Ascension Online: I Grow Stronger By Streaming-Chapter 22: Searching Kai
Since Mira said she was done with the spell, Kai walked over to the edge, looking down at the goblins. They were closer now, and when they saw him, it was as though something clicked in their minds. They let out loud roars and instantly bolted all the way up the stairs, rushing at Kai.
Kai backed away. He gripped his sword and got ready. Soon, the first goblin rushed in. Kai got ready to attack, but a magical formation lit up under his foot, glowing bright green.
Immediately, a debuff happened on the goblin, and ten percent of its strength was extracted and transferred to Kai.
Kai looked at the buff. He couldn’t help but smile. When Mira had spoken of the buff, he didn’t know what he was expecting, but it sure as hell wasn’t something like this.
He looked at the goblin. It was a bit confused as to what had just happened to it, but regardless, it let out a roar and attacked, rushing forward with fangs showing and sword waving.
It went for a slash, diagonal, attempting to cut Kai right in half, but Kai stepped back, dodging the blade clean, and then attacking.
Sadly, this goblin wasn’t like the weak hobgoblins. It was filled with bloodlust and was level eight. It parried the attack and then proceeded to counter with a slash, but it was easy for Kai to block.
Both of them separated, but Kai knew that wasting too much time would end in issues for him, as more were coming.
He rushed ahead, and when the goblin slashed for his head, he dodged under, using the butterfly dance to completely avoid the blade and then proceeded to thrust his sword through the heart of the goblin, killing it instantly.
He pulled his sword out. The dark blood stained the ground. The goblin vanished soon after, and what was left was a small blood red crystal. Kai was stunned to see a drop, so he bent down and picked it up, about to check its details, but then more goblins came onto the platform.
Very quickly, he put it away and faced them, sword in front of him, ready to go. There were three of them total, two level eights and one level seven. They all instantly rushed at Kai.
Kai stepped back. He allowed the magical circle to take effect first, giving him ten percent of each of their strength, which meant about thirty percent added, while they all suffered ten percent debuffs.
That wasn’t all. With his viewer count steadily rising, so was the strength that he had. He didn’t even need to rely on his own strength anymore, thus this would be a piece of cake for him.
He pressed his foot against the ground and charged ahead like a bullet, yet their eyes couldn’t track his movements, the effect of the butterfly dance. By the time he was close, it was already too late. He stopped right before one, while his hand still moved in for a slash. The blade cut right through the goblin, a cleave cut, so fast that almost no blood fell to the ground.
Kai didn’t stop there, as the two other goblins were immediately closing in on him. He dodged the first attack, then pivoted around the goblin, eyes locked at the back of its neck. He drove the sword right through its neck and pulled out fast enough to slash at the last one.
The last one blocked the attack but was knocked back by the force, almost losing the sword in its grip. That provided Kai enough time to lunge forward and thrust the blade right through the heart of the goblin and kill it.
He pulled the sword out and allowed the body to hit the floor. Then all the bodies vanished and the red crystals were what remained. Kai was stunned to see even more, but there was no time for analysis, so he picked them up and tossed them into his inventory.
Very quickly, he checked his current level, and he was now at level six, which instantly stunned him. He didn’t know that he had come that high. He was certain it had to do with the boss he fought.
’I have some stats to assign, but I’ll do that later. For now, let’s focus on the fight.’ Kai thought to himself.
He was so focused on his fights that he wasn’t even paying the slightest attention to what was happening in his chats.
His views had gotten close to four thousand, and that was a number that couldn’t be ignored at all. Other streamers’ attention had been pulled to his stream and were watching at this point.
A ton of discussions about where he got the sword, the spells, and the sword art were happening, and people were trying to figure out who Kai was in real life.
For a brief moment, the name Shadow_Wolf was the most searched name in the game space, with people trying to know who exactly he was.
And that was when people found out that Shadow_Wolf was linked to another name, The GrimGamer. That was Kai’s first streaming name, which he used for multiple games, but he got tired of it, and when he started Ascension Online, he wanted something different.
With the name found, they started watching his old clips that he still had on the internet, and immediately, people discovered something.
Kai wasn’t bad in these games. You could even say he had what it took to one day go pro if he kept at it, but when the gameplay was compared to his current stream, it lacked something.
People didn’t know what to call what it lacked, but there wasn’t the same spirit behind those clips as his current gameplay. There was something intoxicating about the current games, while the old were good, they were simply not up to par.
So more questions arose, more issues on his identity, all while Kai was busy fighting off the next wave of goblins without knowing what was happening.
