Apocalyptic Beastworld: A Farming Space Dimension to Another World-Chapter 82: Persistent Little One
Su Yining was utterly speechless, not understanding how the black pot had landed on her!
"Is this your cat?" The beer-bellied uncle asked again, this time more aggressively.
She snapped out of her daze and hurriedly shook her head. "It’s not my cat."
Although she said that, the next scene really refreshed her understanding about cats. The black cat meowed incessantly at her, soft and gentle. It even rubbed against her neck and chin.
When she tried to catch it, the cat nimbly evaded with ease, looking as if it was a pet who was playing around with its owner.
Su Yining: ...
The beer-bellied uncle’s nostrils flared. He glared at her, putting his hands on his hips. "This cat is always hissing at everyone who is trying to pet it, but it looks so comfortable around you. Are you still not going to admit that this cat is yours?"
"It’s clearly a well-groomed cat. Just look at its smooth fur. Young woman, I know that this cat eats a lot, but you shouldn’t have let it run amok outside and destroy other people’s business. It has eaten so many of my goods and messed up my stall. How can I feed my family if this continues?"
The beer-bellied uncle said everything in one breath, showing how frustrated and annoyed he was.
The cat, however, didn’t care. It was just busy licking its paws, occasionally meowing, and rubbing its head against her.
No matter how she tried to shake it off her shoulder and catch it, she couldn’t. The cat always knew how to get away from her incoming hands.
Some people began to cast strange glances at them. Helpless, she could only take this big, round black pot and faced it head on. "Then, Uncle, what do you want me to do?"
"This cat has destroyed my stalls a few times, but I will just charge you for the goods it destroyed today, how about it?" He snorted.
She felt a pinch, but looking at the beer-bellied uncle’s disheveled clothes and his frustrated face, she finally relented. He also didn’t seem to have it easy.
"Alright, I will pay for the damage this cat had caused," she sighed, resigned to her fate.
Lately, why has she fallen into bad luck again and again?
She transferred some money to the beer-bellied uncle. Before he left, he still gave her advice, "keep your little cat inside your home and don’t let it run around outside. Next time, it might be other people’s stalls."
Even if the cat wasn’t hers, she still nodded in order to appease him.
Not long after, the beer-bellied uncle completely left. Su Yining trained her eyes on the bus stop again; all the people had gone. She subconsciously heaved a sigh of relief.
This time, she finally managed to catch the unsuspecting cat as it was licking its claws again. She put it down, shaking her head. "There, no one is chasing you anymore. Now, go."
She clutched her bag tighter and walked away, afraid she might meet that peculiar old man again.
However, she didn’t meet him, but the young man from weeks ago. It was quite puzzling. There was another lady going toward the bus stop but he no longer reminded her.
"Excuse me," she waved her hand. "I was here weeks ago and you warned me about the old man. I want to thank you for it."
She glanced at the lady standing at the bus stop and hesitated. "Is it already safe now?"
The young man nodded his head. "Everyone around here knows that the old man sometimes goes crazy and would hit or bite people out of nowhere, but he passed away some days ago."
"So, it’s safe if you want to use the bus stop," he added.
She wondered why they didn’t report him to the authorities, but it wasn’t her business, so she didn’t ask. Just as she was about to walk away, the man called again. "Miss, you forgot your cat."
Su Yining was taken aback and subconsciously looked down. On her feet, she saw a kitten playfully trotted to her. She almost went bankrupt because of this little one; why did it still insist on following her?
"It’s not my cat!" She told the young man loudly before sprinting off, scared that he might recognize the troublesome cat and she will have some more people to collect debts from her because of this kitten.
When she thought she had arrived at a safe distance, she stopped, panting. She wiped her face and took a brief rest before she continued to walk toward her new home.
Along the way, her mind was filled with puzzlement at the old man’s abrupt death. But judging from his appearance, he indeed looked sickly. It was just that his eyes looked creepy, and his expression was somewhat... feral.
The moment she arrived home, she checked on her potted plant again, flipping it around and made sure the leaves were clean and glossy.
Once she did so, she calmed down. This Devil’s Ivy also purified her mind. They were the kind of plant that prefer dry soil rather than a soggy one, so she didn’t water it often.
She took out her phone, wanting to continue her conversation with Yuanyuan that had been previously interrupted. However, a loud meowing from the window caught her attention.
Is she hallucinating? She wondered.
Soon, she found out that she hadn’t.
A pair of small paws climbed to the windowsill, and not long after, its entire body was finally revealed. The little kitten revealed its pink paw pads toward her, as if it was waving.
It meowed softly, a voice that could melt anyone’s heart. Including Su Yining’s.
She quickly got up and walked over, ended up playing with the kitten.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Xie Ziyuan stared at the letter with narrowed eyes. His gaze deepened.
Bus stop?
It wasn’t something that should exist in the apocalyptic era anymore. Instead, it sounded like something that came from civilization hundreds of years ago.
Was she playing with him, or...
