Apocalyse: Marked by Chaos-Chapter 19 - Shadows of the Cave
Chapter 19: Chapter 19 Shadows of the Cave
Olivia flailed her hands desperately, reaching for anything to hold onto, a cry escaping her lips.
Suddenly a hand quickly grabbed her, stopping her from falling further down.
She looked up, meeting Luke's steady gaze. Relief flooded her chest as he pulled her up.Getting to the top, she found out that the rest of Diana and Tyler were holding on to Luke.
Olivia's shoulder trembled, her heartbeat struggling to settle.
" I really don't see the point of bringing her with us." A guy with scar running from the eyes on the left side of his face down to his cheek hissed, his left eye was not blind, it had a shade of blue while the other eye had a shade of brown. His long blonde hair was tied to the back.
" There is no point in arguing, Liam, she is already here with us." Tyler answered, his throat tightening as he scanned their surroundings.
"Are you okay?" Diana asked, her voice cracking with emotion.

Olivia nodded hastily. For a moment she thought that was her end. Her trembling hand fumbled before moving a strand of her hair to her ear.
Diana patted her shoulder. "We should get going now." She advised. If the monsters caught up with them it would be a disaster, as they would become drained before fighting the S level beast. Avoiding conflict is the best option for them right now.
Olivia's trembling legs quickly walked behind them, she walked faster to be in their middle.
"We should run, they are catching up." Diana said.
They all took to their heels. Olivia, who was still on the first rank of Ascendant, fell behind miserably.
Tyler looked behind him, his face contorted with irritation, she was dragging them back. He turned, running towards her, he swiftly picked her up, totally ignoring her protest.
"If you want to survive, stay still." Tyler warned.
He dashed towards the group, they finally stopped when they reached a cave. Their eyes flickered with dread.
" Don't tell me we are going inside." Bella's voice broke the silence.
"We have no chance." Tyler said, his voice decisive. He gently put Olivia on the ground.
"No way, we don't know what is waiting for us in there, this is a suicide mission. It is better for us to fight the approaching monsters than stepping into the unknown." Bella argued back.
Olivia's eyes darted back and forth between Tyler and Bella. She instinctively glanced over her shoulder, cold shivers ran down her spines as her eyes widened in horror.
"Guys!" She yelled, drawing their attention towards her "They are here." She whispered. Her body stood, frozen.
"Everyone into the cave." Diana commanded.
They all ran inside the cave. Their eyes widened in horror as they saw one of the monsters blurring towards them.
Tyler closed his eyes, his lips moving as he whispered a spell. He stood by the entrance, one of the monsters limped forward aiming for his neck. His eyes shot open, revealing black gleaming eyes, a wave of dark energy sent the monster flying away.
The monster crashed against the other monsters, it stood up shaking its head, as if to make it clear. The bony monster, shaped like a wolf, towered at seven feet tall. Its body has no flesh, its ribs held a dark blue light shining dimly in it. Its red eyes shone with anger, hunger and bloodthirstiness.
It charged against the cave again. Sweat trickled down Tyler's face, a sudden pulse of air echoed through the cave. The monster clashed at the rippling barrier, its body shattered from the impact. Seeing this the rest of the monsters paced around the cave impatiently, staring deep into it as if their eyes would make it fall.
Liam snapped his finger, and a light suddenly shone in the cave, floating in the air.
They all sat on the ground, they dare not venture further into the cave.
Olivia sat in a corner, her throat felt parched from dehydration, her lips chapped. But that was the least of her problems right now. She hasn't checked on Little White for a while now.
Her hand instinctively touched where he was, but she could not feel any movement. Her heart instantly felt as if it was gripped by a burning sensation.
'Is he still breathing? What about if something happened to him?' Her hand trembled at the thought. No. She needed to check on him, and she definitely cannot do it in their presence, she needed to go to a secluded place. Her eyes scanned them in silence.
"Will the light not attract unwanted attention?." The girl who had been quiet finally spoke, she shared the same feature with Liam, blonde hair, her eyes brown. Her face was smooth with a little freckles. She is Liam 's twin sister Ellie.
"No, my barrier is invisible to the outside world." Tyler replied, his gaze softening as he looked at her. Ellie, however, kept her eyes averted, jaw clenched as if suppressing words left unspoken.
"Okay."
"Here have some water." Diana handed Olivia a body of water. Olivia quickly grabbed the water, her hand twisting the cover open, drinking hungrily from it.
Cough. Cough.
Diana patted her back. "Easy."
Olivia finally calmed down, she wiped her lips with her hand. She handed the bottle back to her. "Thank you." She muttered.
"What are those creatures?" Olivia asked.
" That is a Bowolf, they are level 10 monsters, they always hunt in packs, you can never see one alone."
Olivia nodded, her hand fumbling. She gazed around with hesitation. ' what about if they say no? And who knows if it is safe there? What if I endanger everyone? But I have to check on him.' She took a deep breath.
"Argghh."
She suddenly held her stomach, groaning, her face twisting in pain.
"What is it? Are you okay?" Diana asked, this drew the attention of the others.
"I... I have to go. Now. I can't hold it." Olivia's lips pressed into a thin line.
"You can't hold it?." Bella asked, annoyances flickering through her eyes.
Olivia shook her head. "I need to go now." She whimpered, as she pressed her legs together.
They all exchanged hesitant glances. Diana took a deep breath. "I will go with her."
Olivia stood up, using the wall as support.
"Liam, borrow us a light of yours."
With a flick of his hand a ball of light floated towards them, leading them to the inside of the cave.
"Don't go too deep." Luke warned.
Diana nodded, her throat bobbed up and down.
Olivia stared at the dark cave, goosebumps formed all over her body from the eerie feeling. Her fists clenched, she had to check on Little White.
Diana and her both walked further into the cave through the passageway, the damp and moldy air invaded their nostrils. The dripping sound of water echoed in their ears.
