Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies-Chapter 216: Jiang Haidai’s bravery
Bai Meiyue had no plans to help Jiang Haidai. If she could survive then Bai Meiyue would let her take her son away; if the woman died fighting the zombies, then she would raise the boy, taking him as the son of a friend. Anyway, she didn’t lack supplies; she could afford to raise a few more mouths.
What she couldn’t raise were freeloaders.
Inside the buildings, Jiang Haidai looked at the three zombies that were lingering outside and paused while clutching the panga in her hands. She was terrified at the sight of the monsters that were scratching and banging on the glass doors. She didn’t know what to do; however, she didn’t get the chance to plan her next move.
Because the next second, two zombies rushed out from the basement and charged right at her.
"AH!" Jiang Haidai screamed in terror. She hadn’t expected such a thing to happen; her eyes popped out of her sockets and she swung the panga in her hands desperately. But she had no technique and no skills; the swinging of her machete could take down humans but zombies felt no pain.
Even when she made countless cuts on the skin of the zombies, they still continued to attack her.
One of the zombies attacked Jiang Haidai and pushed her on the ground.
Startled, Jiang Haidai covered her stomach and cushioned her fall to protect her unborn child.
However, the zombie sensed her distractions and opened its mouth to bite Jiang Haidai; however, when Jiang Haidai saw the zombie’s jagged teeth coming closer, she raised the panga in her hands and started chopping the head of the monster.
"Uh," Jiang Haidai groaned when the rotten flesh and blood started to drip on her face and clothes; she wanted to vomit but stopped herself. Now that she had come this far, she couldn’t lose her life.
Earlier, when she was rushing downstairs, she saw Bai Meiyue smashing the heads of these things open.
Once the heads of the zombies burst open, they stopped moving. Jiang Haidai wasn’t smart but she was not foolish either. After watching Bai Meiyue kill the zombies, she understood that cutting the heads of these monsters could kill them.
Though the thought alone was enough to scare Jiang Haidai, she didn’t want to die and leave her son behind in the hands of strangers. She was worried that if she died, then her son would live a hard life and this unborn child, what wrong had he done to die in such a pitiful manner?
Jiang Haidai suppressed her nausea and raised the panga in her hands to cut down the zombie’s head.

However, Jiang Haidai had been starved by the Meng family for years.
They only gave her enough to stay alive and she was severely malnourished. She couldn’t muster much strength, even though the zombies didn’t have any abnormal strength and were just as strong as an average human.
The zombie pushed his mouth closer to Jiang Haidai, seeing the ugly face coming close Jiang Haidai stiffened. She opened her mouth to ask for help but she couldn’t make a sound. She looked at the glass door where Bai Meiyue was busy dealing with the Level One zombie.
Her gaze drifted to the rest of the people but no one was paying attention to her, a weak woman who was almost squashed to death by the zombies and was about to be bitten. No one was going to help her.
"Should we help her?" Lu Yin asked when she saw the woman fighting for her life. It wasn’t that she was suddenly filled with a feeling of justice and fairness. She just saw herself in Jiang Haidai.
If one day she was caught up in the same situation as Jiang Haidai, she wanted someone to come and save her and not leave her alone to die!
However, just as she finished speaking, Meng Guo let out a loud cry.
"Mommy! I want Mommy!"
And Jiang Haidai, who was about to be bitten to death by the zombies, swung her panga left and right. She started cutting through the heads of the zombies desperately. If she couldn’t kill them, she would beat them with the flat side of the machete. Your next read is at novelbuddy
Under her desperate beating, the zombies were pushed back.
These normal zombies didn’t have much IQ to begin with; they only knew how to scratch and bite. Thus, in the face of Jiang Haidai’s desperate struggle, they simply pounced and tried to scratch and push her down.
Soon, Jiang Haidai was covered in all kinds of wounds and scratches. However, Jiang Haidai was not deterred. With the cries of her son becoming louder and louder, the speed of her panga also increased.
Jiang Haidai raised her foot and hooked it behind the rotting leg of the zombie that was trying to push her down. She pulled it hard and watched the zombie fall flat on the surface of the ground floor.
However, she didn’t wait to watch the zombie struggle. She swung the machete at the other zombie and pushed it away before running out of the building but before leaving, she didn’t forget to lock the doors of the building and lock the zombies inside with the rest of the residents.
Jiang Haidai knew that she was being cruel but nothing was more important than her child. She turned to look at Meng Guo, who was in Lei Qian’s arms and rushed forward.
"Baby, mommy is here! Mom’s here."
Jiang Haidai took her son from Lei Qian and hugged him tightly.
Meng Guo was a fool in the eyes of the Meng family but he was her darling son. She was able to survive these past few years by relying on the little warmth that her son brought her.
She didn’t care about her bleeding scars and the many wounds that were covering her from head to toe. She hugged and kissed her little son’s face, glad that he was safe and sound.
If something happened to Meng Guo, she would have never been able to forgive herself.
"Watch out!"
