.]
"Huh?" Dante exclaimed. "Where is my skill? And shop?"
He scanned across everything and didn’t find anything.
"Is my system broken?" He poked at the system and didn’t sense anything wrong with it.
He inhaled a breath and heard some footsteps getting close to his direction. He looked up and saw a familiar face.
"How is your advancement?" Tendo asked, leaning on the wall.
"It is underwhelming. And my system changed alot."
Tendo looked up and asked. "How?"
"There are no such things as skills anymore. Instead, I have a core ability. I didn’t know what this was."
Tendo nodded. "I see. It is similar to mine. My core ability is Supreme Heaven. I experienced and found that my ability allowed me to take one step further than my opponent."
Dante squinted his eyes. "So, if your opponent is level 20 then you can reach level 21."
"Bingo." Tendo snapped his finger. "But I can increase the steps more than that."
"That is a stupidly powerful power."
"It is because I am special. I am sure you also got your super powerful ability." Tendo smiled. "Oh and you can still use your old skill. It is just that they are not registered anymore."
"I know. I can still use my eyes." Dante said. He stood up and felt the mana inside his body.
It was abundant. It was like his entire body can be used to store mana. His mana manipulation skill also increased.
No. He was a little wrong. It was not that his ability increased. It is just the world around him softened, allowing him to shape natural mana more easily.
"Let’s see the extent of my mana." He opened his palm and channeled mana.
"Wait. Wait. Don’t do it here. Test it outside."
