Chapter 447: Right romance, wrong place.

Ferry island, edge of Westbrook Town.

"Are you seeing this shit?" Renzo Ricci asked, glaring at his cousin Stefano, a very big man who had happened to awaken super strength. A man who was not so bright but good to have as back up in a fight.

Stefano lifted the binoculars, focusing on the pink absurdity that separated Babel city into two. It covered all the smaller and medium sized towns on the outside of the city.

Only two major towns or counties were outside the bubble. Kingsbridge and Ferry Island.

"What the hell is that?" Renzo spat the gum he had been chewing from his mouth. "I don’t like this at all. Is it some kind of new mist shit?"

Stefano was not the sharpest mind around but he knew that was not mist. It looked like a giant bubble. And that was not the problem, in his opinion. The armed soldiers, superhumans and rising wall was a bigger problem. "Have you seen their guns? I have never seen anything like that. I am not a betting man, but I will bet everything I have on all these towns having been claimed as a single territory."

"Vicente is not going to like this shit at all." Renzo said, shaking his head.

Vicente was their older cousin, a superhuman who had the ability to wander in all toxic places without being harmed. He could breathe in poison and breathe it out.

He was running all of Ferry Island and he was planning to take Westbrook and all the other small towns and merge them into his territory.

He had been gone for over a month, traveling with a group of superhumans into mist in search of special herbs, food and other resources.

"Unless he is dead." Stefano said slowly. "He has been gone longer than usual."

Renzo refused to believe that there was such a possibility. "Nothing can kill Vicente, not even the mist. And when he returns, he will figure out what this shit is." He took a lighter from his pocket and lit a cigarette.

His cousin had promised him the territory of Westbrook town. Nobody was taking that away from him.

Wind blew a flyer there way. Stefano leaped up and caught it. Renzo grabbed it from him and perused over the faces of two women on the flyer.

His eyes popped when he saw the fee for finding them. "I will be damned, thirty million dollars. Are you seeing this shit Vicente. That is more money than I have ever seen in my life. Imagine what we could do with all that cash."

They both imagined the supplies they could get and the mansions and women. For Stefano, it was just one woman, Tiffany Fairchild, the daughter of his former boss.

Thirty million did not come close to her family’s wealth but in the apocalypse, they were probably not as wealthy anymore.

With thirty million and his super strength, he would be welcomed by the Fairchild’s like a hero. He would marry Tiffany and have two babies, a boy and a girl. After the apocalypse, they would live on a ranch and die holding hands.

Stefano closed his eyes and sighed.

Renzo sneered at his cousin. He had a feeling the man was dreaming of Tiffany Fairchild, again. With thirty million, who needed that snob? They could have any woman in the world. "What are you waiting for lover boy? Let’s go find these bitches before someone else beats us to it."

"Stop it." Sunshine giggled. "You will make me burn breakfast."

Even as she complained, she did not move. She was frying bacon in the kitchen and Hades was keeping her company. He was bare chested and one of his hands sliding over the curve of her butt and pinching and spanking lightly every now and then.

He was standing so close that every other second, he found a reason to kiss her or nibble on her neck. She really wanted to cook but at the same time, she was enjoying this newly found closeness between herself and Hades.

They had not kept their hands off each other since last night.

"What are you smiling about?" He murmured, rubbing his nose over the tip of her ear.

She turned her head and kissed his chest.

The bacon simmered loudly, as if it was objecting to her less than sufficient attention to it. Behind them, Tank and robot grimaced, wishing the couple would take the love theatrics elsewhere.

For Tank, it was because the bacon was starting to burn and they were five minutes late for breakfast. Ariel had made a schedule. He wanted to keep to it.

For Hunter, it was because she could eat food, despite being a bionic robot. It added no nutritional value and only pleased her taste buds. What she wanted was food, not to witness kissing and fondling.

Meanwhile, Hades turned Sunshine around and put both hands around her waist. "Maybe we should pretend to be sick and stay home for the day. I have many bad ideas you will love."

Jo-Stride groaned. They had missed training out in the field because Hades decided on a different kind of training with Sunshine in bed.

Now he wanted a whole day!!

"I object." Tank said loudly.

"I second that." Hunter added her voice.

Strolling into the kitchen, Ariel said, "If we are objecting to the delay in breakfast, count me in." He stopped beside the fridge. "Mom, dad, what you are you two doing?"

Sunshine shoved Hades away, as guilty as sin. "Nothing." She lied.

Ariel groaned, nostrils twitching. "The bacon is burning."

Tank rushed to salvage the situation while Ariel glared at the adults. "First of all, dad, you are not wearing proper kitchen attire. And you are not allowed anywhere near the food while it is cooking. See, you jinxed the bacon. It has all gone to waste. We cannot afford to waste food."

Hades scoffed. "Kid, I bought the bacon. I can do what I want with it."

Ariel replied firmly. "Your money is my money. Your supplies are my supplies. You two have used up your share of bacon for the next three days."

Sunshine’s jaw dropped. "Are you...are you...banning us from eating bacon?"

Ariel nodded. "Yes."

Hades snorted. They would go into the space and eat it from there. How would Ariel know? "We spoke to Dr. Flora by the way."

Ariel stiffened. "About me?"

Hades nodded. "What else would it be about? You are the one seeing her."

Earl walked into the kitchen, nostrils twitching too. "I smell something burning. Who let dad into the kitchen?"

Tank shooed Earl away. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Meanwhile Ariel maintained a frown as he faced his parents. "I trust that confidentiality was maintained."

Sunshine took a new packet of bacon from her space, not taking her eyes away from Ariel. "I was urged to refrain from referring to you as sweetie, champ, buddy. or kiddo before your peers."

"It undermines my authority." He replied. "Since you found those missing kids and I love you, I will let you eat bacon today mom." He looked at Hades. "I will be in my office in mom’s home workshop compiling a list of supplies we are short of."

"What office?" Sunshine asked.

"What authority?" Hades asked.

Ariel was already gone, along with the air of romance which had been brewing.
