Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 269: New Cycle
Meanwhile, those attuned to spiritual energy began to sense the shifts rippling through the world.
Hidden clans, long dormant, stirred with renewed interest as the very air seemed to breathe with spiritual energy.
To them, the change felt natural—comforting, even.
The world was now saturated with energy, making cultivation smoother and progress faster than ever before.
Whether this change was truly a blessing or a curse, only time would tell.
However, for ordinary people, the unbearable heat remained their biggest struggle.
They had no idea that the world itself was changing beneath their feet.
To them, it was just one disaster after another—each one harsher, more unrelenting than the last—and there was no sign it would end anytime soon.
But for those standing on the edge of awakening, a strange drowsiness began to take hold.
Their bodies grew warm and heavy, their minds soothed, as if the world itself was lulling them to rest.
Unaware of what was truly happening, most people simply fought the growing drowsiness, trying to stay vigilant.
While the world outside was changing rapidly, Elena, on the other hand, was struggling to stabilize her spiritual energy.
For some reason, the spiritual energy was rushing into her far too quickly, making her feel unbearably sleepy.
But when her water suddenly broke, she pushed the feeling aside and even felt a hint of relief.
Finally, the baby would be born soon.
So she forced herself to stay awake—at least until her child was delivered safely in the improvised maternity room they had hastily set up in the spare room.
With her were Aunt Liza, Lydia, Mrs. Bennett, and Grandma Ford.
They busily moved around her, discussing what needed to be done while preparing every tool they might need.
And following Aunt Liza’s guidance, Elena strolled inside the room, trying to stay balanced against the constant surge of spiritual energy while waiting for labor to progress.
She wasn’t in labor yet—not like Grandpa Caldwell had told Ethan.
What they saw earlier was simply her water breaking, and her pale face must have made him panic and assume the worst.
Yet despite her steady breathing, worry lingered in her heart.
Aunt Liza and Lydia were now showing signs of awakening, leaving only Grandma Ford and Mrs. Bennett to help her.
So they prepared for the worst, especially since the machines could no longer detect the baby’s position or condition.
And that unknown factor tightened the air with worry, prompting Aunt Liza to quickly brief Grandma Ford and Mrs. Bennett—both experienced with childbirth, though not skilled in handling complicated medical issues.
All they could do was sigh and hope the delivery would be normal.
But when they looked at Elena—calm and determined—they found strength in her composure.
Elena understood the situation well, yet there was nothing she could do.
A protective force surrounded the baby, making it impossible for anyone to check its condition.
Maybe that same force was nourishing the child... or hiding it from something dangerous.
The thought brought her a bit of comfort as she gently rubbed her belly.
’Baby, please hang in there,’ she whispered softly. ’Be strong and come out soon, alright? Let Mommy have an easy time.’
She longed for all of this to end—to see her child and finally breathe with relief.
There were still many things they needed to prepare once the new cycle began.
One of them was to leave this building soon—it was severely damaged by the earthquakes and disasters that kept coming one after another.
Now that the floodwaters had finally receded, it was best to move and find a safer shelter as quickly as possible.
Thankfully, the Golden Tablet once again revealed its mysterious power. It allowed people to enter the space even as the awakening was happening.
That eased her worries about the children, who were inside and safely absorbing the spiritual energy through the Golden Tablet.
But she herself couldn’t go inside.
The Golden Tablet was bound to her—it would follow her wherever she went.
If she took it into the space, it would disrupt the flow of outside spiritual energy and cut off the supply that nourished everyone in Paradise.
She sighed softly as her gaze drifted toward the Golden Tablet, as it continued to absorb the room’s spiritual energy.
Through her mental link, she could see what was happening within the space.
Dr. Paige was overwhelmed with spiritual energy while working inside the pharmaceutical building.
Poochi, too, faintly glowed—his sturdy body absorbing energy on its own.
’Even Poochi is awakening... truly remarkable,’ she thought with a gentle smile.
Daniel was at the Eastern Lake, tending to the fish pond, unaware that he was also being bathed in spiritual energy.
Many of them were beginning to awaken, and to Elena, that was a blessing. They would be a great help during the early chaos brought by new awakeners.
The stronger her people became, the more those ability users would think twice before daring to trouble their Paradise shop.
Fortunately, Elena had the foresight to take the Golden Tablet outside in time.
Otherwise, none of them inside the space would have received the surge of spiritual energy from the changing world.
After a few minutes of waiting, Elena felt her contractions growing stronger and closer together.
She quickly told Aunt Liza, who checked her and immediately guided her onto the bed, since the baby could come at any moment.
But then, the world suddenly darkened. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
The blazing sun that had burned the world without mercy vanished in an instant—swallowed by a total solar eclipse.
People everywhere froze in shock, staring up at the sky, fear twisting their hearts as they wondered what disaster would strike next.
All around the world, those on the verge of awakening couldn’t resist the overwhelming spiritual energy anymore.
One after another, they collapsed, marking the true beginning of the new cycle.
Thunder violently tore through the heavens—deep, powerful, and relentless—announcing the new era.
Boom! Boom!
Heaven had done its part. From here on, it could only observe—no longer allowed to meddle in the world’s affairs.
Inside the improvised maternity room, Elena heard the thunder rumbling as if the sky itself were tearing open, yet she remained unaware of the eclipse outside.
With the door and windows sealed tight, all she could do was focus on herself and her baby.
Right now, nothing else in the world mattered.
Then, without warning, Aunt Liza and Lydia both slumped to the floor, unconscious.
"Call Sera and Shantel! Quick!" Grandma Ford shouted. "We need to get them into Paradise!"
Mrs. Bennett telepathically reached out, and within seconds, the two women appeared and carried the fainted pair away.
Grandma Ford hurried back to Elena—only to see her eyelids drooping as she fought the same drowsiness.
"Elena! No!" She patted her cheek urgently. "Stay awake! Remember the baby."
She gently shook Elena, trying to keep her from slipping into unconsciousness.
Elena fought back against the overwhelming drowsiness—and then the baby kicked, strong and urgent, as if reminding her they still needed to make it through together.
She gasped, catching her breath. "Grandma... I’m awake... It hurts... so much... The baby—it’s coming... Urgh..."
"That’s it. Take a deep breath. When I count to three, push."
Elena nodded weakly.
The thought of meeting her baby gave her strength she didn’t know she still had.
She pushed with everything inside her.
And then—a newborn’s cry echoed through the room, powerful and alive.
"Waaaah....Waaaaa"
Elena’s chest tightened as tears streamed down her cheeks—relief, joy, and love bursting all at once.
Grandma Ford gently cleaned the tiny, slippery body and lifted him with careful hands, her face shining with excitement.
"Elena—it’s a boy."
