Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 100: Marking (2)
Chapter 100: Marking (2)
Tension escalated as panic spread among the residents, especially on the first floor, where water slowly flooded in, prompting them to rush to higher floors. They fought over unit 1401, the only available unit.
The other residents looked outside as the relentless typhoon continued, feeling uneasy. They turned to social media to share their experiences and alert the government to their situation.
In the group chat, many residents called out for help after the supermarket closed. They tagged one another in search of assistance with food essentials, but responses were scarce, as most feared that engaging would lead to more requests. Nevertheless, a few individuals were still willing to lend a hand.
Some residents argued in the corridors, trying to borrow supplies, but their neighbors refused, as they, too, were running low on food—the once familiar friends now felt like strangers. Meanwhile, others shut their doors tightly, anxious that their neighbors might invade their homes, creating an atmosphere of fear and distrust.

Gazing at the surging water, Elena suggested, "Let’s check the situation on the rooftop and replenish the power generator at the same time."
They immediately donned proper equipment—waterproof raincoats, layered clothing, waterproof pants, sturdy boots, safety goggles, and gloves—before heading to the rooftop.
Ethan and Xander braved the powerful typhoon, followed closely by Elena and Uncle Anthony. The wind howled more fiercely than the day before, and the rain fell so intensely that each drop stung against their skin. freewёbnoνel.com
"Be careful; the typhoon is raging. Let’s hurry," Ethan urged as he carried the gasoline.
While they were busy, Elena retrieved the telescope and assessed the situation. In just one day, the low-lying houses had completely submerged, with people waving from their rooftops, desperately hoping for rescue.
The rescuers worked tirelessly, paddling their boats through the floodwaters to reach those in need.
She applauded the rescuers for their heroic efforts, but she understood that if the typhoon persisted and they were forced to halt their operations, people would unfairly blame them, questioning their commitment and bravery.
Others braved the typhoon near their building, hoping to buy essential supplies at nearby stores. Unfortunately, the supermarkets were closed, making their efforts in vain.
Anyone who dared to venture outside faced life-threatening dangers.
After replenishing the power generator, they assessed the situation on the rooftop and saw the same scene that Elena had witnessed.
They all sighed, preparing to head back downstairs, but before they could move, a horrifying spectacle unfolded in the distance. With a sense of dread, they quickly retrieved their telescope to get a closer look at the unfolding chaos.
There, they saw a building begin to tilt and crumble slowly, debris cascading down like a scene from a movie. In a frantic bid for safety, some people leaped from the collapsing structure, while others lost their footing and fell directly into the water below. Even if they survived the fall, the debris from the crumbling building would still pose a serious threat.
This was their first time witnessing such an unbelievable scene, leaving them stunned and speechless. However, Elena remained composed; she had seen far worse in her past life.
Noticing the fear on their faces, Elena devised a plan. She decided to introduce them to more disaster movies, thinking that by facing these scenarios in a fictional context, they could become desensitized and better prepared for real-life challenges.
"Let’s go back now," Elena said, snapping them out of their stunned silence.
"This... just now, the building—it’s gone!" Uncle Anthony stammered, his voice filled with disbelief as he stared at the collapsed structure.
No one spoke as they made their way downstairs, but after witnessing the scene, they felt unease press down on them. Returning to their unit, Elena and Ethan entered the space to take a bath.
Meanwhile, Lydia had spent almost three days in the hospital, and now that her aching body had finally begun to feel better, she wanted to stand up and find Aunt Liza to check out of the hospital.
Lydia was deeply concerned about her parents and wanted to call to update them on her situation. After being kidnapped, she had no idea what had happened outside. All she knew was that Elena had brought her to a hospital in City B.
She then pressed the buzzer to notify Aunt Liza that she needed assistance.
Aunt Liza quickly walked into the ward, her excitement evident as she saw Lydia could stand up now. "You’re finally awake! How do you feel now?"
"I feel good; there’s just a slight discomfort in my stomach," Lydia honestly replied, trying to reassure Aunt Liza.
"That’s to be expected," Aunt Liza said gently. "According to the report, you were kicked in the stomach."
Lydia nodded, grateful for the explanation. "Thank you, Dr. Ford, for taking care of me," she said sincerely.
"No problem!"
"By the way, is the signal back now?" Lydia looked at Aunt Liza, hoping to hear some good news about being able to contact her parents.
"Yes, the signal is back now. Just wait a minute, and I will get my phone," Aunt Liza responded as she quickly excused herself from the room to contact Elena and update her about Lydia’s situation.
Receiving the [Emergency] alert, Elena teleported to Paradise Hospital in search of Aunt Liza. Upon finding her, Aunt Liza quickly briefed Elena on Lydia’s condition, explaining that she was awake and recovering well. Now that Lydia was stable, Elena felt it was time to share the current situation and reveal the space.
They went to Lydia’s ward, and Elena greeted her first warmly. Upon seeing them, Lydia looked confused, wondering why her benefactor was still here.
Nevertheless, she returned the greeting, feeling grateful for Elena’s support and care during her recovery.
"Benefactor, thank you," Lydia said, her voice filled with gratitude.
"Just call me Elena," she replied with a warm smile. "The term ’benefactor’ feels a bit heavy, especially since we just helped you settle in the hospital."
Lydia chuckled softly, feeling comforted by Elena’s casual demeanor. "Alright, Elena, it is. Can I borrow your phone? I need to call my parents," she said, appreciating the friendly atmosphere as she began to relax.
Elena looked at her and didn’t hand over her phone. Instead, she asked, "Before you call your parents, can I ask you something? What do you think about natural disasters, like the earthquake you just experienced?"
Lydia’s face turned pale as memories of the earthquake flooded back. The sudden tremors and shakes were so intense that it nearly knocked her off. Fortunately, the building she had been in never collapsed; otherwise, the outcome could have been disastrous.
She was confused as to why Elena was asking this, but she answered honestly, "The earthquake was so strong that it nearly destroyed City B."
Elena then explained that a tornado had ravaged City B, and a typhoon was raging outside. At first, Lydia was in denial, but when Elena retrieved an object out of nowhere, her scepticism vanished. The extraordinary act made her realise the threats were real, and she finally believed Elena.
"You’re not in the hospital; you’re inside Paradise," Elena explained to her about this space.
Lydia finally understood why this hospital felt different. Given the recent earthquake, it should have been bustling with activity, yet it was eerily quiet—no people, no noise—just a serene calm enveloping the area.
"Are you willing to join us? I’ll provide you sanctuary in exchange for your loyalty," Elena said, confident in her assessment of Lydia
"I would like to, but what about my parents? I know it sounds shameless, but if you allow them to join, I promise I’ll work harder," Lydia pleaded earnestly.
"Alright, once you reunite with them, I will mark them," Elena replied, a sense of victory swelling within her. She would have both marine experts on her side.
However, she cautioned Lydia, "But you must not tell anyone about this place. If you do, you’ll face the same fate as my husband—electrocuted for trying to reveal its existence."
Lydia nodded earnestly.
Elena summoned the Golden Tablet, its surface glowing with a golden light. For Lydia, it appeared ragged; she had a lot of questions, but she didn’t interrupt her.
Elena then requested a drop of blood, marking her with a heart shape.
Afterwards, Elena briefly introduced Lydia to the space and its rules, planning to later introduce her to Jessa, who would give her a tour to help her acclimate.
"Thank you, Elena. Can I call my parents now? I’m worried about them," Lydia asked, her concern evident.
"Sure, let me pull you to my location," Elena replied, ready to assist her.
Afterwards, Elena and Lydia vanished from space, leaving Ethan waiting at the entrance of Paradise Hospital.
As the minutes ticked by, nearly 30 had passed since Elena entered. Unable to wait any longer, he stepped inside. To his surprise, the ward was empty.
’Did my wife forget about me waiting outside the hospital? Haist’
With a sigh, he decided to leave the space.
’Just wait, wife, and I’ll punish you later,’ he thought, a smirk forming on his lips as he plotted how to trap his wife again.
