Chapter 175: Wrong

One of the men standing behind Jack suddenly stepped forward slightly.

"Let’s attack them," he said with a harsh voice. "They’ll only hinder our progress."

Several others immediately agreed.

"Yes. Red will not like it when he finds out another group is here."

"If we let them live, they’ll keep clearing the dungeon and take the rewards."

"When Red learns about it, we’ll be the ones that he punished!"

The murmurs quickly grew louder. More people began speaking.

"We should kill them now."

"There are only nine of them."

"We outnumber them."

The tension that had filled the battlefield suddenly turned violent.

The survivors behind Jack slowly tightened their grips on their weapons. Their earlier fear began turning into hostility after seeing Myle’s group number.

They were tired, exhausted, and mentally strained. And now they had found a target for their frustration.

Myles sighed quietly.

Behind him, Victor slowly lifted his large greenish cleaver and rested it against his shoulder.

"This is not a good idea to talk to them apparently," Victor said with a faint grin.

George folded his arms and looked toward the opposing group with a grim expression. His hammer rested on the ground.

"I told you," he muttered. "I already saw where this was going."

Despite the situation, Myles’ and his friends did not panic. Their posture remained steady. Their weapons were ready, but their expressions stayed calm.

The difference between the two groups was obvious.

Jack’s group looked tense and unstable, driven by fear and desperation.

Myles’ group looked composed and prepared. Even though they were fewer in number.

A few steps behind them, Lilian stood quietly as she always did.

She watched the situation unfold with an indifferent expression. Her eyes swept across Jack’s group, and thought that they were pathetic.

That was the only word that came to her mind.

Their fear was obvious. Their minds were unstable. Panic had already taken hold of them.

From the moment the rift opened, their thoughts had already collapsed into chaos.

At this point, Lilian could clearly see which side held the real advantage.

Myles slowly looked at Jack again. His expression turned cold.

"You really want to fight?" he asked.

Jack stared back at him.

Behind him, the voices of his men continued.

"Kill them."

"They’re enemies."

"We can’t let them leave alive!"

The words echoed repeatedly in his mind.

Jack clenched his jaw. He didn’t want to face Red’s anger. Red had been clear when he sent them here that the trial dungeon was meant to strengthen their group. No outsiders were supposed to benefit from it.

If Red discovered that another group had been clearing the dungeon as well, the punishment would fall on them, even when it actually wasn’t their fault. But Red wouldn’t care about that.

There was only one way to avoid that. Kill them.

Jack slowly turned his head toward the people behind him.

Nineteen men and women looked back at him. Waiting. Their eyes were filled with expectation and tension.

Jack took a slow breath. Then he gave a small nod. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

That single gesture was enough. The nineteen warriors immediately tightened their grips on their weapons.

Their stances shifted into battle positions.

The air grew heavy with killing intent. Across from them, Myles let out another quiet sigh.

He turned slightly and looked back at his companions. No one needed to say anything because they all understood that there was no other outcome now.

Myles’ group slowly readied their weapons.

The battlefield fell silent once again. But this time, the silence was filled with tension.

For a single moment, both sides remained still.

Then Jack moved and shouted, "ATTACK THEM!"

His shout shattered the tense silence.

Jack rushed forward without hesitation. The sword in his hand glowed as Ether surged into it. The weapon was not ordinary. It was a magical weapon Red had given him before sending them into the dungeon.

Jack pointed the blade forward. A bright flash erupted from the sword. A bolt of lightning burst out and tore across the battlefield toward Myles’ group.

At the same moment, the others behind Jack launched their attacks as well.

Several raised their weapons and activated their skills. Flames surged forward. Blades of wind shot through the air. Arcs of Ether energy followed the lightning as they rushed toward Myles and the others.

The attacks came fast and chaotic.

But Myles’ group moved the instant the attacks were released.

Their bodies reacted with incredible speed. Their heightened stats made their movements sharp and precise.

Myles stepped to the side just as the lightning bolt ripped past him, leaving a trail of scorched grass in its wake.

Victor shifted his massive body with surprising agility despite carrying that large cleaver, letting a stream of fire crash into the ground where he had stood a moment earlier.

George pulled his hammer back and stepped away as a blade of wind sliced through the air in front of him.

The magical attacks struck the battlefield instead.

Lightning scorched the ground. Flames burned across the grass. Ether blasts tore through the soil and scattered dirt in every direction.

But not a single attack landed on Myles or any of his companions.

They had already moved.

In the next instant, they counterattacked.

Ethan stepped forward and raised his twin pistols. His eyes narrowed as he aimed.

Then he fired.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

Sharp bursts echoed across the battlefield as Ether bullets shot out from his weapons in rapid succession.

At the same time, Samantha pulled her bowstring back.

Her movements were smooth and practiced.

She released her arrows.

SWISH!

SWISH!

SWISH!

Ether arrows cut through the air with terrifying speed.

The projectiles moved with deadly precision.

The first bullet pierced a man’s chest before he even realized he had been targeted.

Another bullet struck a woman in the throat.

Samantha’s arrows followed right behind.

One arrow drove straight into a warrior’s eye and another arrow pierced through someone’s shoulder and lodged deep into his chest.

The distance between the two groups had barely closed yet people in Jack’s formation began collapsing one after another.

Some died instantly. Some fell to the ground screaming before going silent.

The battlefield turned chaotic.

In only a few seconds, several members of Jack’s group were already lying motionless on the grass.

Jack’s eyes widened. Shock rushed through him as he watched his people fall. These survivors... were not weak.

Not even close.

Only then did Jack realize something he should have noticed from the beginning.

Myles’ group wasn’t as weak as he thought.
