Apocalypse: Zombie King is the Female Lead's Younger Sister-Chapter 256: Who Else Remembers?
She was really excited. Now, she understood why Cassias had reacted like that. It was because he was trying to eject her parents out of his inner space.
He must have sensed they were in a relatively safe place now. She made sure he was alright before she focused on her parents.
When she scanned her space, the little dragon cub was snoring lightly, but there were faint blood marks on each of his wings. She used her wood power on him and put the little dragon in a basin of spring water before she went to check on her parents.
Eh? She titled her head in a puzzlement. Cassias must have put her parents under the cover of a blanket.
The mound on seemed to be a little smaller for humans, right? Her heart skipped a beat. She hurriedly approached them and pulled the blanket.
W-what is this?
Her eyes widened. On the bed, there were two fluffy foxes, like clouds. Even if she were reborn thousands of times, she wouldn’t forget her parents’ majestic fox forms!
"Mom, Dad!" She let out a few yips in bewilderment.
As it turned out, they weren’t only her parents in the Celestial Realm, but in this reincarnation too...?
No. She immediately corrected herself. Her parents’ personality had changed greatly after the apocalypse started.
Did they take over the bodies of her parents in this world? If that was the case, where were the original souls of these bodies? She had a lot of questions. Alas, she didn’t have the time to ponder on them too deeply.
Once her parents woke up, she would definitely receive the answers then.
She bounced toward them, circling the pair of white foxes snuggling to each other. Her mom resembled the fox in Cassias’ memory, with pinkish tips. Just less noticeable compared to that one.
"Mom, Dad!" She called out anxiously. If it was before, she would definitely jump on them, join the snuggling and burrow herself in the middle. Now, she couldn’t do that.
She was afraid she might touch their wounds or something.
There should be an area in Cassias’ space where the time was stagnant, otherwise with their current mortal bodies, her parents might not have survived without food until now.
She could still manage because the whale had helped to feed her once a while...
On the other hand, her parents had no one to feed them. Now that they were out of Cassias’ space, she had to feed them too.
Her paws poked her parents’ tails carefully, and she sat beside them. She scanned their bodies. There was not a single wound, even on her mom’s body.
She just wasn’t sure whether they would have wounds once they went back to their human forms. She believed they shouldn’t have one.
Thinking about it... it was so magical how her celestial parents were now here. Even until now, she couldn’t wrap her head around it. This isn’t a dream, right?
She pinched her cheeks, and it hurt! She wasn’t dreaming.
But... why were her parents still unconscious even until now? She detected no wounds.
Zerra circled her parents for a few minutes, a little scared yet excited. Since they were here, it meant that she wouldn’t be trapped in an endless loop of reincarnations again.
She laid down beside them and slept. The first relaxing sleep she had since she fell into the ocean.
A few hours later, she woke up again. The night hadn’t ended yet. She almost jumped when she saw a familiar fluffy white mound on the bed. What had happened a few hours ago rushed to her brain.
She licked her paw and inspected her parents again. There was no sign of them waking up. She poked her dad, then her mother. She poked them endlessly, yet they didn’t even stir.
Until she noticed something and froze. "Eh, Mom, are you injured?"
There was a red mark on the fox’s hind leg. Zerra trotted toward her leg, examining it anxiously. It was the exact location of her injury before the sinkhole sucked her.
As for her dad... she also noticed some bruises beneath his thick fur. In fact, now both of them revealed bruises. Zerra took a deep breath and started to heal them with her wood ability.
The bruises became more faint, and the relatively bigger wounds scabbed over.
After she was finished, she laid beside them in exhaustion. She almost fell asleep if not for something licking her.
She abruptly opened her eyes in fright. When she saw who it was, she heaved a sigh of relief. "What are you doing..." she paused. "How do you feel?"
She flipped the little dragon over, inspecting his wings. The dragon cub tilted his head as if he was oblivious. He merely let out a few excited roars, jumping to the bed and stared at the pair of white fox curiously.
Zerra was originally worried, but the dragon cub was actually very sensible this time. He didn’t make trouble, merely circling them curiously.
She suddenly remembered something. "Is the tiger and the baby tiger still inside your inner space?"
It had been a long time since she saw them. Last time, Cassias had put them inside his space. Her heart was rather conflicted. Now, she was somewhat convinced that the tiger was actually Nias after she saw her parents.
There was Cassias, her fox parents, and even Nyra. It wasn’t impossible for her to be here too.
The dragon cub, however, merely blinked at her and didn’t answer. He let out a few soft roars before running toward her, disappearing into her inner space.
She had to forcefully take him out again. As she channelled the wood power into him, she repeated her question. "Is the tiger and the baby tiger still inside your inner space?"
The dragon cub rubbed himself on her. She wasn’t coaxed. Instead, she narrowed her eyes thoughtfully.
He blinked and let out a defeated roar, stomping on the bed. Zerra thought it was just his childish tantrum. She watched helplessly as the baby dragon once again entered the space.
Her mind drifted to Nias’ figure, worrying for her. She already had a cub, so she wondered whether she had that little thing during her time in the celestial realm or this world.
Her eyebrows furrowed at the thought. Judging from the way she acted until now, Nias didn’t seem to remember anything about the celestial realm memory.
Maybe most of them didn’t remember. Or... did they try to hide it from her? If that was the case, their act had been quite flawless except for her small suspicions.
She suddenly felt someone licking her again. "Don’t–"
The words were stuck in her throat. This time, her entire face was wet. It wasn’t something that a small baby dragon could do.
"Mom!" She subconsciously shouted.
It was the tiger. And the tiger cub was playing with her hand, biting playfully.
Cassias had let them out.
"Wait," she told them. Shifting into a fox form, she circled both of them, examining carefully for any sign of injuries. Thankfully, they seemed to be well.
She even thought that the tiger had gotten bigger than before. Half the room had been occupied by her.
"How are you two doing?" She asked. The tiger let out some roars, signalling they were alright. Of course, she knew that.
Zerra was just a little nervous. She didn’t know how to open the conversation, and could begin with simple questions. After a while, silence settled in the room, and the tiger kept on rubbing herself on her.
In the end, she gritted her teeth and asked, "Are you... Nias?"
The tiger paused. She blinked, but didn’t give her an answer. There was a confused look on her face.
Zerra became a little braver and repeated the question. She saw the tiger sit down, grooming her cub while revealing a thoughtful expression. Once a while, she would throw the little cub to the bed, making the little one let out small roars in excitement.
The tiger didn’t answer her even until morning came.
By then, Jasmine and Collin were already knocking on her door. They did it carefully as if worried they were going to attract zombies outside.
Zerra had no choice but to stuff her parents, and the mother tiger and cub pair inside her inner space. She opened the door.
"Miss, there seems to be zombies gathering outside." Jasmine swallowed. Her gaze flitted to the window but did not dare to open it.
"It’s fine." Zerra pursed her lips. They were really some zombies outside. "You all prepare. We are going out today."
Jasmine and Collin exchanged glances. She was about to open her mouth, but ultimately she closed it again.
The place was small, but it had its own kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. Zerra cleaned herself and waited for the other two to finish their turn.
After they were done with their preparation, Zerra warned them. "Get ready to fight."
Her figure shot toward the door, and they heard the sounds of fighting. There were five zombies outside. They were solved very quickly by the three of them.
"Now, you can tell me about your story." Zerra suddenly said. "Do that as we walk."
