Bai Meiyue, of course, sensed that the little thing didn't want to tell her anything and didn't push it either. She simply patted the little pup on the head and then went to sleep. Since Ciyi didn't want to tell her, she wouldn't corner her either.

However, just as she left Citi alone, Bai Meiyue hoped that her mother would leave her alone, too. The next morning, when she woke up and went to the kitchen after freshening up, she saw her mother sitting at the dining table and peeling the peas that she had freshly harvested in the morning.

As soon as her mother saw Bai Meiyue stepping down the staircase, she asked, "Did you tell Ah Qian about it?"

"Hmm," Bai Meiyue was still half asleep when she heard the words of her mother; she stupidly blinked at her mother, who glared at her with a look of annoyance on her face. Seeing that her mother's temper was about to flare up, Bai Meiyue immediately said, "Mom, it's not that I didn't want to tell him, but Master Lei told me that he is going to look for his grandparents. I don't want to worry him with the matter of the child."

"You know how dangerous it is, don't you, Mom? What if he gets distracted and gets injured? Then your grandchild will never see his or her father."

"Pei, pei, pei!" Mother Bai spat three times. She then raised her head and flared her nostrils before saying to Bai Meiyue, "What kind of nonsense are you saying? Do you think that you should be saying such a thing about the man who has fathered your child?"

She then paused and threw the peas in the bowl before saying to Bai Meiyue, "You need to hurry. If this goes on, then you will be in trouble. I think it's been three months already, right? You will not be able to hide your belly any longer. While we will support you all the way, Ah Qian also needs to do his duties."

"Don't underestimate the need for a supportive man. When you are pregnant, more than proper nutrition, you need a partner who will help you out through your troubles."

Bai Meiyue pursed her lips because she knew that, as harsh as it sounded, her mother was telling the truth to her. In her past life, she did suffer from depression while taking care of everything on her own. Though she loved her son, there were times when she simply thought that she must have done something wrong to suffer like that.

Maybe if she had someone by her side, her condition would have been a bit better?

"I got it; I will try to talk to him," Bai Meiyue replied in a perfunctory manner. She knew that her mother was only looking out for her, but Bai Meiyue felt that her mother was being too interfering; she was treating her as a little kid who couldn't even look after herself.

Though she knew that her mother was only making up for the time that they had lost, Bai Meiyue thought it was too late for that.

She was no longer a child who needed her mother to watch out for her.

Not wanting to listen to her mother's nagging, Bai Meiyue finished her meal as fast as she could. However, the entire time, she had to listen to how she needed to be quick when it came to such matters. Bai Meiyue was so tired by the time she finished the last morsel of food that she was about to bleed from her ears.

"Mom, I will go and check up on the Meng siblings." Bai Meiyue finished speaking as she got to her feet and then ran upstairs without saying anything more. She could no longer listen to her mother's continuous nagging.

When Mother Bai saw that her daughter was running upstairs, her heart jumped to her throat. She yelled after Bai Meiyue, "What are you doing? How can you run around like that? Watch out. Look where you are running."

In the living room, Mother Bai supported her head with a worried look on her face. She could feel her heart beating wildly as she stared at her daughter, who was still acting recklessly even though she was going to become a mother very soon. If this went on, she was worried that Bai Meiyue would end up causing trouble for herself.

Looking at her daughter jumping around, her heart was about to jump out of her throat. If not for the fact that she couldn't tie her daughter to the bed, she would have done it by now.

"What's the matter?" Bai Jixuan stepped out of his room and peered at his mother, who was holding her head with a troubled look on her face. "Why are you scolding Yueyue?"

He looked at his mother, who was holding her forehead and questioned, "What is it? Is your head hurting?"

"Of course it is!" Mother Bai threw the last of the peas in the bowl, which scattered all over the table. She let out an irritable sigh and bent down to pick them up; however, just as she raised her head, she ended up hitting the back of her head with the underside of the table.

"Ahhh! I really owe you three something. Don't I? If not, why would I give birth to you troublemakers?"

Mother Bai stood up and started cursing angrily. "How am I supposed to live? Do you all make me worry all day long? You cannot sit still, and your elder brother is simply too naive to be left alone. And Yueyue—" She stopped speaking, which only made Bai Zhan and Bai Jixuan furrow their brows.

"What happened? What about Yueyue?" Bai Zhan asked.

He knew his mother; she was a typical mother who, once she started scolding her children, would never stop unless she had let out all of her steam. But something about her scolding was different tonight, which made Bai Zhan really curious. Why was his mother scolding Bai Meiyue when she had never done it in the past?
