Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 301: Serious Discussion
Returning from their house, Elena quickly took over caring for the two remaining babies who were now awake, while Ethan prepared their small tub for bathing.
At first, Elena wanted to do everything herself and personally clean the babies, but Ethan dismissed the idea, not wanting her to tire herself with such tasks.
With no other choice, she simply watched him work, while also cheering for her babies from the side.
Although she could have instantly cleaned them using the Golden Tablet, she chose not to.
For her, this was also a way for the babies to grow more familiar with their parents and truly feel their care and presence.
And she was right — the babies were happy, knowing their parents were with them.
Soon, nearly an hour passed before they finally managed to freshen up the triplets.
Now clean and comfortable, the boys quickly grew hungry, eagerly vying for their well-deserved meal.
"I’ll feed Leo and Max — you go feed Finn. That boy seems to like you so much. He doesn’t react as much as his two brothers," Elena suggested after careful thought.
The two brothers, Leo and Max, were truly inseparable from her for unknown reasons.
Even her smallest actions prompted them to compete for her attention.
And if they couldn’t get what they wanted, they simply used their special weapon — their pitiful tears — which, of course, made Elena give in.
Still, she promised herself that she would teach them the importance of sharing; otherwise, she would be the one caught in a constant dilemma.
Unlike them, Finn seemed especially attached to his father. Even when Ethan did nothing, the boy would smile whenever his dad was nearby.
This made Elena think that Baby Finn’s ability might be what kept him calm — as if he instinctively knew that both his parents loved him, leaving him content regardless of who took care of him.
"Alright, give Finn to me," Ethan said, happy to know his second-born was not picky.
Well, Baby Finn also wanted his mommy, but with two brothers competing for her attention, it would only tire her out.
Since his daddy was here, he was happy to have his father’s attention all to himself.
Soon after, Elena fed Leo and Max together while Ethan took care of Finn.
It was at this moment that Elena truly realized how difficult it was to handle three babies at the same time.
The idea that raising them would be easy was only a simple illusion — in reality, it was far from it.
Looking at their situation now, with all three babies waking up, they clearly needed proper time management.
Still, Ethan had done a wonderful job taking care of the triplets. Watching him, Elena felt reassured that everything would be fine.
"You handle everything so well," Elena said, praising Ethan for his careful and meticulous care.
"They’re easy to take care of as long as they behave," Ethan replied proudly.
"Just make sure not to bring any spiritual items near them. If their hunger gets triggered, it would be a disaster."
Despite his confident tone, he still repeatedly warned her about the babies’ strong fascination with spiritual items.
Elena nodded, taking note of it as she planned to hide those powerful items that contained stronger spiritual energy.
Not long after, the babies finally finished feeding.
Satisfied and happy, they began playing with their parents as Elena teased them gently, giving each of them equal smooches.
However, their quiet family time was soon interrupted when someone rang the doorbell.
Elena then closed her eyes, wanting to know who it was. "Xander and Oslo are outside."
Hearing it was his buddies, Ethan raised a brow slightly. He had already instructed everyone not to disturb them for a while.
But knowing the two of them, they must have something important to report.
"Wait here. I’ll talk to them," Ethan said.
"No... we’ll come with you," Elena suggested. "The kids aren’t sleepy yet anyway."
She was also curious about why they had come.
Seeing her persistence, Ethan nodded. He carried Leo and Max downstairs while Elena held Finn in her arms.
Baby Max looked displeased, clearly wanting his mother to hold him instead, but Ethan remained firm, not allowing them to do whatever they pleased.
Their comical silent standoff did not escape Elena’s notice, but she stayed quiet, allowing Ethan to handle their sons’ antics.
Besides, she also wanted to hold Finn, so she had no intention of interrupting her husband’s decision.
"Behave — crying won’t work on dad," Ethan said calmly.
Baby Leo simply looked quietly toward his mother, while Baby Max continued to protest. In the end, however, Ethan still had the final say.
Meanwhile, Oslo and Xander waited at the front door, discussing their next move.
Their planned route had become impossible because of newly discovered mutated creatures, so they needed to look for an alternative one.
On top of that, their time inside Paradise was running out. They needed to leave soon otherwise they would be kicked out of space.
So, with no other choice, they decided to contact Ethan to quickly come up with a new plan.
Soon after, the door opened — yet no one stood at the entrance.
"Should we go in?" Oslo asked hesitantly, afraid that Ethan might get annoyed for disturbing them.
"Since it’s open, Chief and sister-in-law must know it’s us who rang the bell," Xander replied.
The two stepped inside just as Ethan and Elena came downstairs carrying the babies.
Oslo and Xander then greeted them warmly, with their eyes lighting up with enthusiasm at the sight of the triplets.
"Little young masters, you’re still awake. Come, let Uncle Oslo hold you," Oslo said eagerly.
Ethan handed one boy each to Oslo and Xander while he gently took Finn from Elena’s arms.
Watching how naturally they handled the babies, Elena found it a little surprising.
It felt as if they had done this many times before, especially seeing how comfortable the babies were with them.
Indeed, whenever urgent meetings happened, Oslo and Xander would always visit Ethan — partly to see and entertain the triplets.
Ethan allowed it, as long as they handled the babies carefully and kept them happy for a while.
"So, why are you guys here?" Ethan asked, looking at them expectantly, clearly waiting for a proper explanation.
Xander’s demeanor suddenly turned serious.
"We came to report about a mutated tree located about a hundred kilometers away from the military main base. Based on my observations, it seems to be expanding its hunting ground from its main body."
"A mutated tree?" Elena exclaimed, as something from the past surfaced in her memory.
"Yes, sister-in-law. This mutated tree is extremely dangerous and highly territorial," Oslo added. "No other creatures are roaming nearby because they’ve already become its prey. And it’s incredibly strong."
Seeing Elena’s serious reaction, Ethan immediately treated the matter with high priority.
"Let’s put the babies in the crib first. We need to have a serious discussion about this," Ethan suggested.
He then used his [Inventory] to bring out the large crib for the triplets, along with several toy trinkets to keep them entertained while the adults talked.
Elena finally snapped out of her memories and quickly moved toward the crib.
She carefully took the babies from Oslo and Xander one by one, placing them inside. Afterward, they continued their discussion.
"Can you describe the mutated tree for me?" Elena asked, wanting to learn more about the creature.
Oslo began explaining everything he knew and handed his phone to her. "I took a picture of it. Take a look, sister-in-law."
Elena accepted the phone and carefully analyzed the image. After a moment, she realized that it was indeed the same mutated tree from her past life.
