Ascension of The Unholy Immortal-Chapter 273: Dong Wang’s fate
Liang watched her leave, his eyes lingering on her retreating figure before shifting to the crystal throne. A spark of excitement flickered in his gaze—it had been too long since he had acquired a treasure of such magnitude.
Suppressing the urge to test the crystal throne immediately, he carefully stored it away. Now was not the time for indulgence in cultivation. There were more pressing matters to attend.
He walked purposefully towards the cultivation adobe, only to be met by Dong Rui standing solemnly at the entrance.
"Is everything done?" she asked, her eyes searching his.
Liang nodded, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. "I think it’s time to leave this planet."
Dong Rui’s brow furrowed as she considered his words. After a moment of silence, she spoke, "There’s something else we need to address."
"What is it?" Liang asked, curiosity piqued as he raised an eyebrow.
"One of my clansmen has met a tragic end. I need to investigate the matter thoroughly." She sighed deeply, the weight of grief evident in her voice. The lost clansman had been one of her supporters, making his untimely death a big lose for her.
"You mean Dong Wang?" Liang inquired, a knowing look in his eyes.
Dong Rui’s expression shifted to one of surprise and suspicion. "How did you know? Do you have any information?"
Liang chuckled softly, a hint of amusement in his tone. "It’s simpler than you think," he said, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Dong Wang was pursued by numerous Alliance paragons. He managed to elude them, but one of his chasers was a close ally of the Red Lotus Sect. During his escape, she caught up to him and struck from behind. She used his pure blood to unseal a portion of the formation that had been binding the Kun Peng."

Hearing this, Dong Rui’s eyes flickered with anger, and a murderous aura began to surround her. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
"What about those Alliance members?" Dong Rui asked, her voice still trembling slightly.
Liang’s lips curved into an amused smile. "They’re all dead."
"What? How?"
"They were used as a sacrifice as well, to break the Kun Peng seal." Liang shook his head. "It was a win-win situation for the Red Loutes."
"Humph, that old witch eventually got what she deserved." Dong Rui remarked. She shot Liang a glance before taking out her cube, its edges glimmering with a soft light.
"You believed me that easily?" Liang couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
"I don’t think there’s any reason for Brother Liang to lie to me, right?" Dong Rui replied with a mysterious smile, her eyes glinting with an unreadable emotion.
Liang chuckled again, his gaze shifting briefly to the cube in her hands. "That’s an impressive device. The Dong Clan is indeed filled with talented people," he remarked, a hint of admiration flickering in his eyes.
Hearing his words, Dong Rui’s mouth twitched. From Liang’s tone, she sensed a trace of arrogance. Did he really think he had the right to evaluate or judge the Dong Clan?
"Shall we go?" Dong Rui suggested, turning her attention to the shimmering portal that had just appeared before them.
Liang nodded, taking a step forward alongside her. Within a few breaths of time, they arrived at the Void Integration Matrix.
Dong Rui fixed her gaze on the ornately carved door at the center of the chamber before walking towards it. "Let’s proceed."
Liang followed closely behind. He watched intently as Dong Rui took out her cube once more, inserting it into a receptacle on the door. As soon as the cube slid into place, the door began to glow with intricate runes etched across its surface. Moments later, it opened with a soft, otherworldly sound.
"Don’t we need a passing rune?" Liang asked, suspicion coating his words.
"Brother Liang, we are entering through the Void Integration Matrix. Why would we need such a thing?" Dong Rui responded playfully before stepping into the doorway.
Liang’s eyes flickered with a faint, almost imperceptible light. As he walked through the door, miniature voidforge runes, unseen and unfelt, etched themselves into the surrounding void inside the Matrix. It was a highly intricate process, but it happened in the blink of an eye, almost as if by instinct.
As Liang and Dong Rui stepped through the doorway of the Void Integration Matrix, they found themselves in a large and opulent palace hall. The walls were adorned with intricate carvings and murals depicting scenes of ancient battles and legendary figures. The floor was made of polished marble, and the ceiling was a vast expanse of starry sky, twinkling with countless points of light.
In the center of the hall stood a handsome middle-aged man with a stern expression. He was dressed in a flowing robe of the finest silk, and his hair was tied back in a neat ponytail. His eyes were piercing blue, and his lips were set in a thin line.
"Welcome, Rui’er," the man said, his voice deep and resonant. "I have been expecting you."
Dong Rui raised an eyebrow, her expression a mix of surprise and curiosity. "Father, what are you doing here?"
"I am the clan head. I have the freedom to be wherever I choose," Dong Tian Di snorted coldly.
"That’s not what I meant," Dong Rui said, a smile playing at the corners of her lips. "I just didn’t expect you to be waiting here for me."
Dong Tian Di’s stern eyes softened momentarily as he took in the sight of his daughter, whom he hadn’t seen in many years. He let out a sigh, the tension in his shoulders easing slightly. "You have changed a lot."
Dong Rui’s eyes flickered with a hint of surprise before she dismissed his comment with a casual wave of her hand. "Not that much," she replied modestly. "Just stronger, that’s all."
Dong Tian Di raised an eyebrow at her response but chose not to contest it. Instead, his attention shifted to the figure standing beside her—Liang.
As Dong Tian Di’s piercing gaze fell upon him, Liang felt an involuntary shiver run down his spine.
The power emanating from Dong Tian Di was something he didn’t felt from any other experts besides Revenant Xuan ,Despite his advanced cultivation and the enhancement of his Ethereal Will through the voidforge rune and void essence, Liang could not discern Dong Tian Di’s level of cultivation.
